What do they do When their not raiding some far off planet? Sit on the sofa and watch TV? I know that they watch other people kill stuff in the wych arenas, but even an evil archon would get bored after awhile.

"Archon Yulliptidon sat apon a throne made of polished glass, which gleamed with magnificence in the rays of the dying suns, beautifully suspended above the the many razor sharp peaks that where Commorragh. The archon held within his hands a a delicate pyramid of sculpted crystal, from which emitted a faint glow, an echo of the soundless screams of pain belonging to countless tortured souls forever trapped within. The room in which the archon sat in was something like a throne room, but displayed apon the walls where helm of every color, but all the same in size and shape. Some bore eagles on their foreheads, and others still contained the decapitated heads of their previous owners. Two huge, beautifully carved iron double doors, engraved with intricate runes of pain and suffering, opened at the far end of the room, to reveal a tall, elegant dark eldar warrior, clad in armor made from bone and flesh. "lord Yulliptidon, you asked for my presence?" Said the arrival, " to what do I owe the pleasure?". The archon raised his elongated head, skin as pale as a full moon, eyes as vivid as a horrible nightmare. " I did not ask for you, Thrayon, I ordered your presence. Do not think to much for your self, for truly, you are not much past a feral that one would find on the streets. As for why I have ordered you to my palace, it is because their is a task that I wish you to preform. I wish you and you kabal to cleanse the imperial out fort of Sargosain Gastienagan." Thrayon was both aghast and interested at what the archon had just said. "Such a task would stretch my kabal to its limits, only a great reward would be enough to do a deed like this." Yulliptidon was outraged by the the proposal of a "great reward" by Thrayon, but did not let his anger show, hiding it with a cold smile that hid his evil intentions surprisingly well. The archon was was famous for never telling a lie in his life, but was very fond of veiled double speak, and this was no exception. "Do not worry, Thrayon, you shall receive what you deserve." Thrayon, happy with this outcome, left to carry out Yulliptidons task. Little did he know what was coming. Thrayon had done a thousand evil deeds, and what he deserved was a horrible death equal to to all those he had caused. Yulliptidons smiled. He was going to have fun."

So, they pretty much plan to kill stuff, go and kill it, then plan to kill more stuff?

I guess they have a bunch of slaves they captured and would do what they please with them. Really, if you ever saw the show Sparticus: Blood and Sand, that's what I think the Dark Eldar do when they aren't killing and slaughtering.

Well, when they do get the day off from raping and pillaging and actually get to enjoy themselves....
I could see Lady Malys listening to beethoven and doing her makeup for a night on the town. She goes out to dinner, on the way severing the heads of some random people.

At dinner she kills a human slave, and the proceeds to eat him sauteed in a butter reduction sauce with a good vintage of Chardonnay and linguini with capers and morels.

Afterward she goes out dancing, which is more like fighting to waltz music. After she flawlessly executes several dance "partners" she returns home.

Movie night. Microwaves some popcorn, pours herself a glass of wine and throws on some light comedy-Maybe the human centipede.

They are psychotic, monstrous hedonistic debauched nutcases...but they still have class.

Read Firedrake, by Nick Kyme. Part of it takes place in the Dark Eldar city of Commorragh. Also, in Fear the Alien (edited by Christian Dunn) there is a short story entitled Mistress Baeda's Gift by Braden Campbell about a Dark Eldar love story. In Let the Galaxy Burn, another short story compilation (this one co-edited by Marc Gascoigne) there is a short story about a rebellion in Commorragh.

The bottom line is that they do a lot of the same things that people do. The go to work, although their jobs tend to involve working for the organized-crime-like groups that proliferate their society. They struggle to get on top in social relationships, although they tend to be far more traitorous than humans. They have lovers, and "friendships" and hobbies, although the hobbies tend to involve torture, or drugs. They exist in a sort of sick, hedonistic society where the strong rule the weak and no one is around to stop them. In many ways, they're Space Drow, if that helps you at all. Of course, the pain and torment of their victims feeds them, in a way, and they need that as much as they need any other form of sustenance, so they have to seek that out. (Which is where the tormenting of slaves comes in...)

Pretty much, let your mind go to a very dark Garth-Niles-and-Clive-Barker-drop-bad-acid-after-reading-a-bunch-of-Salvatore-novels sort of place, and let your mind wander. Hope this helps. (I also hope you don't fall asleep with your mind still in that place...)

...Or you could just read Path of the Renegade by Andy Chambers, which is 100% about Dark Eldar and what goes on in Commorragh. It was written after their new codex so it's completely in sync with their new fluff.

P.S. And I recommend the book. It was an entertaining read.

For the society I would watch I, Claudius, Spartacus (the new serie) and Rome and chop away the worst aspects of those societies as the answer. It's only my theory but it seems to be supported by fluff.

Scheming, plotting and such also take up much time as do the desperate scrounge for souls for the low-downs as they ain't powerful enough to get all the souls they need to sustain themselves.

Also the arena and likely races between jet-bikes should be a major filler for the masses of the spare-time.

He beat me to it.

Think of a more violent version of real housewives of X and instead of verbal arguments, decapitations. Mix in some late 14th century European politics with plenty of bloodshed.

You don't wanna know what's in that tea. Or what he's having with it.

On-topic, Dark Eldar society is reminiscent of Renaissance Italy, with touches of Sodom and Gomorrah, and a bit of hell for good measure.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Sex, bondage, drugs, treachery, watching gladitorial combat, more sex and bondage, cosplay, more treachery, and yet more sex and bondage.

And keeping their fish supplies safe from Slaanesh. There was a horrendous typo in the fall of the Eldar. It was supposed to say that Slaanesh hungers for their SOLES, not their souls. Slaanesh isn't a spirit devouring devil, he just likes seafood.

Ultimately they are nihilists as they will die out, have no souls and exist only to cause pain
