This is in response to to the "Favorite Game Endings" topic.
Refering to games you ENJOYED OR LIKED (neutral is okay) What games can you think of that simply failed to deliever, especially compared to the rest of the game.
Lets also ignore Mass Effect 3 because everyone would mention it.
For me, Republic Commando is the first one to come to mind. Sev was easily my favorite character and there was no reason the people couldnt wait 2 more mins for me to make the journey back to him to see what happened.

Every linear game ever. It always seems like they are ending right when I am getting to like the characters. At least in non linear games, I can get sick of the characters and wish them a horrible death before they end.

Worst ending was Command and Conquer 4. What the heck, no conclusive ending, just Kane and the whole of NOD disappearing.

Don't crush my dreams.
I would say RAGE. If I have to read a book and google the game's lore just to figure out what the hell happened, it's not a good ending.

The reason you don't but any new AC games is because you weren't paying attention enough to understand what was going on?
The final cutscene was explained by what the people were saying, what happened at the very end wasn't, but that's what's known as a cliffhanger, theyre fairly common

Such a useless ending that explained and resolved nothing.
The so called "boss fight" leading up to it was lame too.

Which is what I was expecting, or maybe a fancy artifact weapon or something.
On my newest char I waited till level 60 to even start bleak falls barrow because dragons are stupid (till you get dragonrend) and the main quest is boring for a while

You get a shout that raises dead heroes to fight for you. That's your reward. And a dragon priest's mask.

Phew, this is a difficult one - I've probably wiped a lot of bad endings from my mind because they were totally forgettable or just so bad that I did not want to remember them. Then again, since this thread is about games I enjoyed, this narrows it down a bit.
One example that comes to mind is Dragon Age 2. Not due to the "lack of closure" sometimes cited by others who too disliked it, but because it felt so incredibly forced. I realizie that the BW writers felt compelled to deliver an ending that "fits in" with how the storyline goes on Asunder and DA3, but in my personal opinion it would have been better to just have possible endings and a single official one, rather than trying to come up with a one-size-fits-all. They probably did it so that people will see it as "their" ending and not have a disconnect between their personal game and the setting's canon, but in the end this came with the sacrifice of a certain amount of plausibility. I say "a certain amount" because of course anything can be explained with some far-fetched excuse, but some options just seem way less reasonable than others. I'm sure a lot of pro-templar players were just as irritated by Meredith choosing to attack a loyal ally as pro-mage players were irritated by the First Enchanter turning himself into an Abomination when it's not necessary because their side was (thanks to the player) winning anyways.
Would've been better to just have a single last boss fight for everyone. As a pro-mage player you fight the Knight-Commander, as a pro-templar player you fight Orsino. Might have also increased replayability value ... somewhat. The way DA2 ended certainly reinforces the point that the central issue of the conflict isn't as simple as a black vs white and that everyone has a point, but it shouldn't have been necessary to create such a weird ending when the players should already know this by then. Those who don't probably have such a huge faction bias that they won't be convinced by the ending either.

Regardless of how often the haters like to claim otherwise, there actually are people who liked it.

I remember first playing Neverwinter Nights 2 when it came out.
That was a real F you ending. - Rocks fall, everybody dies.
At least KOTOR2 was a bit better than that....

Dragon Age 2. The big reveal was that nothing you did in the game mattered at all. Don't consider this a spoiler; it's a warning.

I'm going to be different here...maybe...and say, Red Dead Redemption.
Marsden knows and says the whole time, that a man can't escape justice in the end and all the sort of talk, and then he doesn't, I was like, okay, I accept dying in the end, that's actually a really brave ending. Then you get to play your son, who goes and ruins in own life for revenge. It's the last thing that Marsden would have wanted and yet, that's what you create. I can see how it made sense, but it just felt like it was spitting in my face!
