Either metroidvania style or devil-may-cry style.

Or Darksiders style or Bloodrayne style. Basically anything that involves vicious hand to hand combat with gratuitous levels of dismemberment will do.

Well technically, Darksiders/Bloodrayne/Devilmaycry are the same genre, just with slightly different emphases.

Thinking more on it, I would think a 2d sidescroller in metroidvania style would suit this better though, because you could make it awesome without a AAA budget.

Extreme hack and slash is a genre that could really use a 2D side scroller imo.

That is true, they are all variants of tpp hack-and-slash.
If Roosterteeth are going to make it, then I agree that a 2d Sidescroller (like double-dragon or something) would be the most suitable.

I'd prefer something less like that and more like Metroid/Castlevania, myself. Or possibly Ninja Gaiden. Double Dragon style 2d beat'em'ups are too slow to suit this particular animation style.

Honestly, I think a 4 player Castlevania: Harmony of Despair alike would be best. Maybe with less grinding and more fast paced action though.

Not sure if any of you have been keeping up with this, if you haven't ,here are the other two trailers released so far.

Red and White were really well done.
Black while reasonably well made an animated, wasn't as good a 'teaser'.
Still, looking forward to seeing the actual series and what it's about.

The voice acting in Black was so campy XD. You can tell as Japanese guy is doing the writing, that he probably plays a lot of Devil May Cry, and that he's a huge fan of Katanagatari. I hope they improve that dialogue.

I actually liked Black's Voice, but didn't like the dude.

It just felt stale to me. But then it's not like they were holding a conversation or anything.

I was in love when she said "Oh don't be so dramatic.."

It kinda felt like Monty went and voiced the guy himself. Plus the clothes are kinda like the stuff he wears anyway.

The trailer is quite different than the other two. Plus the animation is still a bit meh at some parts.

I'm waiting for RvB Season 11.

Contrary to what I thought at the end of Season 10 they do indeed seem to be doing more RvB, but RWBY is occupying a lot of the news right now.

It is Burnie allways said that they will keep on doing RvB untill everyone is sick of it and then make a last season to end it.

So it seems there will be a few more seasons.

I've actually played against Burnie in the Halo Reach Beta just by accident in random matchmaking.

I still like Red the most out of the various intro movies, but I like how they're progressing to more and more complex movies and interactions between characters.

This looks like its gonna be great, cant wait

Black did fine, The guy just needs some work.

Red and White were great, I didn't like Black's trailer as much, but I enjoyed her voice acting and design. Kinda wish her weapon was a bit more unique. Seemed like a combo of Red's and Krato's weapon from God of War. Good over all, I am greatly looking forward to RWBY.

That's what it was supposed to be like I believe. Given the douchebag she was partnered with, I'm assuming it's meant to be a bit of a "Ninja and Samurai" pairing.

The weapons certainly illustrate the ninja/samurai pairing. Katana being the signature weapon of samurai, and Kusrai, the humble common farm implement completed with a simple length of chain the more preferred tool of sneaky types who aren't trying to stand out. Interesting that it seemed like they actually had a different mission at the end of the clip, even if their initial purpose seemed unified.

Traditionally, the idea was to use the chain to disable an opponent's weapon (swinging it to wrap it around a spear or sword for example) and then rush in to kill the now relatively defenseless opponent with the sickle.

I'm thinking the guns in the weapons are just standard in RWBY, given that three of the four revealed characters have them. Wonder what Yellow will use.

The ones that don't have guns have magic. Which is just fine for me. Gotta have that kind of flash in a Monty Oum series.

I don't think she will be right off the bat; RvB started out with Caricatures who then became actual characters, after all.

When Red first pulls her weapon I wanted it to turn into a giant chainsword. Then it turned into a Scythe. I was so much more happy

I have designs on how to make that work, not necessarily the folding but but a scythe rifle that you can fight with. The key to copying RWBYs design is a strong, locking bolt with an extended grip. The weird thing is the rifle switches between bolt and semi automatic modes, not counting the super move of course. Shell size looks like a .50 BMG or any other large caliber rifle. Fed from a magazine... I think I did this in this very thread earlier...

I'd probably base it on a Rem 700 action with extended handle and reinforced receiver. In 30-06 so humans could fire it relatively comfortably, then size the scythe so it basically works as a super tall monopod when standing... I just can't figure out how to work a comfortable rear grip and trigger into the system yet.

Sigh, ah to have my manufacturer's license and customers as insane as I am.
