Thousand Sons Battleship wandering the galaxy...

Right, I asked and found that I could use this subject again as long as I used it in a new thread.

How many times has Mankind proved itself true to it's claim as the only ones worthy of the galaxy? I can think of only one reason, but it is profound: Humans never give up. Others would say the same goes for the Orks, but Humans, unlike Orks, build civilizations and endure the unendurable. Amid the nightmares of the far future, Humans haven't lost themselves (unlike the Eldar and the Tau - the latter have been 'diluted' because of their cosmopolitanism IMO) but continue to exist and persevere despite all odds. No matter the plots of the Chaos Powers, or the prophecies of alien psykers, in the end Human choices can and do overturn those plots and prophecies, much to the anger of the gods.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

The moment humans started messing each other up with rocks and sharp sticks (not unlike feral orks with rokz and stikz) for the soul purpose of getting the entire half rotten carrion, even though you cant eat it all by yourself was the day humanity's rule of the galaxy was announced.
Also during the HH Humanity stood against it self and won (well depends which side people think is the more human one), when the eldar had to do that they didn't. Also even now during all the attacks IoM is under they keep charting and expanding, settling new worlds.
Also the Imperium of Man doesn't have to prove gak to any one, the wars of 40k aren't fought with reason and philosophy but with guns and hatred, which the Imperium haves in great quantity.

Natural selection filthy xenos!

...I'm confused. What's the point of the question? You're asserting that Humanity has proved itself 'worthy' to rule the galaxy. Whether the answer is yes or no, what does it matter? For that matter, if they were 'worthy' of ruling the galaxy but don't currently rule the galaxy, doesn't that prove that they aren't 'worthy', because they can't do it?

Hold on a second. Is the empire of man not already the single biggest empire in the galaxy?
By ruling the majority of the galaxy I think, that the humans have already proven that they are capable of concurring and ruling the galaxy.

The ironic thing here is, that once the humans come close to galaxy wide domination, they will probably direct their hatred against each other now that they don’t have a common foe to fight anymore (orks anyone?).

So the reason is that they don't give up? Do you have another reason? Maybe a reason that dosen't also belong to basically every other race?

If they did, the Imperium would have fallen long ago. Since it has not, Mankind is still going. Despite all the brutality, the Human spirit still lives on thanks to the Imperium.

The human spirit, which made progress and the colonisation of the galaxy possible, was smothered long ago. All that is left is an Imperium full of slaves who pray to an uncaring corpse and toil endlessly to support a system so utterly corrupt, that even the wealth of a million worlds is barely sufficient to keep it alive. Reduced to little more than carrioneaters which feast on the achievements of a former, far greater civilisation, humanity in 40k has fallen far from it's former heights. Under the yoke of the Imperium it is unlikely that mankind will ever rise to it's former glory.

Eh mankind is just the current "ruler of the Galaxy" others have done so before and others will do so after(assuming something is left anyhow)

As Iacton Qruze said, survival or obliteration are the standards by which the future will judge the Imperium. The future will always have a price. If that price is the death of countless members of our kind so that in the distant future when the Emperor is restored and Mankind ascends, so be it! I say, let us bear the burden, and claim our future by climbing over the corpses of our kind.

You have ruled this galaxy for ten thousand years, and have precious little to show for your efforts. Such a fact must be as depressing to bear as it is pathetic to behold.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

The Necrons are currently the Oldest race, and the most Technologically advanced and they have persevered for over a billion years, and conquered the entire galaxy at one point, a claim no other race can make. They defeated the most powerful Real-space entities, and enslaved them, as well as defeating The Progenitor of most life in the galaxy. They have survived, and grown despite all odds.

The Necrons never give up, and exist despite all the odds against them, at one point.

I know the Eldar splintered as an Empire, but that hasn't seemed to have stopped them from continuing on. The DE enslave and dominate others like tyrants, and the Eldar do all they can to preserve themselves since their race faced not only catastrophic damage, but extinction, if anyone has "proven" themselves enduring, it's the Eldar....

Agreed. They have been around a very long time and some how manged to survive an extinction level event on the galactic scale. They are not to be under estimated.

By being able to forge the currently mightiest empire that spans the stars and in the same time defend against multiple threats to destroy it, as well conquer in the same time, proves that Mankind is truly worth of ruling the galaxy. Will it continue? It all depends on how the story ends...

Now that Humans no longer have a connection to the Old Ones, then the Imperium and the Human race have earned the right to the stars simply because we obtained everything we have by our own power. The Eldar and the Orks got theirs from the Old Ones, and the Necrons from the C'tan. Unfortunately, this leaves the Tyranids and the Tau. Well, I suppose that the Tyranids can serve the same way as the Flood do in Halo - to test the dominant species to see whether or not they are worthy of the galaxy. As for the Tau, we'll just have to settle this the old-fashioned way.

Really? I didn't see the Allied Generals who ordered the fire-bombing of Tokyo and the deaths of over a million Japanese civilians go to trial. Or for that matter President Truman about the nuclear attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And let's not forget about how German/Japanese scientists were pardoned in exchange for data on nuclear/biological weapons development in WWII. Or how the US government covers up the inhumanities in Guantanamo Bay Prison or any crimes committed by US Servicemen abroad. I may be 19, but I've studied enough history to know that winners are never prosecuted. My people know that best - we're the only ones in the world to suffer nuclear attack, and the ones behind it were never punished, so don't go all righteous on us all. Even outside of war it's the same - if you have money and influence, you can get scotch-free from a criminal case.

That's a joke, right?

Orks rule the entire Galaxy. If they ever joined forces, the combined forces of every race besides the Tyranids couldn't stop them.

Humans own about >10% of the galaxy. If that.
