Hi I have been playing Warhammer 40k for a while and noticed all the price increases. Since the last few years the prices have sky rocketed past any reasonable measure. I would like to find out what people think of the gw price increase and how it affects their gaming.
I would also like to point out that depending on where you buy the products you get an additional fee. for example 5 death company boxes it costs 192 dollars around Canada before taxes. while it costs 138 dollars Canadian if you go to the united kingdoms. I would think that gw would at least treat their customers with a bit of respect instead of this blatant racism. I could understand a small delivery fee but a cost difference of 54$ on top of price increases is Insane! OUr economy isn't so terrible that GW needs our support or that its business will go out without these price increases, it seems more like just pure greed. If you have any comments on this topic or what we the consumers can do to tell GW how pissed we are please leave a message. I also encourage you to Wright Gw a letter representing how unhappy the Gaming community is about these price increases.
Thanks for your time.

GW's prices are due to racism?
I know people have posted things like GW staff assaulting people, but this, this takes the cake.

I used racism because my friend Alex once went to Britain on a trip and when he was their they wouldn't sell him any models 3 years ago. So sorry if it is a bit strong use of language but i don't have a different descriptive word to use. (so yes you can call it bad business)

well Canada is more of a mix between races, but i mean is that the UK gets special deals while the rest are forced to pay much more, like Australia, they pay 114 Canadian for a land raider while the united kingdom's pay 60 dollars Canadian for a land raider. That's almost double.

Please....
"Canadian" is no more a "race" than "American", "British" or "Mexican". Thus it's not by definiton "racism".
Yet more proof that this little Marxist construct of a word has been over-used and mis-used to the point that it has no real meaning in today's world aside from "racist=someone I disagree with".

Yes, and that's why i am putting all the prices into Canadian dollar to show the difference. The main thing would be a fee for transporting the goods or the cost to ship an item out of the country so that the government gains money off of it, but almost double. That seems a little to high of a cost difference.

The main problem with buying stuff in canada is your tarriffs that are placed on goods coming into the country. Ergo since their is no GW factory in Canada it costs more to ship stuff there.

So your saying (not including Gw price increases) That it is double because of tarrifs and shipping? shipping may cost around 10% and the duties cost no more than 8%. That only justifies rounded up about a 20% increase not a 100% increases

Yep I do international shipping and receiving for a living. Canada's a lot worse than that on large shipments like GW would do. Also using the number you provided it is 39% not 100%. Math is fundamental so we are now down to 54 dollars Canadian as your issue (192(Canadian price)-138(British price)=54 Canadian dollars guess what you have a Canadian infrastructure for the company to support in addition to the English hence why it is cheaper in England.)
Math and Common Sense are fundamental.

This is why. GW is punishing you for liberalism.
Really though, I would imagine increased business costs in your country might be to blame, along with the supply and demand issue.

GW's prices have kept pace with inflation in general, and GW's varying prices by-country are a result of problems in their distribution system.
/thread.
Plus, if you've genuinely drunken your kool-aide, the best thing you can do is to profit by it. If prices are really that bad in your country, then start a small business importing things from countries where prices are lower and selling them in your own country at a profit. If you really think that GW's prices are going up so fast, then buy a bunch of box sets now, and then sit on them and sell them in a couple of years for a profit.
Of course, neither of those will actually work, because you're wrong, but if you're that passionate about it, then put your money where your mouth is.

I agree that the prices are getting a little ridiculous, but I have serious doubts that it has anything to do with racism. The gentleman who mentioned the fact that Canada has no factory hit it right on the nose. Importing is always more expensive.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."
"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

But ya see, they can get away with it. GW, at the moment, doesn't really have any other serious competition with 40k. I mean, in the grand scheme of things 40k is MASSIVE for the war-gaming community. The way their stuff is run, you kinda have to pay their prices or your out of luck. You can make conversions with third parties but sometimes it can be just as expense or hard to get.
However, the prices are kinda blatantly overpriced. Like, I understand the amount that goes into making sets of miniatures but do 10 plastic Space Marines (who are some of the less detailed models they make since not a whole lot goes into their armor and things, and the sprue lacks a lot of special weapons and stuff) REALLY need to cost $40? My older brother remembers when mini's cost $15 for a box of 10 or 15-20 if you got lucky with a company. They also weren't too badly detailed back then either
