So as you may already know you all voted for me to take IG to the INDY GT. Looking at my photo's I have somewhere over 100 pictures from the event. Here are a few of the armies and the prizes etc... I will try to fit the battle reports in later and maybe use the spoiler button to thumbnail the pictures to make it better for those out there with slower processors and connections

Yay for shiny stuff to win! ... hope I win the flowers for the old lady who hates me spending money on these trips

ya I took loads more but shortly after arriving I messed up the settings on my camera and didnt have time to fix it so some came out blurry and others were just too far gone. My battle reports will have a few blurry pictures but you will still be able to tell whats being showed in those ones.

LET IT BEGIN

Round 1 opponent: Joe Troxell (I believe he hailed from Iowa)

His Army:
Space Wolves:

Rune priest w/ cots, LL, Jaws

5 Wolf Scouts w/ meltagun (combi-melta)
5 Wolf Scouts w/ meltagun (combi-melta)
4 wolf guard wolf guard w/ combi meltas, 2 wolfguard w/ combi melta's powerfist, , 4 wolfguard 1 w/ SB, PW, CWL, 1 w/ SB, Chainfist, CML, 2 w/ combi-plasma and pw

7 grey hunters w. meltagun, wolf totem (wolfguard w/ powerfist & combi melta) Rhino
7 grey hunters w. meltagun, wolf totem (wolfguard w/ powerfist & combi melta) Rhino
10 grey hunters w. 2x plasma gun, wolf totem Rhino
5 grey hunters w. meltagun(wolfguard w/ combi melta) Razorback- Las/Plas
5 grey hunters w. meltagun(wolfguard w/ combi melta) Razorback- Las/Plas

4 Thunderwolves, Powerfist, SS

6 longfangs, 3 missle launcher and 2 lascannons Razorback- Las/Plas

Deployment: Pitched Battle
MISSION:
Primary- Seize Ground - 4 OBJ centered in each table quarter and 1 centered in the middle of the board.
Secondary- Kill points - Must win by 3 or more kill points
Tertiary Objective- Table Quarters - The player with the most victory points in each table quarter wins that table quarter. The player with the most table quarters wins.

Pre-game analysis: Alright I have a buddy who plays space wolves and he is one of the best SW players I know so I am very knowledgeable on what this army is capable of. This is precisely why I am very displeased with this first round match-up. The thunderwolf cav will be panicked off the board at least that is the plan. Good news is he only has one unit of long fangs . Bad news is he is bringing a healthy amount of melta to the table and I loathe Las/Plas (note plas usually kills me more then las for some reason ). Me and my opponent greet eachother and it goes well it appears it will be a fun game regardless the outcome. We roll to see who goes first and I win the roll.

Deployment:

I deploy my entire force. I place my infantry platoon on the right flank to hold that objective and to get a good firing base. I scout my CCS up with the 4 melta. One vendetta is held in reserve.

He places the Longfangs in the building on the left flank. They are all on the bottom floor which limits his vision though so that is good. He favors the right flank with a majority of his forces and places his terminators in the center. He keeps the wolves in reserve so they are not panicked off of the board.

He rolls to seize the initiative (most nerve wrecking part of the game as you manage to see the "6" like 10 times during this roll) IT flashes a 6 one last time before ending on a 4. IG goes first.

IG Turn 1:

I manage to wreck a razorback.

I also manage to destroy one razorback turret. Other then that it is a sub par shooting phase.

Space Wolves Turn 1:

He advances and fires at my vendetta with the CCS and wreck the vehicle . Shooting at my right flank manages to immobolize the other vendetta. I am finding this game going in the wrong direction fast.

IG Turn 2:
Dont know what happened but I believe I deleted the pictures as they were blurry. I shot his long fangs and then weakened there resolve they ran from the board. My CCS moved to the middle and shot the rhino to there front. I managed to wreck the damaged razorback and stunned the other one.

SW turn 2:
Same here for the photo. He rolls for reserves and brings in one unit of wolf scouts. They roll to come in anywhere and I force a re-roll but to no avail. They enter behind my formation of vehicles on the left flank and cause havoc silencing the matnicore's rockets and one of the hydra tanks is wrecked. You will see future pictures of me running like hell. He does some other shooting and blows a weapon off my immobile vendetta.

IG Turn 3:

MY company command squad continues to harass the enemy in the center. Not much happens besides be spreading out. The 2nd wolf scouts did not arrive yet. I start firing into the center to start the tedious task of chew my way through power armor. My vendetta wrecks his far right razorback finally. My psykers try to send the wolf scouts running but all the targeting into them does nothing and leaves me a sitting duck.

SW turn 3:

His second wolf scout unit comes in and of course it comes in wherever it wants. (it is starting to turn into a bad day for the guard and hopes of doing good in this tournament are gradually dwindling). They advance towards the Hammer(aka leman russ demolisher). He realizes that he might be out of range though and picks to target the manticore for the sure kill. He advances further into the center and engages the CCS. At this point my opponents dice are not his friend. He manages to wreck the psykers chimera and the wolf scouts blow up the manticore finally.

IG Turn 4:
The Vox Sounds: Alpha1 this is Raven3 I am at 2000 feet and can offer support wherever needed. Young Cpt Creed grabs the vox and coaches the young pilot to the left flank of the field. It seems the young flyer might change the tide in the battle.

CPT Creed Voxs Commissar Bellick to Advance with the platoon towards the center objective as the PCS has the rear objective secured. He affirms and starts screaming at guardsman. The commander advances up the right flank heading towards space marines holding the far objective, he has the driver utilize the vehicles smoke launchers to shield there advance. Fire is opened up across the field and devastate the space wolves vehicles. ALthough this is an immediate gain there is still a company sized element of space marines on the field. The wolf scouts begin to fall to sustained fire.

SW turn 4:
The young pilot barely made the field when he heard the howl of wolves.

The wolves come in and charge the vendetta without missing a beat. Even though the vehicle moved at a fast pace the wolves and there riders manage to hit an strike a blow with a powerfist rending the vehicles controls useless. The pilot yells for the Infantry squad to jump out as he lands the vehicle roughly. The space marines in the center finally charge the CCS and whipe out the CCS still on foot there. Another Squad opens up into the smoke and scores a hit on the chimera but the driver is still able to push onwards as the weapons systems go temporarily offline.

IG Turn 5:

The infantry squad in the back of the vendetta jump out and quickly run towards the ruins as the dogs are regrouping. The SGT yells out a sitrep over the vox. As if in the emporer himself had answered the Hammer steps to bare and opens up with its payload followed by any available weapon on the left flank of the battlefield. The sgt turns around to see one limping wolf and the enemy sgt. He gives the order and las fire and a demo charge fall into the ranks of wolves and as the smoke clears the SGT breathes a sigh of relief as the wolves had been annihilated under the sustained fire, This is Charlie35 threat eliminated, consolidating and cordoning objective zulu.

Cpt Creed's advisor informs him of the news and he affirms and orders the driver to speed ahead to obj yankee and to lower the back gate (the driver gives him a questioned look but does as ordered.) Cpt Creed leads his vets out of the back of the transport and immediately receives bolter fire. He barks out orders and melta guns open up on the exposed marines dropping all but one. The comissar leads the infantry platoon into the midst of the enemy Priest and his retinue.

SW Turn 5:

His lone space marine throws his bolter down and charges in with bolt pistol and chainsword. He kills a few guardsman before CPT Creed gets a shot off with his las pistol hitting the poor marine in the eye socket dropping him.

In the center the priest lets off his psychic fury. The commissar narrowly escapes the encounter but every other guardsman hit is killed by the jaws of the wolf. If Bellick hates anything more then cowardice it is psykers. The space marines charge into the ranks of the guardsman and start hacking away some of the local planetary militia. Bellick runs straight for the psyker and strikes a wound but the battle is halted as the space wolves begin to sound the retreat. The battle is won. Before Bellick gives chase the Vox sounds with the order to stand down and consolidate.

Results:
IG: Win the primary of objectives and the opponent concedes as victory is unattainable.

Battle analysis: Sorry if the report was a little spotty this tournament was 3 weeks ago and some of the pictures didnt come out. This game was an eye opener. I had some hardships in the first few turns but my opponents dice somewhat abandoned him and my reinforcements showed up when they were needed. Even though I was in trouble I kept my eye on the primary objective and kept at it until the numbers began to dwindle him down. Talking after the game my opponent contemplated starting the wolves on the board. However, starting them in reserve is what kept them alive. Had they started on the board he could of put them on the far side of the board and away from the psykers. Either way the game was a tough match up and one I would expect at the GT level. His scouts coming in on turn 2 and 3 wherever he wanted really hurt. I need to watch out for that in future games. In addition, his jaws of the wolf nearly killed my commissar which could of turned the tide in the battle. The CCS's in this game were gold. The sacrificial CCS survived for a couple of turns and distracted my opponent which allowed me to control the flanks and keep him refined to the center of the board. I sincerely hope my next opponent is a little easier as I am already beginning to feel drained after a near loss.

Round 2 will follow later. Hope you guys enjoy.

Alright without further a due here is round 2.

Round 2 Opponent: Joshua Cyrus (i believe another Iowa opponent)

His Army:
Dark Eldar

Unfortunately I failed to maintain positive control of Josh's list but here is a good account from memory.

HQ: Vect

Elite:
Trueborn with splinter cannons in venom
Trueborn with splinter cannons in venom
Trueborn with splinter cannons in venom

Troops:
5 warriors with blaster in raider w/ flickerfield x 6

Fast:
10 Scourges w/ 4 splinter cannons

Heavy:
Ravager w/ flickerfield
Ravager w/ flickerfield
Ravager w/ flickerfield

Deployment: Dawn of War
MISSION:
Primary- Table Quarters - The player with the most victory points in each table quarter wins that table quarter. The player with the most table quarters wins.
Secondary- Seize Ground - 4 OBJ centered in each table quarter and 1 centered in the middle of the board.
Tertiary Objective- Kill points - Must win by 3 or more kill points

Pre-game analysis: His list has a god awful amount of poison. I am thinking my infantry platoon will not survive this engagement. Luckily he only has by my count 21 blasters with only 15 that can shoot at long range and 9 of the long range have to shoot one target. I believe I can out shoot my opponent. I just need to make it past flickerfields when i do. Also as a secondary threat I dont wanna deal with is vect. If he can get into the platoon he could possibly tarpit them for the game but that would be an engagement I would not mind as I would be doing the same. None the less vect is a priority target if he is out in the open as it is table quarters and he is 12% of my opponents points.

I win the iniative which is always nerve wrecking because Vect can seize.

Deployment: I decide to play it a little risky to increase my fire I branch off one squad from the inf platoon and place them on the right flank objective utilizing high ground for cover. The main platoon lead by the stubburn comissar takes up position on the left flank and the platoon command squad deploys in the center to block him from deploying to far up. I elect to roll everything on. My opponent deploys nothing and decides to roll everything on turn 1.

My opponent surprises me when he elects not to seize.

IG Turn 1:

I roll everything on and move flat out in the vendetta's for the cover save. A few minor adjustments but the battle line is formed and the battle is set while I wait for the sun to rise.

Dark Eldar Turn 1:

My opponent rolls on and without skipping a beat, *spots*, fires 1 blaster that hits, penetrates, and explodes the far left vendetta. (100% efficiency) This could be a long game! He also starts the tedious process of poisoning my infantry platoon on the far left flank with his venoms that are places there. Vect is in the center of his battleline with one of the trueborn squads. He has 2 ravagers on the left flank and one on the far right flank. His warriors are split evenly 3 on each side of the field.

IG Turn 2:

I open up with everything I have. I drop the manticore on all of his piled up vehicles on the far left flank which is 2 venoms and 2 raiders however, I scatter off . One chimera manages to wreck the venom with vect in it. However, beyond this I either did no damage or he made his saves on his vehicles. Fortunately the turn did have its up sides.

The highlight of turn was 2 glancing shots that wrecked these vehicles. Kind of silly that penetrating shots did nothing but glances wrecked them both.

Dark Eldar Turn 2:

He starts advancing up both flanks as I am starting to gain fire superiority. He wrecks my far right flank chimera with the vets in it and shoots the far right vendetta shaking it . He moves a warriors squad up into the center and fires a blaster into the Hammer(Demolisher tank), luckily the armor holds up. Poison shots rain down on the infantry platoon and more guardsman fall to sustained splinter fire. Vect surprisingly remains stationary.

Mid game outlook: At the moment I am not feeling very confident about my chances in this one. With 2 vendetta's down and my firepower gradually decreasing it is now very much a pitched fight that actually favors my opponent who at this point has only lost 2 ravagers and 1 venom compared to my 1 vendetta; 1 Company command squad; 1 chimera; countless guardsman. I need to start advancing to get to the table quarters or to at least kill his troops for the secondary. I just cant seem to kill his units and if I get stuck out of my vehicles he can poison me to death.

IG Turn 3:

I begin to advance on the right flank but damage is minimal. Cant seem to get those 4+'s on the damage chart. On the left flank my chimera switches places with the demolisher and flames the squad in the middle but fails to kill them all, while the demolisher shoots and explodes his advancing units on the left flank. Other then this damage is again minimal. I manage to stun the far left raider.

DE Turn 3:

Vect begins charging up the center heading towards my tank and my chimera. He moves blasters over and opens up on the demolisher luckily no damage is done. Vect trips when he attempts to run not making it close enough to haywire the vehicles. His scourges advance and Splinter shots go into the far left infantry platoon killing everyone but 1 lascannon team. The lone team holds there ground apparently not believing that the commissar is actually dead . His one blaster in the middle wrecks my chimera and the squad is forced out.

IG Turn 4:

I advance up the right flank and finally start doing some real damage.

My demolisher moves to the left and kills his warriors with the blaster. I fire no less then 6 auto cannons shots, 1 lascannon weapons team, a squad of guardsman, and finally the vendetta to kill vect. After the loss of vect and a good portion of his fire power my opponent concedes. I happily accept as I believe my opponent could of still have given me a run for my money.

Game Results:
IG: Win the Primary as opponent concedes.

Battle Analysis: My opponent was kicking my ass for the first 2 turns and it wasnt looking good for the imperial guard. I was about to lose to Dark Eldar for the first time ever with my mech IG. I honestly think had my opponent been a little more aggressive he could of wiped the table of me. My opponent could not fail his flickerfields and he started out the game rolling beautifully with his lance weapons. I was happy when he conceded after vect died. I seriously thought it was still anyone's fight(if there is a chance to win dont give in... I will drive this point home later). I made a few errors starting of this game. I should not have advanced so far forward with my vendetta knowing full well he had night vision and fast vehicles. Again I find myself in a hard fought game. I am sincerely hoping my next opponent is a bit easier as I am already starting to feel the affects of the strenuous games. So I survive but this is my first 4 game day for a gt... whether I survive it only time will tell.

I will try to get the next report up by wednesday.

Nice batreps, your second one was quite surprising that he conceded so early really was absurd. I have oddly enough never conceded, because I am of the same mind of you, if I can pull something out of nothing I will try, that and I am stubborn. But good battle reports, gives us the information, if you want to add a bit more of your personal strat with each turn that would be chill too. But otherwise all good, will be ready and waiting to read the next 4.

I suppose I could do that. I like to go into character when I post my strategies or what I am trying to do but I could post it more formally. Would you prefer the mid-game analysis or a turn by turn of what I need to happen and how I am trying to achieve it. I have conceded before but that was only because I knew victory was unattainable. If I can give my opponent or myself extra time to recuperate I will. I am all for that especially if the game is already decided.

I tried to hide my excitement when he offered because I was not interested in what I saw as a potential nail biter. Sometimes players just get so much that happens at once and it breaks there spirit. I did a lot of damage this turn and probably nixed most of the plans he had for his turn and my infantry platoon being still alive probably wore him out as they were demoralizing to the enemy with there resiliency.

The MVP of the game was definitely the lone lascannon weapons team and of course the hammer. LVP was the manticore as it had trouble hitting.

very entertaining 2nd fight. I thought the DE really had it in the bag by turn 3. I honestly feel that some times we all need a little of Sgt Bastonne. Never give up, never surrender.

The game is just as much about beating your opponent psychologically as it is dice rolling I think.

Vect was a waste of points in this game honestly. You bring him to seize, which he opted not to do. If I watched my opponent literally waste an entire turns shooting to kill my HQ in an objective type game I would be ecstatic! I think he gave this one to you to be honest.

nice win. Dark Eldar players who rely on vect to seize are bad. If your a Dark Eldar general, and you dont full reserve against mech guard, or come in hard on a flank, your honestly bad and you need to go play space marines over DE. Every tournament I see this dark eldar gunline generals who let their army get alpha striked, and there bad.

Mabe he thought he would do more in night shooting?

I also dont understand why he didnt come in harder on a flank, and deny one of your flanks shooting, and then just turbo late game for objectives since hes going second.

I also have no idea why he conceded he wasnt loosing, and it was an objective game, where you had no units into the forward part of the field yet.

Regardless nice job on the win against a 1-0 opponent.

The opponent marked pre-game that he was still newish to the game and he seemed nervous. As for giving me the game. I said it was still a toss up, in that same turn I had wiped 2 of his troop choices out and weaken his right flank pretty good. It didnt look favorable but it was definitely not a lost cause.

Ya, figured you all would love that picture. Never got a chance to talk to them and find out how they did.

The primary was table quarters and I was entering his finally and he was running out of ways to contest mine point for point. He did more then i expected during night fight but I was happy I was getting to shoot at him on my turn 2 first. Although it was very disappointing for a list with my amount of shooting to only pull off 2 wrecks. The only reason I finally shot vect is I didnt want him bringing the 240 pts (12%) of his army killing machine into my left table quarter. He remarked during and after the game that dark eldar can lay down the damage but they have a problem staying ahead in the long haul.

A cornfield somewhere in Iowa

2 opponents from Iowa is interesting. With GT's doing well in Minneapolis, Omaha, and now over in Indianapolis, Des Miones might be a good spot regionaly to pull players in for one there.

Nice reports.

Leman Russ Demolisher w/ Hull HF

Deployment: Spearhead
MISSION:
Primary- Modified Captre and Control with 3 objectives - one in the center of the board and one in each deplyment zone at least 12" away from the center objective. The player who controls the most objective wins.
Secondary- Kill points - Must win by 3 or more kill points
Tertiary Objective- Table Quarters - The player with the most victory points in each table quarter wins that table quarter. The player with the most table quarters wins.

Pre-game analysis: First off a player doesnt travel from maryland to lose so I am pretty sure this is going to be a tough match-up so I am actually really nervous an excited at the same time. Secondly my opponent hands his list over in a laminated sheet so kudos to him but again something that shows that my opponent is a veteran to GT's. Looking at my opponents list it is a nightmare. With as much firepower that he has it will really come down to who can get first turn and cripple the other player. That is nice and good except... you guessed it he wins to go first. As he deploys his army I am stuck with the dilema of what to start on the board and what to place in reserves. I cant go full reserves because if I do I will get shot off the board if I come in piecemeal but then again I dont want everything on the board either or I risk being crippled irreparably early on. It appears my IG have finally met there match and it will come down to me to mitigate the damage. The one good thing about going 2nd in objective games is you get the last turn to make those last minute grabs...(if you have anything left to do it with that is).

Fluff (because I am fighting fellow guard I deem fluff is necessary on why the engagement came to be): The 56th Mechanized division had just wrapped up the engagement with the dark eldar and set up a hasty defense in some ruins 10 klicks from the site of the previous engagement. The vehicles were off to the depot to get refueled and only a few were present when a spotter on the wall set off an alarm. CPT Creed ran up to the ruins with his 2nd in command and his advisor. Imperial forces were setting up a cordon of there position at the 12 through 3 o'clock. CPT Creed focused his optics and recognized the flag of the Defenders of Miler Voles. He grabbed the vox, "This is CPT Creed of the 56th Mechanized division I request an audience with the commander of Miler Voles." The vox layed silent for a long 30 seconds. Creed growing increasingly angry goes to repeat the message when the vox comes to life, "This is the commander of Miler Voles contingent, you are ordered to surrender immediately and turn over all munitions and supplies." Creed looked to his fellow officers with a shocked look like he was expecting the punch line to a bad joke. "Under what authority is this request being made?" Creed boldly asked. "This authority!" Was the only response he received before hearing the words, "INCOMING!"

Deployment:

I decide to deploy one vendetta with the sacrificial CCS and scout it up the right flank. I deploy my infantry squads with one separated so I could focus on separate targets and possibly increase the possibility of one of them staying alive to hold my objective. I deploy my 2 hydra flak tanks, my CCS in the Chimera to give orders. At this point all I can do is hope and prey they survive the the barrage. He deploys everything except the two lone flamer squads that stay in reserve. He has his manticores on the back right of his flank.

Enemy IG Turn 1:

He moved up his valk and drops the special weapons squad out to shoot down my vendetta. Miraculously I survive the encounter. He moves his CCS up the right flank and the demolisher. His two infantry squads with autocannons stay on his left flank.

The rest of my army was not as fortunate. Two manticores = HOLY ! He destroys one of the hydra's shoots the missles off my manticore and explodes my chimera.

56th IG Turn 1:
I have a choice now with my vendetta. I can move up and try to take a long shot at one of the manticore's with the CCS or I can take out the demolisher which is obviously a huge threat that is approaching my lines. I make the call:

I jump out and blow up the demolisher and fire a lascannon into the rear of the valkyrie, unfortuantely it is only shaken . Other shotting does minimal damage.

The less pictures I have the more focused on the game I was. So not as many pictures in this game unfortunately.

Enemy IG Turn 2:

He blows up the lone vendetta and shoots the CCS there killing them down to just the Company Commander because he makes an invul save . He advances his veterans up the left flank and turbo boost the vehicles that cant shoot. His manticore's start working on Infantry platoon holding my objective. The numbers are already starting to dwindle.

56th IG Turn 2:

I get the demolisher, 1 vet squad, and 1 vendetta to come in from reserves. The vendetta comes in on the left flank with the demo charges . I bring in my demolisher on the right flank and immobilize it as soon as it hits terrain . I foolishly bring in my Vet squad on the far right flank to shoot the side armor of the manticore's in an attempt to silence them. My demolisher shoots and explodes the valkyrie in the middle. My vendetta on the left flank shoots his in the center and explodes it. My Infantry platoon fired at is as well not sure which brought it down. Shooting at his charging chimera's doesnt bare froot and ramming them with the manticore didnt work either (was worth a shot). MY LONE COMPANY COMMANDER on the left flank charges in and kills his special weapons squad and then consolidates in the the crater left by the vendetta.

Mid game analysis: I have finally dealt some damage but I am still way behind in this game. So far I have taken out a Special weapons squad, 1 valk, 1 vendetta. Thats it. I have basically lost my manticore as it cant shoot, 1 vendetta, got the demolisher immobolized, lost nearly all mobility, and my infantry platoons are running out of wound counters. Add this to the fact that he has 2 units of vets with flamers in my face and Ide say this game is a about to become very onesided.

Enemy IG Turn 3:

He turns his manticores and shoots at my far right chimera but luckily I only lose a multi-laser over the ordeal. He fires his vendetta at my vendetta and I survive it surprisingly but then his autocannon penetrates with a 6 and then wrecks the vehicle . He advances to start claiming the middle objective and kills some of the guys on my objective. He fires at my Lone Commany commander again but I survive it(because he had nothing to shoot at with the squad inside).

Somewhere in here my opponent offers to call the game as he see's it really has the potential to become a one sided affair he makes this offer in turn 3 or 4 not sure which. However, I am relatively sure I have a shot at the primary. I dont need to win all 3 I just need to win primary. A simple 1 to 0 wins it. So it becomes my sole focus.

56th Mechanized Turn 3:

My vendetta comes in and makes it to the right flank luckily. MY last Reserved Vet squad rolls in near my side and I consider suiciding them into the enemy vets but elect to play it safe and pop smoke. I talk about gaining kill points(the secondary aka least of my worries) as I move my Flamer squad in the vendetta onto his objective and they disembark and light up his squad holding it and my vendetta shoots into the rear of his vendetta but roll a 1 to penetrate . The Chimera on the far right flank shifts into full gear trying to make it to the center(i pop smoke and cross my fingers). My CCS moves up and damages his front vet chimera.

Enemy Turn 4:
He pulls some units back to his objective and blow my PCS to hell. The sgt fails his leadership and falls back. He fires into my right flank chimera but it survives the shots. His vendetta somehow does not bring mine down. He moves up onto the middle objective with one of his squads. He shoots some more into my infantry platoon and the other squad there as well as the CCS squad. My Company Commander is killed but one lone melta stays behind. Very few guys are holding my far left objective and at the moment he holds his and the center one.

56th Mechanized Turn 4:
There is a little time left I believe so I make sure I do everything right on this one. I move the vendetta up to make sure I contest his objective. I move the manticore to contest the middle objective. My company command squad on the right flank elects to move flat out towards his objective in his deployment zone as I believe it is the last turn and I would rather be safe then sorry on the kill points and dakka that squad to death if possible. I said well we can stop here that is primary.. as there is only 10 minutes left and they already made the call to not start another turn.

My opponent wants to start another turn and he asked judges and they say they have a built in time for another turn. I inform them that I moved as if it was the last turn literally only moving things that mattered and leaving myself very exposed. They let me atleast change what a unit was going go to do as they start the turn with 7 minutes left in the round and my opponent with every thing in site to win. I swallow the ruling and accept it but I am obviously displeased with the decision that is likely gonna cost me the game. Either way its the decision so we drive on. They do inform my opponent that he has 7:30 to do his turn then I get 15 for mine I guess because he went first.

Enemy Turn 5:
He moves his vet chimera around to block me from getting in with my vets near my objective. His melta vets run over to kill my manticore. His squad moves on his objective. He gets his other vet squad into my objective where the infantry platoon is finally wiped out and fails its leadership both squads flee with no chance to rally. He shoots everything into my vendetta but manages only to immobilize it and stun it. They call dice down as he has reached his time. He ask if he can atleast shoot my manticore in the middle. They let him and it explodes. He is now winning 2 to 0. My vets that were on the right flank finish the combat and kill his CCS I consolidate some towards the middle.

56th Mechanized IG Turn 5:
By the time its my turn I have already gone through 5 or 6 different moves for multiple units as I was digging for anything I could do. I move my lone Company Commander and the vet squad towards the center objective they get close but they will need to run. Instead of shooting to the middle objective I go for my own driving my chimera around his blocking one and disembarking the squad on the objective with the hopes of killing what remained of his vet squad. I fire everything I have into them. He goes to ground and his last 3 models go down to las fire and I breathe a sigh of relief. I go to run the squad in the middle to contest and roll a 1 . It was literally going to be down to centimeters. I did not even wanna touch my model. We had the judge take the tac template and measure to see if I was within 4" and I was a hair under.

Game Results:
56th Mechanized Division wins primary (by literally the length of the hair on my chin

Battle Analysis:
Holy this game was tense. Neither me or my opponent held anything against anyone or each other it was a really tough fought game and in the end I was able to escape an almost certain loss. Playing several missions can sometimes confuse some players or add extra objectives that might not matter if the primary is achieved. I knew my best hope for winning this game was the primary and so I played with that sole objective in mind. Even though my forces were decimated and would of probably been wiped from the board had we gone on to 7 turns I won the day holding the objectives with a ratio of 1 to 0. I have now had 3 tough games and the sick part is I have to play a 4th round before the day is over. Staying up until 2 am painting the night before was a bad idea. Mike was a great opponent and the match was calm and well handled despite the crazy ending. I look forward to possibly facing him again down the road.

Game 4 will hopefully be up by the end of the week.

Post Fluff:
"Sir there withdrawing!" One of the soldiers happily proclaimed as indeed the enemy forces that were still functional were forced to withdraw as the 56th Mechanized division held the only remaining fuel depot and without fuel the enemy force was defeated. Creed looked around his forces had suffered a heavy toll but the enemy had left several vehicles and munitions as they retreated so there was still hope that the Indy planet could be captured by imperial forces. He couldn't understand why the stubborn enemy commander had engaged them so openly and he swore he would not be caught off guard in such a way again. "Commissar Bellick order the men to get ready we break camp in an hour, we shall investigate this matter further!" The commissar went to yelling as CPT Creed turned to watch the departure of the enemy force with unanswered questions nagging his conscience....

very nice 3rd game. I love those tense fights for good or ill, it's always memorable.

Question for you though: You rolled a 1 to pen on the vendetta

I think it was bottom of turn 3. Anyways, if you got a 1, don't you still glance it (las cannon str 9 + 1 = 10 vs rear armor 10 = glance) and at the least should get a shaken? How come it was shooting at you again next turn?

His vendetta somehow does not bring mine down

I rolled poorly I know that much. maybe it was both a miss to hit roll's on the twin linked las cannons because that thing fired its payload at me. At the most I might have taken a weapon from it. Either way I was disappointed in the shot

....? looking at the report I was thinking.. Where the hell was my psyker battle squad? I think I forgot to bring them in or they failed to come in and turn 5 I didn't need them to accomplish the crazy finish so i moved them in on the right flank. Also after counting it up. I had claimed the secondary if I needed it. 10-7 even though my units were damaged and messed up they were still alive. Here is a summary:

My units that died: Manticore, PCS, Inf Squad, Inf Squad, 2 vendetta's, CCS chimera 7 kp

Units that survived but were damaged: CCS was down to just the commander, CCS was down to one lone melta gunner, Vendetta was immobilized, Demo vets were beat up from fighting his flamer infantry squad, demolisher was immobilized, hydra had lost a weapon and one had been blown up.
So my army was just refusing to expire.

His units that died: 2 inf squad with flamers, CCS, CCS Chimera, Demolisher, valkyrie, vendetta, vet squad, vet chimera, special weapons squad. 10 kp

His units that were damaged: I think maybe his vendetta lost a lascannon... everything else was still functional so I definitely made every bit count.
