Dont know what relic is doing with DoW3, but CoH2 is definitely coming out

http://pc.ign.com/articles/122/1224442p1.html

Following last week's leak, THQ has officially announced Company of Heroes 2. In development at Relic, the real-time strategy sequel will be focus on fighting on the Eastern Front during World War II, where you'll play as the Russian army and push back German forces.

Scheduled to launch in early 2013, it sounds as though Company of Heroes 2 will include some of the first game's features including destructible environments and commander abilities, and, judging by the screenshot, will look a lot prettier thanks to Relic's proprietary Essence 3.0 Engine.

THQ also revealed plans for downloadable content following launch, though did not specify how many pieces of downloadable content would be released, when, or how much content would be included with each release.

An excellently put together World War II game.

A sequel to one of the best RTS game ever made which covers a side of the war that is rarely (if ever) covered by RTS games.

Hmm I wonder if it has been programmed in Russia as well?

If World of Tanks is anything to go by, we'll have conscripted German infantry firing water pistols again Russian super-blimps firing laser beams that automatically kill anything they shoot at

Seriously though the first one was a great game, hopefully this one will follow suit!

I have acctualy. CoH vanilla, Opposing Fronts and Tales Of Valour. The only thing that saved the series was Opposing Fronts, who made MP sligthly more intresting but that still remains dull as frak

I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

Eastern Front was a horrible mod. The Russian faction was so blatantly overpowered the Devs didn't even try to hide it.

There is only one good CoH mod. Blitzkreig

I don't like the look of that screeny though, I hope they stick to the basics of the first game rather than going all OMGTANKS AND PLANES AND SHINY THINGS.

Its on steam, slated for 2013

And...umm....Steam has turned into Kickstarter?

They now have a "pre purchase" percentage bar. More pre purchases, more rewards

And now I have to debate if I want to pre-purchase it. I dont usually get Pre-buys usually just picking it up on the first special that the game gets.

The only thing I care about is that last reward set. (Dont play TF2, Already own Retribution and all my friends own it too, and the skins for my T-34 are whatever) and im not sure if thats worth the 15 dollars I could save on picking up the first sale

I went to pre purchase it and then saw that for some unfathomable reason it is priced at £40, I will wait for it to be on sale thanks.

The tier 3 rewards strongly hint at microtransactions. That is something that I find a little disturbing given that this is a (more than) full price game.

Steam has used the same tiered reward system with XCOM.

This just adds to my reasons for not wanting this game, if I have to pay even more for extra units or other types of rewards in game. And particualry for MP units or such then I wont go near this game. But if these rewards only apply to SP then perhaps if it comes on sale sometime I may buy it

The only reason this is being done is because THQ is losing money, and it's losing it fast, it's stocks have gone down from .70 a share, to about .40, having to bring in stock consolidation to prevent them falling off the board. Since this, their stocks have risen about another few cents I believe, so I'm pretty sure I know why they're doing it.

Thats what I think as well. The problem is though is that increasing prices simply doesn't work. When CoH2 went up for preorder it was #2 on the Steam top seller list, it is now # 12. For a sequel to one of the best (if not the best) RTS games ever made I find that a little suprising and I can only assume that the price is keeping people away, its certainly made me wait until it is on sale. The per order tier meter is moveing quite slowly as well, its only at about 30% on teir 1 at the moment.

If it was priced at £30, the standard RRP for new games, I would have already bought it.

Their stock price has jumped around all over the place. The average investor doesn't really know jack gak about the gaming industry, so it's no surprise that they misinterpret a few reviews and panic despite the fact that the company is making profits off of a large majority of its products.

While I don't disagree that they're doing this for the sake of a profit (a fairly obvious conclusion really), I'm just saying don't read too much in to stock prices. Sometimes stock prices are just the random whims of a leaderless herd.

Many, if not most AAA PC titles are the same price as console games nowadays; this pricing is nothing new. Guild Wars 2 was $59.99 as well.

There aren't that many £40 games and they tend to be CoD and its ilk. £30 is still the standard price for AAA games.

It used to be $49.99 for AAA here as well, but over the last year or so console prices have been creeping in. The point being that THQ isn't the only one to make their big titles on PC the price of console games. People are paying (or were) $59.99 for CoD, Battlefield, Starcraft II, Diablo III, and Skyrim, so it only makes sense for other companies to follow suit. I'm not saying I like it, I'm just saying it is happening, and it doesn't have anything to do with THQ stock prices.

That was a long time ago.

The original Company of Heroes was sold at 60 when it first came out. Last year? Games have been in the $60s for at least like 5 years. I remember when Mass Effect 2 came out I was surprised my friends rushed off to buy it at $60. Im trying to remember when was the last time a AAA game came out that was less than $60 at launch

I actually meant over the last few years, not the last year. Yes, it has been happening longer than one year, as I even listed games that were from more than a year ago. I didn't get CoH when it first came out so I couldn't tell you what it's launch price was, though it doesn't surprise me that it was also at that level.

Your post is confusing. It agrees with me that being $59.99 shouldn't be surprising as it has been trending that way for some time, but is written as such as that it comes across as if you are also disagreeing at the same time.

If you look at the Steam top 100 there are 6 games over £30. 3 COD games,(£39.99), Darksiders II (£34.99), Carrier command (£31.99), football manager 2013 (£39.99). Aside from Carrier Command all of these are part of the sequel treadmill which have always been overly expensive. Everything else is less than £30, including brand new games like XCOM, Borderlands 2 and Max Payne 3.
