Subject: Wib's Workbench II: The Revenge! - 22/05/2013 Vidya!
Now, some of you guys may remember me knocking around Dakka some time ago (or not, I won't take it personally), I had an Ork blog that ran it's course as the army reached completion and another based around a Khornate guard army that never really got off the ground.
That was about a year ago and I've sadly had very few chances, what with one thing and another, to actually play 40k in 2012. This kinda killed a lot of my desire paint but I'm getting back into the game (that is, the painting game not the tabletop) and thought it was about time I came back to Dakka. There's very little theme here, I'll just be posting whatever I do that's related to 40k (or just wargaming in general), this will undoubtedly include some artwork and the odd video as well, but we'll get to that later.
So to start off, here's the last model I finished, an old model from the first box-set I ever bought (I think around 1998). He was originally a weird mix of Black Legion and Night Lords painted sloppily in that paint you get with Airfix kits... it wasn't pretty. I think he looks happier now as an Iron Warrior.
My current painting project is an old Khorne Berzerker that I originally posted waaay back in my old blog, he used to look like this:
Now he's a little more colourful although still have a way to go. I also need to remember how to photograph minis again...
As a parting gift, please enjoy the first couple of comics I recently did for a new little series called 'It'll all end in Heresy” based around the Horus Heresy book series, it's gone over fairly well so far. I'll post the rest later... amongst other things

So back in my old blog I showed some pictures of a SAG mek I'd been making from, well, basically whatever I had lying around. He showed up on Deviantart fully painted some time ago but he's since been tweaked a little and photographed in a much more flattering light:
Time for a little bit of an art dump, just to get stuff here caught up with where I am, first something brand new that I did as an ID for my Deviantart page:
Because Full Metal Jacket is relevant right? I'm down with the kids... hip and all that jazz, aren't I?
Next is the other comics of the HH comic series I'm doing:
Thanks Darth Bob, there will hopefully be plenty more
Did some more work on the Dark Angel:
Just have his pauldron iconography and backpack to do then I think I'm done. The original army I had (waaay back when I was a kid) was Dark Angels so it's nice to finally get at least one looking how I always wanted them to.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Wasn't planning on doing the chapter badge today but I had a sudden urge to do it:
I tried using a transfer but it just couldn't get it looking right, guess any freehand practice is a good thing

First off, I finished the Dark Angel and am just awaiting daylight so I can get some nice pictures of it and secondly I finished up the picture I posted a WIP of a little while ago:
It's for a little series of videos I've been doing with my wife which are made of up gameplay footage, like a let's play but edited down so they're not quite such a drain on time. I wouldn't normally bring it up here (outside of the link in my sig) but this one is 40k related so if you're interested you can see it below... although I warn you now, our videos contain much swearing... the wife's Australian and can't help it, i'm just a terrible human being. So I guess you'd say they're NSFW.
@MrMerlin: Glad you like them. My Orks have been neglected for some time I'm afraid... although I have a few things in progress that will appear here soon

The last week has just flown by and I haven't got around to much on the painting front but I do have a little something to show you. I've had the Daemon prince lying around for years with a god-awful paintjob so I decided it was time to strip, re-assemble and re-paint him with some vague degree of ability, or at least try. Here's where he stands at the moment:
Needs a lot more work but hey, it's a start. Oh, and i'm up for suggestions as to what chapter the marine on his base (not that it's particularly obvious what he is from that angle) should be, he was going to be a Dark Angel but now the DP is green too i'm not so keen on the idea.
On the art related front please enjoy a cutesy servo skull:
Which comes from the second part of our Fire Warrior video which you can watch below (and I re-iterate the warnings of sweary NSFW-ness of these videos), sadly the servo skull has only the briefest of cameos.
Hopefully my next update will be a little less photoshoppy and a little more painty

Been toying with the idea of getting some MkIV marines to make some Pre-Heresy World Eaters, thought they'd look kinda cool with a little bit of fur so sketched up an idea and, well... I ended up spending an awful lot of time on it.
Have you noticed I tend to flit around different things a lot? Cause yeah, I flit around different things a lot.
After the aforementioned festive lull I've finally managed to got some painting down... hell, I even finished it, sort of.
I had a spare grot lying around and I felt like painting something that wasn't imperial (or human, for that matter), he's a Bad Moon because I love tormenting myself into painting yellow.
But why the shoddy base? Because he has a nicer one on the way!
Hopefully I'll basecoat the base today so I don't end up with yet more on the 'mostly painted but not actually finished', pile.
I love the yellow, great paint and conversion work here.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.
