At you local GW or other hobby store you play or convene at?

At my store I am the only person who plays Imperial Guard, everyone else plays mostly Xenos (Necrons, Orks, Eldar ect) or Space Marines (Grey Knights included), so I never need to worry about stock, and they are always having sales on the IG merchandise to sell more. Ironically, I probably fund every staff members pay roll with all the crap I buy. I once had them order 4 Lord Commissars for me, which they did. They always have great Customer Service. I also buy lot's of Super Heavy crap and I love Black Library so I buy books as well.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

I've traditionally been the only person, or the only other person to play guard, and I'm the only person I've seen in person to play a foot horde (well, I suppose a drifter came in once with a green tide, but otherwise)...

Yeah, I've generally been unique or nearly unique.

Oh, and I'm also the only person I've seen with a non-tan brown army, and certainly the only brown and white guard army.

Our store has literally 6 or 7 IG players (counting me) and several more at another local store nearby. For some reason, everyone and their mom has an IG army around here, but that could be because we allow cheaper stand ins like WGF greatcoats and the like to be used instead of cadians.

Now orks on the other hand... I'm literally the only guy at our store with an ork army, and its barely 500pts. I need to expand on it once I get my guard army painted up.

I'm the only one at my particular store that I've ever seen play Eldar though I know there are a few more who go there that own an Eldar army. I still have yet to see them play it though. He's kind of a power gamer, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's because he refuses to play such an outdated codex. Doesn't bother me though. Just means that my opponents have less practice dealing with fancy space-elves and their wizardly ways.

That's got to feel strange.

At my store of roughly 12 regulars, 2 play BA all the time, and another like 4 have a BA army that gets occasionally drug out (mostly for tournaments. I'd like to see YOU play a 1500 point game in 60 minutes).

Hard to be unique when you play Codex Marines, but I'm apparently the only one who paints them Crimson Fists. Is that worth something?

Am I the only one who hears that and thinks of a Gay Pride Parade? Because that would totally be awesome.

To keep this post contributory, I add this. There's a guy in my FLGS who plays Codex Marines, but gives them a crimson and gold colorscheme, and plays them as Hylian Knights. XD It's honestly pretty win.

I don't play in stores.
It makes me feel "dirty".

As to being an 'original snowflake' at the clubs I play at?

Nope. I turned up to one and was told, point-blank, that I was "NOT allowed" to play with any army that someone else in the club was already using.

So I started GK. Then three other players started GK (from BA and SW) and the club policy suddenly disappeared.

I play with the armies I like to play with. Eldar, Vanilla marines, GK and guard (although the guard are getting a do-over and will likely never see another 40k game ever) and I don't care if I'm not an original individual snowflake for doing so.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

However I'm the only one who uses thunderfire cannons, vespid, tau without battlesuits, marine bikers, footslogging chaos and some more rare to see units.

Oddly, I'm the only ork player with any killer kans. Everyone else has looters and wagons/trucks.

I'm probably the only "jock" (by jock I mean I mountain bike, Kayak, and ski) that goes to my store.

Nothing against nerds but I hate going to local stores because I literally have nothing in common with other people there other than 40k and most of them talk about World of Warcraft, Dragons and other nonsense.

Dear lord. I went to I-Con once with a bunch of friends, and there was a massive LARP battle in the courtyard outside. Before that, I didn't actually think people really did that. xD

^This. While I'd definitely consider myself a nerd (fairly indoors-y, not overly athletic, etc.) I can totally understand walking into a game store and being blown away by the sheer nerdity of some of the people there. Luckily I'm at least able to relate with them and the things they talk about.

I'm the only Crimson Fists player at my club. Pretty much everyone has Marines of some flavor, but nobody else uses Sternguard to the degree I do, if at all. My Iron Warriors are also unusual for a Chaos army at my club, since they tend to have lots of daemons and DPs while I have no daemons of any sort and lots of Vindicators.

Generally I play armies that other people also play, but my particular builds and paint schemes differ.
