A little plain and I think the handle and the hose look a little weird. Perhaps some fire coming out of out it, or something oily dripping out would do it good.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

On the other hand, I think it looks like excellent work.

It looks like he is wearing camo for a snowy environment - the dirtying of the legs is quite convincing.

If the handle and the hose look a little wierd, I would ascribe that "problem" to the miniature - and it's not a problem, because the werfer (thrower, as in "flammenwerfer" aka flame-thrower) is quite similar to the German's WW2 model (Japanese version is also similar).

Overall, IMO an excellent scheme well-executed.

The base not tying in to the environment for which the model is dressed is, I think, an affectation based on how other (official) Dust miniatures are presented - that is my only criticism, but it is one of style and not execution. The rust effects are - like everything else - convincing.

I don't see any issues with plainness - there are freehand markings, great weathering on the base (is that paint, pigments, or both? I can't be sure of the rust, but the sheen makes me think it has graphite over the top), clothes, and nozzle, a smooth shading gradient on the tank, and plenty of tonal variety in the uniform (love that dirty white, by the way). Both the sculpt and the painting trend strongly enough toward realism that, unless subtle and flawlessly executed, I imagine additions like a gout of flame - even a pilot light - or gobs of oil would just seem hokey and clutter the model. To me, at least, they make more sense on a 40k model than they do on something from Dust or Infinity - different general aesthetics and such.

As I understand uniform suposed to be plain and simple (at least not on parade). Also Dust is not "grim&dark" so I used WW2 references like
I used pigments on model and base. I understand that it's winter uniform but it's table top game and not all tables are "winter" most of them have grass or sand or anything but snow. So I created base with that in mind. I think this base will fit better to different tables not creating "snow island" effect on green gras

Very nice. These figs really lend themselves to simple schemes, and realism is far and away a better bet IMO.

I've also started painting my Dust stuff recently and after painting one fig very exaggerated and cartooney, I decided against it for the rest of the army. It just didn't seem to fit.

Again. this is really fantastic. Cant wait to see more!
