Im here on campus scared to death of finals.
Then i realised, I know everything about 40k then i do about school(despite the fact i have 3.5)
I know the STR, Range AP of nealy every weapon off the top of my head. I know the price of nearly every unit both point wise and cash wise.
I also know more about painting then i do math.
I can remember everything about this game, But nothing aabout dividing of radical expressions.
Anyone else feel like this?

It's natural. Things you're interested in nest themselves firmly into your mind. I had a friend that could tell you exactly what car was coming down the road by the shape of the headlights.

I often feel like you do though, I wish I could have found the same interest for Physics as I have painting these toys. It would make me more employable in the real world.

For example; I have 5000 words to write by tomorrow morning and I'm on Dakka.

"If you don't have Funzo, you're nothin'!"
"I'm cancelling you out of shame, like my subscription to white dwarf"

Consider this: How many hours a day of how many days of the week are you painting, playing, building, or posting 40k and wargaming related things? You enjoy it, so you do it a lot. Schoolwork is less fun, so you don't spend as much time with it if you can avoid it. That's the long and the short of it. Even so, when I'm at work I'm thinking about gaming, posting online, or coming up with paintschemes whenever things slow down. When I was in college I was scribbling out army lists and cartoons during classes that weren't holding my interest. It's what people do; they focus on hobbies and things they like instead of what they have to do.

Then I realized I've memorized a few codexs and half the rule book haha
Grimdark Futures are just a bit more interesting than school haha

Not really. I like to think that I'm far better as a functioning adult than I am as an encyclopedia for wargaming.

I was probably that way in college and law school.

Now that I work full time, I game less and, well, work more.

I might actually know more about social security disability law than I do about 40k...

I don't dig on ponys, but I certainly wouldn't judge. Especially since I play with plastic toys.

I can emphathize, OP. Though, to a certain extent. I could just as easily lecture someone about the Soviet Union, or the American Civil War, and talk about just as much about those topics than I could say about 40K. Though, it doesn't help that I'm on Dakka instead of writing my research paper due in a few days.

Theres not exactly a huge job market for theoretical physicists...

It's because you like it. For example, I taught myself all the basics of guitar in a month but I can't for the life of me teach myself a proper Spanish accent para escuela to save my life If only rolling your r's were as easy as scales...

It'd probably be more beneficial to listen to native Spanish speakers in order to form said accent. I've been hearing Spanish my entire life - *points at location* - and have been told that I have a very natural accent, yet can't speak it fluently. I do agree that double r's are insane.

I haven't had the issues you're describing OP. I'm currently studying IT, and have found it very helpful that I'm turning the hobby I've had for nearly my entire life into my career to be one of the best decisions I've done. Then again, not everyone has a hobby that can be easily turned into a career.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Well if I had listened to native Spanish speakers on youtube instead of listening to guitar players on youtube, I didn't learn the accent and instead learned guitar because I had an interest in it so I spent more free time on it.

Also i got into ponies because if my love of gender studies in how gender forms and bronies make for an interesting case in the breakdown of gender norms and how people react to those breakdowns.

That's pretty much the situation for 95% of the human race. You've got to get your priorities in order. Find what you want out of life, then work towards that. It's not all going to work, and nothing's ever going to be perfect, but that's life. It's up to you to make the best of it. You don't have to be some kind of specialist or virtuoso in order to enjoy yours.

Peope hate bronies? I love 'em, that quiz on OP's sig landed me a Rainbow Dash....woot! I think haters've been on the high side of those scales since 4chan cave and added /mlp. Srsly Aux, tolerance.

On Topic - I don't think it's out of the ordinary that you feel that way Hotsauceman1, after all everyone likes the fun stuff. But (I'm hoping) you're not doing things like deciding to trip over to the gamestore instead of going to class or other things like that. Just because you remember fun things more often doesn't mean you're not retaining the important stuff for when you need it most.

Bottom line ... "Ah if only 40K paid six figures."

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!
