I love how you added the weathering affect to these very green models without getting rid of that awesome green color, the plasma cannon is great. Nice work! Id love to see more.

Hey Wolfmerc, The weathering is actually a funny one, It actually dulls the colour down Believe me you wouldnt want to see these guys when they start out. Think 80's Illuminous Slimer from ghost busters. Its a scary sight.
Alot of weathering is just painted on. I'm a big fan of the Vallejo paints although ive noticed that Model colour rubs off, so just be aware of that. If your gaming with your models I'd suggest a matt spray varnish to avoid any tragedy's.
Smoke by Vallejo is a great colour. My rust is a bit of an elloborate concoction but you could probably get away with vomit brown. Aww where are those old paints when you need them :(

As an off Shoot i've been working on these:

Marines look nice really like how your green turned out. But the obsidian with the blue highlights on the dark eldars looks great, Two really nice jobs.

Your OSL on the Plasma Cannon is awful. Why didn't you just paint the whole model blue to save you some trouble of having to put green highlights on it. OSL does not mean all other lighting vanishes. There is no reason why there should be any blue on the cable running to the gun and hardly any on his left shoulder pad.

Less is more in this case.

Based on the three images you have on this site, I would have to agree with that sentiment. His/her work is indeed much better than yours.

if you don't like the OSL you don't have to be a douche noodle about how you state it.

Wow, thanks for insulting my friend's paint job. He didn't know where else to upload his work so and I offered to show dakkadakka, which i also told him about. I'm also going to tell him that it was a bad idea. Assuming is always the best way to create your information. :-)

You do know the PC is angled, right? Also, why would there not be light on the pad..? The plasmacoil goes on the other side, too.

@OP: Lovely work! I wish I could paint my models as well as you can!

I think the OSL is great, and probably very realistic, if anything there should be more, all that plasma energy would pretty much light up a small building!

Don't listen to the heretics, it's a great job that you have obviously spent a heap of time on and should be damn proud of!

Love the green on these, SoM green is always something to behold and the battle damage is great!

While I don't agree that the "OSL is Awful" I do think it is just slightly exaggerated. the hard edges of the weapon around the plasma coil would produce "Shadows" more so they would "Stop" the light and cause it to not travel as far out onto the barrel, or down onto the cabling, The actual effect itself is outstanding, it definitely gives the impression that it is glowing and that's the goal!

My only comment on it bleeding over to his left shoulder and helmet, is that I generally paint my units to look like they are fighting outside during the day, and something would have to have an insane glow to "bleed" that much in daylight. but I also don't mind the style presented here and it can look incredible, just not my style.

There's my 2 cents for what it's worth... and Dandruff... come on dude... have some respect.

I would have liked to see some bionic limbs on those Sons of Medusa.

Where are all the bionic limbs?!

also they should consider firing all of their chapter serfs, their upkeep is pitiful.

As a matter of fact, those are the best I've painted. But, unlike you, i don't insult painters with much better skill than me. How I would have said it was, "while I think the OSL is a bit overboard it is painted well.".

Now of those are your "friends" paintings them he should be posting them. While they are done pretty good, they come no where as close to the skill of the OP.

Thanks guys, It seriously means alot to me that there are folks out there who can either appreciate my models or give me constrictive criticism sensibly. and too you I thankyou for being honest.

Criticism is good, It makes us strive to be better painters. But I feel constructive is the way to go.
I trained in Art school, so I built up a thick skin and could never understand why some folk felt the need to target others without giving them "options". If something is sub optimal, how can you improve it? what should you consider? what techniques can you suggest for me or someone else to employ? a word such as 'awful' I'm afraid gives me nothing to go off, no different than using the word 'nice'

Everyone is entitled to opinion, whether its your cup of tea or not. I guess in my book Ive never gone round throwing stones if I live in a glass house but hey were all sorts, all shapes and it takes all personalities.

Thankyou to those who have replied and given me OPTIONS

On another note 6^ You raise a good point
Where are all the bionic limbs?!

Ive tried to use some of the bionic heads but the plan with this unit was to just get my colors down. This unit will actually be split with my 2nd and I'll distribute my bionic fellas between the two. I'm thinking of going with a master of the forge for my special character.

Which leads me on, I'll be honest these are my first forays with 40K hopefully you fellas can give this girl a hand. I desperately need to make a list. Currently Ive got a unit of termies in addition to these (armed with shields) and Ive got a land raider under my desk with 1 attack bike. Thats all thats currently in my collection since I chose things that look cool but in game terms are these workable or is the tank and bike a bit crap? I was watching beast of war and they were saying that dreads and tanks weren't as good as the previous addition. Also what is the pts value of a typical game? I'm coming from the fantasy side of things so I'd really appreciate any tips you can give me.

Thanks for your time!

Land raiders are always a good choice, especially since they can hold a 5 man terminator squad. The attack bike, I'm not to sure about. I know they can be pretty good if you build a bike army, but I think that's pretty much relegated to dark angels, though a space marine player could answer that better.
