Didn't see this posted yet so I thought I'd share for the benefit of those who don't read the GW Blog

Tonight from 7pm GMT the Games Workshop website will be offline for essential maintenance. A team of Techpriest Enginseers and their Servitors will be working through the night to ensure that it is back up and running by 6.30am tomorrow morning. Should you wish to place any webstore orders, please ensure that your transaction is completed well before 7pm - you wouldn't want your Citadel miniatures getting lost in the Warp. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter pages for further updates and information.

It is all a part of tzeentch's plan.

Or, alternatively, this could just be plain ol' routine maintenance, and somebody gets to be chicken little.

I know it is fashionable to hate on GW, but thinking every single move they make is linked to a price increase is just silly.

Maybe it's all to do with 'the big things going on at GW at the moment'? Maybe something good's happening?

Or it is a web server and needs routine maintenance?

I suspect it's just maintenance, like updating their ordering system and such. The last time they did a major "over haul", they talked about it for weeks, didn't they?

Yeah but nothing gets talked about for weeks before hand by GW anymore. I'm hoping that maybe they've been working on a load of cool new articles to put up, a return of Conversion Corner, some new gaming articles, maybe even the forums they had back in the day.
But, like you say, chances are it's maintenance.

Well, they're clearly migrating to a new FineSite, and that approach involves delivering the finest HTML anywhere in the world. Indeed, the HTML tags will be so detailed you can tell just by looking at them what properties they change on the page. Of course, such an extensive overhaul of their infrastructure will naturally entail a modest price increase, as will their later introduction of the FineSite Browser Cleanup kit which will help with any malformed tags the server sends out....

Tongue-in-check aside this is probably just a boring, run-of-the-mill maintenance to apply some major patch or other.

Have we become so fixated on GW that website maintenance is "news" now?

I was just spreading word that the site would be down so follow their advice to get orders in earlier than 7 or risk losing the order.

It's fine, but crazy price speculation is rather peculiar.

Well, they were trying to move the website to a new server.

And apparently have messed it up. (Big surprise)

"Well, folks, the website is still down for maintenance. Clearly some of you haven't been chanting the litanies loudly enough and it turns out our Servitors do now need to use the multi-melta. We'll keep you updated when we're back online..."

The thread topic says the 16th Feb but the post by GW was downtime for yesterday, am I missing something. It's still down like skinnereal says.

Maybe they are adding all the decent fluff articles back and adding the 40k roster sheets etc again. Ah, one can dream, one can dream ...

I've gone to check for their main Facebook page and cannot find it in my like pages, cannot search for it and any posts that linked to it are gone. GW have either deleted it or I've gone mad and it never existed

They did indeed do a runner.

Seems as though they couldn't handle the influx of negative feedback, so rather than customers see it, they removed the means for their paying customers to voice their concern publicly.

Emu's head + sand moment for GW really.

Perhaps to protect their ip they are in the process of changing their name to Space Marine, and must pull down the web page to do it.

Maybe now everyone will take them seriously.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.
