Thanks Debbin, you made my day since I want to paint the land raider I'm glad it won't be wasted time and effort.
Did you ever see the Calgar Land Raider in the codex? I'd like to do something like that but do you think it will look a little OT? Or can you think of a workaround?

Can't give any advice there as I've really only painted orks, and I don't paint them all that well.

Which leads me on, I'll be honest these are my first forays with 40K hopefully you fellas can give this girl a hand. I desperately need to make a list. Currently Ive got a unit of termies in addition to these (armed with shields) and Ive got a land raider under my desk with 1 attack bike. Thats all thats currently in my collection since I chose things that look cool but in game terms are these workable or is the tank and bike a bit crap? I was watching beast of war and they were saying that dreads and tanks weren't as good as the previous addition. Also what is the pts value of a typical game? I'm coming from the fantasy side of things so I'd really appreciate any tips you can give me.

Like Debbin said, LR + Termies= win. It's always nice to have a LR in your army. One attack bike on it's own is pretty meh, you'd need a squad of them, and even then, IMHO, there are better ways to spend points. I'm curious why you'd go with a Master of the Forge for HQ, tho. There are much better options, IMO. I would go with Sicarius as a counts as, or really, any of the unique characters. Might as well make your commander a true badass. Simply paint them green, change the name, and state that they are a "counts as Sicarius, Lysander, etc." A squad of Devastators is always a good thing, as well. Rhinos for tactical squads are cheap, and make good cover when they get destroyed (and they will, lol).

As far as points, I'd say maybe 1,200 is pretty typical? I don't know since I haven't played standard missions for a long time. It's Apoc or nothing for me, so I'm usually playing 3,000 - 5,000 pt games. I would say, tho, that it's better to have extra units and not need them, than to need more points and not have them. I'd shoot for 1,500 points to start with, which really isn't all that many models for SMs.

The most common points value in tournaments is 1750/1850 to give you something to aim for.

I'm not a marine player so cant offer much advice on them but the LR is cool but make sure you have something of ample size/threat on the table at the same time other wise kiss it good by first turn.

I can see fluff wise where your coming from with the MotF, If you like the model thats the best reason to use it in my opinion.

Do we get to see any of the fantasy minis you've painted?

Hey Sally just to let you know I think your work on these marines was outstanding im not sure if this was your first time doing OSL but it is also my first go dabbling in it and I have to say it does look effective I still think the light should maybe not have fallen onto the ammo chain underneath but the shoulder pad....yeah I can see that kinda happening. But still the overall painting was outstanding. In terms of a normal points get together game for one evening your looking at around 1500-2000 pts. Landraiders are awesome for a 5 man termy squad especially a close combat unit. Bikes on the other hand I feel they are just too squishy :(.

Hope I helped you out a little. Keep up the great work .

Sounds like the Land raider is the way to go then guys much fun to be had there. Thanks for the feedback, I think its probably best I drop the bike then. Its no problem since I havent started painting it.

@Ultra cheers fella, cleared a few questions I had up there. I'm thinking MOTF simply from a fluff aspect since I've learned that Son's are good pals to the Iron Hands, looks like I'll be rooting in the bits box for bionic limbs.

@Giraffe - Good point about threat, what should I balance it out with in your opinion? your right I don't want to see it go under in turn 1. Believe me when I play fantasy I have an inept aptitude for rolling 1's when I could do without them lol

Thanks Shar & ChilledMonkey. Your comments are well received I think I'll start off with the 1500pts I'll drum up a list and if you guys wouldn't mind looking the list over I'd be welcome for some tweaks
