Written out of existence, in the army list at least. I guess they didn't fit in well enough with the new fluff. Most people will just use their pariah models as praetorians or whatever in the same way Wood Elf players in WHFB used their old glade guard as eternal guard when the Wood Elf armybook first came out.

I believe the reason they were written out is because they were supposed to represent the C'Tan using further influence on the Necrons. Since the C'Tan are now just shards being controlled by a Necron Overlord that entire amount of fluff doesn't work anymore.

WHA!?!??! No Pariahs! Noooooooooooooooooooooooo

My poor 'crons just lost the most valuable and most used model ever!

All kidding aside I did like the the pariahs (even if they had terrible stats). The whole anti-psyker thing and especially their fluff were awesome!

Is anyone else disappointed by the new fluff? Necrons have lost a bit of their scariness via the fact they have more of a personality...

York/London(for weekends) oh for the glory of the british rail industry

It is to do with the fact that the old codex was basically Codex C'tan plus minions, the Pariahs are the work of the C'tan not the Necron. The new codex focuses on the actual Necron so Pariahs are not included.

As Games Workshop have not actually said anything it is entirely plausable that the fluff from the two books actually co-exists. With the C'tan in the old book representing shards that are still free.

I liked the pariah. The look of the model and specially the artwork for them really gave them a menacing super advanced cyborg look that the lords and even now the overlords dont have.

I think that the concept for the unit is not so out there for the newcrons. Remember that necrons now "evolve" with the crypteks being able to innovate new weapons of war if they choose too.

If GW ever returns to the hobby they can just make a WD article including the pariahs as a advanced New form for the necron nobility or something. Im hoping this happens yet I know it wont.....made myself sad

Squats are supposedly coming back in the next Tau codex, I'm not sure but that's what I've heard.

Hey, it's this thread again. Great...

Yes, Pariahs no longer exist. The models make good Lords, Crypteks and Lychguard.

Not exactly. The Demi-Urg might be a Squat-like race, but will not be Squats. I don't expect that we will see shotgun-wielding bikers in a Tau army list.

So far all I've heard seems to indicate the New'cons' codex is a piece of gak. No Pariahs, Immortals being demoted to Troops, 'Liths that are vulnerable to Just-a-bout everything, Stupid looking new vehicles, AND terrible fluff.

I think I'll just stick to the old 'dex where things make sense and I can use the 'lith for what it was made for.

DEMOTED!!!

Moving to Troops is a demotion!!!

Getting an awsome weapon option is a demotion!!!

Liths got hugely cheaper and they are still AV14. Not much of a change, they still wreck face.

I don't have a new 'dex so I don't KNOW how much cheaper they got but with out Living metal as it was 'lith can now get raped by melda gun(pretty sure that's spelled wrong) and considering all its weapons are short ranged and puts them in "penetration" rang that's not so good for Lithy.

And yes I think getting moved from ELITE to TROOP is a demotion( as for getting new weapons option, I don't see how that's related to elite -> troop), Flayed Ones would have made much more sense as a troop choice.

The monolith dropped the cost of a Powerfist.

Tesla weapons are da shiz. Str5 Ap- with a special rule that if they roll a 6 to hit they cause an additional 2 hits. a large squad can get a disgusting amount of wounds on an enemy squad.

You REALLY should look at the new Dex. it is really good.

What can elites do that troops can't?

How much does a powerfist cost? How much did the Monolith drop in points?

Well, I guess your right. They just seem more elite-ish to me. As well as having 2 troop choices with the 2nd choice just being the first but better doesn't make any sense to me, I thought that's what elites were for [being better than your troops that is, which is why their called elites.]

Generally thats what it means, but you will notice that there are many cases where Elites can become troops and those are usually taken with extreme delight.

Case in point: Purifiers, Wraithguard, Deathwing terminators, Nobs...

yes,

Thats why immortals being a troops choice is so awsome. No character needed to unlock it.
