One thing I have noticed in my time playing 40k and browsing the gallery of Dakka is that the Grey Knight's Dreadnight has been converted the hell out of time and time again, and I just wonder- does this make any of you Grey Knight players angry? I mean, most of the conversions are to make the Dreadknight into some kinda daemon thing, and that's just meant as a big 'middle finger' to the Grey Knights. I mean, I think it's pretty awesome that people get that creative, but what about you guys? What are your opinions of the Daemons using our weapons against us? And while we're on the topic, what are some cool conversions that you have either seen or done?
-Edit-
Okay, did you guys even read that second part of the message? I said " I think it's pretty awesome that people get that creative", meaning i like what they do. i think it's cool that they do that. I am not having a "grey knight fanboy having a nerdrage". Go ahead and make a Daemon lord out of it, i'm sure it'd look awesome! And I would actually love to see a pink dreadknight with bunny ears, mostly just because that'd be funny as hell!

You don't seem to understand mockery. A lot of people dislike the model because it's quite ridiculous. Power armor for terminator armor. Grey Knights are not mocked as a whole like say Ultramarines.

As a GK player, I am not a huge fan of the Dreadknight's really bizarre proportions, not to mention the whole "external driver" aspect. That in mind, any conversions are pretty neat as far as I'm concerned. Even uses in other armies helps give me some good ideas for how I want to put mine together (when I get around to picking one up).
Also, I do think it's pretty strange to get angry over how somebody else builds their models. Sure, I think certain conversions/designs/paint schemes aren't very cool, but I'd never really get "angry" about somebody's take on plastic toy soldiers.

Considering how absolutely fething stupid the dreadknight is to begin with, I couldn't care less. It's one of the worst models that GW's ever designed, and gutting the hell out of it while throwing some Chaos on it can only improve it.

I don't play Grey Knights, but I thought the Dreadknight was a pretty cool model. And it did seem to make sense, both its stature - yeah, I'd want to have something big like that when fighting a Greater Daemon, since I don't want to be pinned under its foot helplessly - and its design - they don't use AI-controlled war machines in the Imperium for the most part, so that's out, and having an opaque-walled control facility like the dreadnought would make it hard to really envision the pilot being within, as well as potentially limiting either the pilot's mobility or the machine's, and having just his head sticking out of an armored place would seem like a cheap way to save on detail, plus it would look weird.
And even having the pilot in armor makes sense. If the machine is broken in combat, maybe he can hop out - in the lore, not in the game - and grab his normal weapon from like an internal holster (in the machine, not his armor) or something, and fight with his buddies. If the impenetrable force field's generator is damaged or the power supply is damaged, maybe he wants to have some armor. And finally, I don't think he'd look like a proper Grey Knight WITHOUT his armor. That, and It's not like a Penitent Engine, where the "pilot" - read: victim - is essentially attempting to martyr their way into redemption through wanton acts of reckless homicide until redeemed and dead, so having only cloth robes makes sense.
Edited to add that tidbit in parentheses after the word, "holster."

See, all of that can be solved pretty easily.
Have a cockpit. Half-glassed, or with some other transparent medium, if you want to see the pilot. And inside that cockpit, have a chair, in which the Grey Knight sits, and a pair of joysticks or similar control mechanisms. Set it back inside the model a bit, so it doesn't stick out too much.
But please, please, do not have a Grey Knight Terminator dangling from a baby carrier on Giant Robot Warmommy's chest. Hysterical laughter is not, I think, the emotional reaction the Imperium's elite daemon0hunters wish to inspire when they take to the field of battle.
. . . Unless, of course, that's their strategy. In which case IT IS GENIUS.

And it seems to work, given their track record in the lore.
. . . I'll admit, I don't know their track record in the lore, because I don't have much interest in Grey Knights. I bought a metal Terminator back in late 2005, because I thought it was a cool model. I painted him up nicely. He has since been mutilated with hobby tools and spare Saurus Warrior spears and red paint - which I regretted doing a couple of days or weeks later when the nerdrage subsided. Anyways, I assume they have an awesome track record in the lore.

That depends on who's doing the writing. They might have to sacrifice dozens of marines only to halt some daemonic threat and die like flies in the process; they might have impossibly awesome and ass-taking, name-kicking megaawesomesuperduper heroes who can best demon-pirmarchs in single combat.

I dislike the Dreadknight because it is incongruous with the rest of Imperium Technology. It looks way too polished and "advanced" compared to the rest of the Imperium factions' vehicles.
But yeah, the "Terminator Strapped to the front of a giant suit" concept doesn't help its cause any. Not the worst looking model in the 40K range (that honor belongs to the Storm Raven), but it's up there.

I may just be being stupid here, but what's MLP?
As to the Dreadknight itself, yeah, it's a bit silly, the baby-carry pilot looks off, and as a whole it's just something that really didn't seem to fit. GK's were always the guys fighting against the odds with their (relatively) measly marine bodies fighting gigantic daemons, not throwing out daemons equivalent things on their own. Having it as an MC when it's basically an Open Topped dreadnought certain doesn't help either.
That said, the inner cover art of the Dreadknight doesn't look too bad, where it has the pilots legs actually contained inside the Dreadknights legs with basically only the torso and arms exposed, that would have looked much better. The model itself is pretty and huge, but the pilot just makes it look silly.
There have been some excellent conversions though, closed cockpit ones in particular tend to look very cool.

Who cares. Fact is, the Dreadknight is the only "roughly-imperial" walker that looks like it could actually.. ya know.. walk. After 25 years of having to deal with gakky Mr. Strong-styled walking Washingmachines, it's a revelation. I bought 5 so far for my various armies, replacing the ugly Box-Dreads, etc.. and I don't even play Grey Knights. The model in itself made me spend more on GW stuff early last year than I did in the previous 5 or so. Every army should have one and never again blight a gaming table with ugly box-dreads. It's easily the best model GW put out in the last 15 years or so.
