Has anyone got a model that has performed above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis?

Before retireing my Ultramarines after 4th ed. I used a Chaplain HQ.
His name was Chaplain T. Pitier of fools. Tosser of suckas.
Over many years he had killed countless hive tyrants, carnifexs, avatars, dreads, warbosses, daemon princes, so on and so on.
He survived an entire armies worth of necron shooting 4 turns in a row. His first game he took 4 vindicator rounds to the face and threw a meltabomb down the barrel.
He has defeted most named characters and smashed almost anything put in his way.
My final game with my Ultramarines was against Tau. Final turn left him and the Shas'O at 1 wound.
He is now represented in my friends army of new Ultras as a FW Chaplain Dreadnought.

Best example I have.....
a 5 man terminator assault squad in a land raider sat idling in my deployment zone in a game against chaos.
turn 1, it gets blown up by obliterators.
For the next 2 turns, the terminators rush headlong into plasma fire from the obliterators. Only the sergeant makes it through to the enemy lines. He strikes down the 3 obliterators, and turned his eye towards the enemy HQ... a sorceror attached to a unit of thousand sons.
He wades in, and for the remainder of the game, he and the enemy leader trade blows. Neither of us fail a single save. On the last assault phase of last turn, he fails an invulnerable save, and the sergeant's hammer instant kills the lord.
He is now a Captain.

My Master Shaper was the terror of Dreadnoughts while Kroot Mercenaries were still legal through chapter approved.
Melta Bomb or an Eviscerator, no interred Space Marine Hero could move fast enough to crush him.
His final day was spent hunting down Heavy Dreads and the then feared 'Venerable' Dreadnoughts; about 20 Dreads in total for his entire career.

I'm painting him up right now and this thread gave me an idea to add some burning wreckage to his base. Now where's that bloody bitz box...

A guy I play against regularly had a Furioso Dreadnaught suicidally drop on the first turn to blast away one of my scoring units.
It proceeded to survive fire from a unit of Hive Guard, followed by all 12 shots from a Barbed Heirodule without taking any damage. It was then charged by a carnifex who only managed to rip off it's power weapon arm.
Over the course of the rest of the game it stayed locked in combat with the carnifex, and later a tervigon as well. It survived all the monstrous creature attacks every assault phase, and finally on turn 6 just as the game ended it succeeded in kicking the carnifex to death.
For it's valiant efforts I gave my friend a spare carnifex head to mount on its base.

My Commissar is known simply as 'The Commissar'. He inspires dread my opponents.
He first came to the fore when he took down a Carnifex in single combat after slaying his only companion to stop himself running away.
After that day, he has tirelessly continued his reign of terror with a few notable engagements -
- Eviscerating a Tervigon
- Bifurcating 500 points of Tau and making half of the rest run away (Ethereal dying)
- Blowing a Terminator's head off at range with his bolt pistol
- Delivering the killing blow to a Revenant Titan (with melta bombs)

I had a single Killa Kan watch his 2 squadmates get blown up followed by having his gun blown off, who then proceeded to march on and engage 3 different IG squads and kill them all in CC.
IG player remembered to bring powerfists from that moment on (we were both new to the game).
I was thinking about taking some Space Marine commendation bits and putting them on him

Courageous Space Marine Captain
|
He hasn't done anything spectacular, but my Devastator sgt has never died. Even when he was acting Commander (|He was being used as a Captain) against the treacherous Cadian 252nd (My friend may disagree though), he strode through the fire of a full Stormtrooper squad to smite them and the Lord Comissar filling their minds wit evil with nothing but his Chainsword and a laser fitted to his knuckle.
When I used him as a Techmarine, he managed to keep the reinforement wave, consisting of the Land Raider Redeemer Starbalze contain a Chapter Master and himself, whethering the full force of a 5k army of DE and Choas Space Marines (It was a VERY bad day for the Ultramarines 2nd, the Blood Ravens 5th and the Salamander's 5th, cause everything except my Stormraven was gone by turn 3)
The Stormraven was carrying an important person (a nameless sceraniro model) that had to be flown off the opposite table edge , 48" away, by turn 6. The Techmarine nopt only kept the LRR moving, but manged to mobilise the SR, which was sadly shot down on turn 5 by an HK missile.
The particular scenario dictated that skimmers wrecked by moving flat out and being immobilised, as the stormraven finally had,, would travel D6+12" forward, which made it crash just 3 INCHES! away from the tale edge, so even with his 2" disembarktion, the model was 1" away from our victory. He was a weasly man, only T 2, and took a Bolt Round to the head, killing all 3 of his wounds in one go, and ending the game

My terminator librarian /W Storm Shield who has still not been named is the only C:SM HQ I find worthy to field. When he hitches a ride on another units droppod, it never scatters. He has taken down ork wierdboys, stabbed Tigurius in the eye. Shut down every psychic action a GK army took for one turn, and char broiled just about every unit in the game at least once. Most notabily against SW, he stepped out of a LR and between avenger and charging he wiped a sqaud of blood claws that had failed to melta the LR. Then he gets back in the LR. A second squad immobilizes his ride, so he again gets out, flames them, and assaults. He kills one in CC and they run away. He takes a melta to the face as they run away and laughs it off, then assaults them again and finishes the job. The only time he has let me down is when his sternguard squad was being overrun by DE wytches. After two rounds of combat with me claiming zero kills, he wounds the Succubus. The succubus fails her invuln, and with great glee I went for the force weapon to finish it off, only to roll an 11 and fail. As if his storm shield has run out of power, the succubus finished if off the next round. A close second is one of my vinidators who has twice finished off Calgar with storm bolter shots.

I played a game that was somewhere around 1200 points against one of my Dakka buddies years ago. It was his IG vs. my Crimson Fists, and since it was still a fairly early game for him, we just played til one guy was all dead. In one of the last turns, my army was reduced to a plasma gun tac Marine and a rocket launcher tac Marine, holed up in a ruin my (deceased) Techmarine had fortified. They weathered round after round of fire from an advancing Chimera and the Guardsmen inside, before blowing the tank up and shooting frags at the disembarked Guardsmen during their final suicide charge. It was a glorious battle, and those two figures are still some of my favorites.
Another battle would have to be one against an Ork army. I had a tactical squad with Pedro Kantor attached, and they got charged by a squad of Killa Kans. After a round or two, it was down to just the sergeant and the corporal (really just a Marine, but I have him lead combat squads when I split them). Before the Kans could strike, Corpoal Santiago blew up one of the Killa Kans with a krak grenade, saving the life of his sergeant. I glued a chainsword to his hip and painted an explosion on his knee to commemorate the event.

I have an ancient Ratling Sniper named Smilin' Bob, who ranks as my most memorable mini. When I first bought my Ratling squad, all the guys I gamed with said they were a waste of points and money. As a joke, I promised to prove them wrong and would paint a mark on their rifles for every kill they got. First game out, all but one died and that one only had a single kill. A few games later, I realized that that one particular mini was racking up the kills and would soon run out of room on his gun. By the time I retired my IG, Smilin' Bob (named for a big smiley face I had painted on his hat) had over 80 kills, all recorded on his gun or on his personal banner (carried by an equally ancient Snotling banner bearer mini). Among his kills were Squats of all types, my friend's Living Ancestor was a preferred target, Beastmen (old IG auxillaries), Zoats, Tyranids and about every type of IG, Marine, Orc and Eldar troop imaginable. My IG were long retired before any of the new races were introduced, but in the back of my mind, I keep thinking of dragging them out, just to give Smilin' Bob the chance to add a few Necrons and Tau to his confirmed kills.

During my first tournament I played my (since retired) Crimson Fists and ran some sternguard.
First Rhino, that was popped was Sternguard's, first squad to torn to ribbons was the sternguard too, but one survived (pointing corvus marine for the record)...
That one sternguard foot slogged up the rest of the board and killing a few fire warriors and succeeded in finishing off the Shas'O in assault. Not impressive sure, but it was that assault which contested an objective which won me that game.
Second game, i lost to a strong chaos list, but i finished his Demon Prince in assault with that sternguard member.
Since then he's simply shared in the glory of the rest of the squad; killing carnifexs, wrecking tanks and holding lines.
I've since retired the Fists and painted up some Blood Ravens, but couldn't help but have fond memories of that marine.
It was alot of work, but i gave pointing sternguard (metal btw) into the sergeant for his squad by giving him a deathwatch pad and powerfist...

Tonight I had a demolisher, part of a squadron, then, by itself. It didn't do much early, other than take out a few tactical marines (4), but then, it got imobilized, after the other demolisher died. From there on, it became a wrecking machine. One drop pod, 7 terminators, and a dreadnaught. None made it close enough to assault after it was imobilized. Give that tank commander a medal.
