I'm from the future. The future of space

It's the first battle colossal that I like and would actually want to see on the table for the model alone.

But I'm still against Warmachine/Hordes changing to a game where the warbeasts and warjacks are no longer the big things, but the tiny things. That totally ruins what attracted me to the game in the first place.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Well, lets look at this statement. We have Small, Medium, Large, and Huge bases.

Warjacks fall in the Medium/Large category. They are hardly considered tiny compared to infantry.

Try to see it more from a ground troop perspective. A tank is common, and huge. But super tanks exist and are bigger, just very rarely deployed.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

I think as far as tournament play goes it should be capped at battle engines. It just gets silly otherwise IMO.

I was quick to post and say the Cryx Kraken was an ugly model.

But I have to say the Mountain King is amazing.

Or they understand that perfectly fine, but they realize that doesn't obligate them to like it.

This is illogical and also untrue.

I fully understand WHY they are being released.

I can ALSO feel that they steal the warjacks thunder at the same time and not enjoy that fact.

On top of that I find many of them unappealing design-wise which also makes sad panda sad...

not to devalue anyones opinion or anything but the argument some folks have against the colossals and gargantuans were the same arguments folks had against character jacks/beasts

that they take away from jacks and beasts

come to think about it its also the same agurment folks put up against battle engines

and cavalry

and infantry

huh. imagine that.

Which coincides with some people's belief that what made the game so special and interesting in the beginning has become more and more diluted.

huh imagine that...

Can we just stop arguing about the direction of the game and talk about the pros and cons of the model in question?!

Dang is that too much to ask?

I can't even enter a PP N&R Thread without seeing the same argument pop up every time.

I for one like the look of this model I've been looking forward to this model since the sneak peeks. I love the look of it, it's going to be a pain in the butt to paint, but that's the same deal with every big model.

I personally think the pose is perfect, simply because it looks like Mulg's pose, so... I might make a nice little conversion with one

ooh i hit a nerve.

like i said im not saying the opinion isnt valid.

but i imagine if the game was "all warjacks all the time" we'd be hearing complaints about everything being the same/bland

and theres always the Mangled Metal/Tooth and Claw(my fave format btw) format if you really want to focus on beasts and jacks.

The two are interlinked especially considering this is a new class of model type...

I personally love Mangled Metal/Tooth and Claw, but the game becomes unbalanced if one person is doing this, and the other isn't, especially with Khador Jacks... 6 jacks with 34 boxes each? Holy hell. And your comment didn't hit a nerve. In fact I don't know why people are complaining about things like Cav, infantry, and battle engines. I only see Steelhead cav, and that was only because our Pressganger was trying a really odd build, and they were only in his 50point list and up. And the same goes with battle engines, I only see them in Unbound Games.

Considering we know nothing about the rules, and simply know the name and what the model looks like, there is no link between game and model at this time. When we know more about how colossals work and have actual stats, then yeah, I can see people complaining about colossals. And for 20 points, 2 cards with hit boxes isn't that game breaking when you consider that your average warcaster has 6 warjack points, and few people I know spend more than 15 or 16 points on jacks unless they are a "jack caster" so colossals are still warjacks and warbeasts, they're just a different breed. How is this an issue?

Colossals is just like 40k Apoc, no one is telling you that you have to play by these rules, or buy the 99 dollar Baneblade kit to enjoy 40k. The teaser for colossals on the website says to "Brace yourself for full scale warfare" The story advances and we all get to see what happens to our favorite caster. The additional models are simply that, additional models.

Now can we please go back to discussing the aesthetics of the model?

@Alfndrate

I was addressing CT in my previous post.

And yes people did complain about every new addition to the game. There would always be folks who would call doom about every new expansion or unit or whatever. Every new thing was "dooming" PP or WMH or theyd "quit" over it. Perfectly valid for people to feel that way .

The game is still around though.

going back to the model my biggest complaint about it is that its too close to Mulg's design that yes it does take away from Mulg's awesomeness. In this case i would agree. I'd still like to own one though...makes me think of getting my Trolls back from a friend i sold em to

Fluff-wise Hoarluk almost died when he met Mulg and got the big lug to fight for the trollbloods

I wonder how the heck they convinced the Mountain King?

I imagine a disembodied Hoarluk head hopping over to Madrak

"i've got good news!!"

If I believe what I've read about them online, they were awakened by Dhunia. They might already be obedient (to the extent of control you can exert over a beast the size of a mountain)
