hello there dakka!

so, i had thread here a few months back. Dark Angels. Got bored. So i decided to start a new army, something that i can make personal and something that isn't power armour. ORKS!!

I'll start off with the basics, and then gradually get into some mega conversions.

Before i digress, pictures to keep you all happy. Maybe. lol

BOYZ

NOBZ - kitbashed - ish

BIG SHOOTA BOYZ - actually love these kits

and my first warbuggy conversion (2 more to come!)

and then the driver

I'm not a 100% happy with the warbuggy, it still needs work. i need to buy some guitar wire, thicker sheets of plain plasticard and plasticard rod for rivets etc. Plus some of the lines are too straight. I'm happy with it as a good first try though..

Thanks for the replies!

Seems i have some competition Squidbot.... lol

just a small update today

warbuggy chassis number two

took the blower off the top of the engine so it makes it a little bit more individual. i'm probably going to make my own rocker cover out of plasticard or something.

the idea for this one is that it's going to be some sort of 2 seater, with the passenger being the gunner and the driver i want to model shifting gear - to add a bit more character to the whole thing. might make it into a weird orky DeLorean lol

Work/Fitness training has caught me up and i've taken ages to do anything! here's a brief update, more piccies to follow later on tonight.

The first warbuggy, rivet-ed and panel-ed up.

the beginnings of the second one, complete with the start of the grot gunner

My nob warbiker painboy, still deciding on the right head..

... and the start of the 'Doc's Ambu-bike'...

...and of course his grot orderly, complete with his own grot 'urty syringe

Looking good, Roth. I really like what your'e doing with the painboy biker! Spellcrow has a nice dok head http://www.spellcrow.com/ork-doctor-conversion-set-p-120.html
I should point out, I've never bought from them, so I have no idea of the quality, but the models look nice.

Cheers mate, i have more photos to come with what i did last night. Just trying to get up off my bed and take the photo's lol.

I Actually love that head Squidbot, and the banner is so much better than the normal painboy one, deffo buying it now....

Splendido! Be sure to post some unpainted pictures of it when it arrives, if you could? I'm leaning toward a desert themed group of orks, and they have some desert ork heads, so I'm keen to see the quality.

And it's not competition, it's just one big WAAAGH!!

It's been purchased, so i'll let you know whether it's pants or not!

so this is last nights work, inspired by watching Lost Boys, such an amazing soundtrack!... but yeah before i go on about 80's films..

the basic shape of the front of the 2nd buggy is done, just need to continue finishing the back and the cockpit to house the driver

the driver. minus gearstick

the 97% finished Ambu-bike. with spare orky bits and syringes. Plus a ambulance light on the top lol. i say 97% because i might do something else to it, not sure yet though.

enjoy!

OHHHHHHHHHHHH, niceeeeeeeeeee.
I love it when ork players scratch build their army. The originality, the uniqueness, the lol-factor. Its better this way, how an ork army should be.
P.S. Try taking ur pics in front of a white background like paper or something, makes the pics a lot cooler and cleaner. Then you can do close-ups, epic poses and what nots. Trust me a man knows his wares.

Thanks monkeytroll, the buggies and the ambu-bike need a lot more work, i keep spotting things that i think i have missed and have to go back lol!

Thanks for the kind words Novelist, i don't think i'll go into complete scratch building... yet not until i'm confident enough. just small -ish conversions for now, till iknow what im doing and am not such a newb!

i will try that next time, i do need a piece of white card that'll stay upright as paper just collapses and i go mad trying to make it stay upright!

a small update, sort of need some advice.

did a front wheel cover for the painboy bike to make it a bit more individual, but i think the plasticard im using is too thick, do you guys agree or think it doesn't look too clunky?

cheers

Orkses don't have any issues with clunky....

Once there's some rivets on there it'll be good to go....

thats a fair point monkeytroll, i think some teeth might help to break up the edges. tomorrow i'll get some thinner plasticard for that and post up some progress. hopefully my painboy head will arrive too!

a small update, no ambu bike - though :( still waiting to see if the head i ordered from afar arrives!

but on a good note, i tried salt dipping for some mad, albeit different poses for my slugga and choppa boys! (needed to find a use for all those spare bits!)

group shot

close ups

as you can see, some worked out better than others, not too bad though, just a bit of gs re shaping and they'll be fine. some look like they are doing a diving headbutt, but i like it lol.

enjoy!

Evenin' Dakka

Finally the spellcrow stuff came!

but they sent me a random torso and head on top of what i ordered not that i'm complaining though..

As you can see the casts are actually very good, the flash is wafer thin, almost non existent and the detail is excellent. I've always been a bit funny with aftermarket warhammer bits, but this really has converted me. Verdict - Spellcrow = easily a new favourite of mine.

Oh yeah, solved the clunky weirdness problem of the ambu - bike. I'm 99.9% satisifed with it, and i'm certain i need to do nothing else to improve it (except paint of course).

Finished Bike

The painboy however, feels like theres something missing, i'm not sure what yet, but something is lacking from the model..

Cheers!

haha you've dropped an absolute cracker there!

Yeah the poses aren't bad for my first go at salt dipping, just need to use more salt next time. That way the models won't get too close the the bottom of the saucepan again!

its been a while dakka!

i've had to move recently, which is the reason why i havent posted in a week or so (maybe more)

went a bit mad and bought some forge world bits, so in regards to hobby-ing i'm all over the place with mini projects!

actually got round to trying to finish a warbuggy!! - still needs a few more bits here and there! lol

Dakkajet rockets are an invaluable resource for any project that needs rokkits!

had to buy the warboss on bike and nob bikers, they're just too good!

and his ridiculously big bike

couldn't be bothered to order another grot turret for my battlewagon, so i just made my own. again, needs extras (i.e. rivets)

and finally, the kombi weapons for the nobs. i cut and pasted my own form different bits, mainly so that they can be held with one hand or slung on the back and not look weird

Sorted!

@ Davylove - yeah i do think i have to do it lol, i have like a load of ideas about how it'll look in my head already! deffo need to get that airbrush first, otherwise none of it will get painted hahaha

Again, a rather erratic update. I looked at my kans the other day and thought 'i want more' so i bought some. That, topped with finding years worth of accumulated basing materials meant i got to work on my bases. pretty chuffed with them!

pix innit

old kans

the bases arent finished, but the general layouts im happy with

new kans - think i'm gonna take a few more modelling risks, as dynamic poses look amazing ad are fun to do.

really chuffed with this guy

the buggies have had a bit more work done. the 'smugglers run' looking buggy is finished i reckon, maybe gs rope around the tyres or something. the other one has been changed about as i wasn't too happy with it. it sort of looked cheap

and finally aside from swapping bits around to make my kans look a bit more individual, i needed something else. so i started making my own rokkit launchers

i present the (not completed) the tommy-rokkit. - for some reason the bit where in The Mask, when the bad guy has the mask on and fires bullets out of his mouth - inspired me to make this lol. random i know

anyways enjoy!

The Kanz kit is very good to give character trough positioning, I had a lot of fun too.
You're doing It right

The rokkit launcha is promising as well, good idea!
