It hasn't been mentioned yet so I will.

Yesterday, a sad but happy day came. Red vs Blue, the acclaimed series by Rooster Teeth, has come to an end. The story never made much sense of course but I always appeciated the comedy, even when the series switched to a more action oriented focus. The references in Season 10's 22nd episode alone are wonderful to watch.

And for those who wondered why the video was so long and waited till after the credits (and those who didn't)

I thought that series ended years ago.

I can see it, at least two to three of it.
Not like they can defend against it though, since you couldn't really call it trademarked.

THey've seemingly ended it several times but the end of season 10 appears to be the real end of the series.

It's got about 3 arcs so when one ends it does seem like the entire thing ends
The new series looks awesome but i hope it's got the same sense of humour that RvB had...

I'm stoked for this new project. Something completely original? Yes please. I'd love to see what Rooster Teeth can do when not bound to an existing engine or IP.

The music is by Geoff, the same guy who wrote the theme for RvB. Exactly who the singer is though is unknown.

I confess I immediately tried to work out a rough functioning design for the Scythe-gun. You'd need some serious upper body strength and an intense counter weight but it's do able. I'd change it to a semi-automatic to take pressure off the action which would be severe she seems to use the bolt as a grip. Leave the grip in and give the grip an actual trigger so the weapon doesn't fire every time she works the action.

I love gunsmithing... now to decide if I actually want to do a build on this...

If you watch, she wants it to fire. She uses the gun bucking to power her swings, giving them more force.

What it looks like to me, though I've had a good 7 mountain dews in the past three hours, so bleh.

Oh no, it's definitely on purpose and she wants it to fire when it's going off, but it's a really inefficient and slightly dangerous way to fire a weapon, so for a real world build it changes a little.

So R is definately based upon Red Riding Hood (Just look at the similarities, Werewolfs/red hood), W is more than likely Snow White, any ideas who B and Y are?

Alice could probably be one of them, they probably don't have to go by name.

If you listen to the song it tells you a bit about the characters who are referred to as Red, White, Black, and Yellow.

For those with more of a life than me:

Red like roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest.

White is cold an always yearning, burdened with a royal test (Snow White might be a good guess for this, but they might no necessarily base all the characters off fables).

Black the beast descends from shadows.

Yellow beauty <???> gold.

I think that as release gets closer they'll release trailers for the other three characters. Notice in the panel scene you see four outlines and then Red fills up with her portrait. I figure they'll go down the list.

Sounds like "burned gold" or "turned gold".

Yeah I can't tell at all. The singer goes long in those last two words.

It could reference Cinderella if it goes that way.

You should check out the last 3-4 seasons at least. The fight sequences alone are quite impressive (as the RWBY trailer shows, Rooster Teeth can do an over the top action sequence very well). Probably the greatest moment of the later seasons of Red vs Blue is the episode that amounts to nothing more than 11 minutes of Tex beating the gak out of EVERYONE. With her fists.

There's also just some plain well done CGI work later in the series. Rooster Teeth got access to the Halo 3 dev tools in season 6 or 7 and went to town with them.

It hasn't actually ended...there will be another season, but it won't be for a while. Season 10 better not be the last; there's still some lose ends they have to clean up (like, I dunno...the Meta?)

I have some mixed feeling about the new series. On one hand, it looks silly I don't like the quasi anime art style and the oversized gun-scythe is just odd. On the other hand, I like the sort of gothic style of the Red character. She reminds me of another female protagonist who has a similar style. I also like the brutal and visceral combat as well, and the general dark and ott feel of the setting.

There hasn't been an official announcement. I guess that given the tone of the 22nd episode and its the first season where they actually have end credits. Also, they have with this season wrapped up the last loose end. Meta was destroyed at the end of season 8. The Director was the only loose end left. Church/Tex's pasts have also been resolved.

Her design is very similar to Esther from Trinity Blood except with black instead of white (not to mention the big red scythe). She has a sort of nunish appearance and there are several popular characters with the same.

My main issue with the gun is the sheer amount of ammo it seems to hold, you had dozens of empty shells falling, a LOT of shots, and that magazine looks like it'd hold.. 6-10 shells....

Still, looks great - need to catch up on my RvB.

Eh, I'm cool with that. That just requires a bit of suspension of disbelief.
Then again, I do like Helsing and Army of Darkness, which has a similar problem with realistic ammo.

A rifle into a Scythe, even a rifle built into a springloaded telescoping scythe, is doable (if unwieldy).
But a duffel bags worth of shots out of a small magazine? That's nuts!

Seems fun enough, and the stylization is interesting.

Wait, realism?

A girl is hunting werewolves with a scythe-rifle. There is realism, and then there is awesome. You only bring realism in when it increases the awesome.

Frankly, this is kind of what Darksiders 2 should have been more like, not that Darksiders 2 was realistic to begin with... but at least it could have been more interesting than "Death is this gangly looking guy who's really just a sort of middle manager for some group called the lords of death"

Ok, so if we look at it, RvB was popular, Rooster Teeth is popular, and Anime is popular. rwby is going to be awesome and popular.

So what kind of video game do you guys want them to release based upon it? There are really only three options, I think; Metroidvania style sidescroller, fighting game, or Dynasty Warriors a-like. What route do you guys think they would do?
