Seems to me that every new book comes with something big and silly to drum up excitement and figure sales (occasionally at the expense of....you know, fixing the book), as was the case of the new empire, what with demi gryphons, the hurricanium/luminark and the like.

So, with bretonnia having gone 8 years and all, what do you folks think we shall get?

My heart makes me hope it will be the occasionally rumoured ethereal cavalry, my head makes me suspect it will be some silly oversized monster that wont fit in my case.

They might get a new monster for Lords to ride, maybe a plastic Trebuchet, and possably a Knight riding a big monster.

It does seem likely, though if they made hippogryphs cheaper or better they wouldn't need a new mount.

I would like to see peg knights with the wings folded back so they can actually rank up the way they are supposed to.

A new hippogriff model, ala Karl Franz, that can be made into the king or a lord on a hippo seems likely, and maybe some additional characters. As for the luminark/Coven throne type of kit, I could see a chariot of some form but it is anybody's guess.

Theres going to be a giant thingy of sorts, thats no secret for sure. A likely thing would be some altar of the grail/lake/lady or something

Maybe blackpowder weapons can come back (they did use a bombard right WAY back then I think)

I am not a fan of Bretonnia as it stands right now so feel free to take this with a pinch of salt, but I think they need a reboot if they're going to get out of their current rut - a poor man's griffon isn't going to cut it. There are some great chivalric fantasy factions out there, but the Bretonnians' 6th edition reimagining as a bunch of bastards lording it over a bunch of inbred imbeciles limits them to being an unlikeable historical army instead of an enjoyable fantasy army.

I recently bought a Bret battalion for kicks... I'm convinced the new big shiny will be a completely redone army. The army only has ~14 total choices, and very little little of the metal has been converted to Finecast. The plastics aren't terrible, but are dated. I think once GW decides on what they are going to do with Not-Empire it'll be easy to do a total revamp a la Dark Eldar.

My own theories aside- a double pack for trebucet/some new war machine.

I think Brets need to have their fantasy aspect emphasised. They're a bit too historical for me ATM-but they are something I'm keeping eye on!! SOme of the stuff I've thought of that might be nice is....

lance fomation gets improved-impact hits, reduces steadfast, causes fear.

Warhorses get extra attacks/armour

Better magic

Pilgrims get re-jigged to be more effective heavy infantry

Kniights on Foot (Knights Penitant??)

Female "knights" who fanatically follow the Lady (really want to call them Iron Maidens.. \m/ \m/)

Option for flying Unicorns (Unipegasi??)

Dragon..

Dragons are for slaying, not for riding. And alicorns suffer from the same problem as hippogriffs - unicorns are more significant if they're not watered down by hybridisation.

Knights on foot and female knights are both things I like from other, better chivalric fantasy factions - the problem would be transplanting them into cavalry-happy, bigoted Bretonnia.

A giant flying castle/tower?

multiple trebuchets, bowmen inside, and a small transport ability for your foot knights?

I would guess some kind of lady of the lake item, alter, with the maidens crewing it is possible.

I'm also expecting the Green Knight to make a comback.. on a forest Dragon.

Not sure really, will be interesting to see what mind.

Thanks to the lack of lore (Seriously, Wood elves and Bret have like the least lore out of them all) they are mostly under-represented as whole. Nobody brings up all the damsels, the magical forest things, the fact that the grail knights alone should be near immortalized due to drinking from the cup.

I'd say if they want to keep it as historically lords and peasants, have them emphasize the Damsels role in the knights lives more, along with emphasis on how the quests work. I mean really, the entire army gets a 6 to 5++ ward save because of a Super-Natural Prayer, that's very magic like.

The only other race that gets a near universal ward save? Requires either magic (Empire, requiring a unique and magically enchanted thing) and Daemons (which have a universal ward save) A 5++ against strong things isn't something that's a universal constant in historical accuracy.

The correct term is Pegacorn.

They're actually mentioned by Pliny the Elder.

This would be cool. Having a wizards tower with a damsel in being pushed by peasents.

Also, a big horse. Like a horse, but big.

What?

No, Brettonia isn't going to get Monstrous Infantry. Monstrous Cavelry maybe, but certaintly not Infantry.

Maybe a unit of Hippogryph knights. Something like 80 points each but extremely deadly.

We've already got monsterous cav, we were the first (to my knowledge) to do so. Forgotten the Pegasus Knighs, did we?

I've heard rumors that we'll get a Treb/flaming catapult kit. Given the new Imperial Griffin kit, I think a new, larger Hippogriff kit is a given. (Just what we need. An even bigger target without any saves for our lords to have shot out from under them. )

I'd bet on a rework of the Grail Reliquae, maybe a combo kit with a Grail Shrine of some sort vaguely reminiscent of the new Empire carts or the DE Cauldron.

Infantry will get slightly more expensive to pay for Steadfast. Knights will get cheaper because of steadfast. Treb will get the double whammy, and get nerfed as well as taking a big boost in cost (a la the empire's Mortar).

Then there is the question of the 'spirits' mentioned in the 8E BRB. What form will they take? Could be just about anything.

IMO pegasus knight will be made tougher to deal with all the new monstrous infantry/cavalry romping around
there will be more middle class models (like foot yeoman)
and grail pilgrims wont be WS 2
