I assume you'll be adding them, but just to make sure, I recommend adding some more fixinz and boltz to the arms. As they are they are a bit too clean looking now.

Awesome pose and shape to the arms though. He's looking very much like said "warmachine".. Maybe you could make the shootaz even a bit bigger looking with some attachments?

Check out my Project (B)log! I would love any suggestion or comments you may have.

Morgrim may look busy now but ive seen finished stuff that looks busier than that.

With a drum feed and to keep it from being held why not undersling em, then if you wanted to belt feed it would look better too maybe

I like the drum-fed shoota, once the iron sight and part of the barrel guard have been cut away it's fine.

I may be biased as that's traditionally been my favourite gun for bio-mechanical shenanigans

If you go for duo-belt feeds, don't some of the nob sluggas have feeds from the opposite side? Could use that as the basisi for a new shoota.

Good start on the armour, what are your plans for the gauntlets?

DA DARK ANGELZ - DA JOURNEY SO FAR...
"Wotz dis den?" Morgrim eyed the thick manuscript Skarag was attempting to hand him suspiciously. "Da report ov da Dark Angelz, az you requested sar!" Skarag replied, attempting to hand off the report again. "How many pages iz dat ting?" Morgrim demanded. "50 pages sar!" Morgrim was not interested in reading 2 pages, let alone 50. "Look 'ere now Skarag. I want a 'executive summry' - got it? Uvverwise, dere will be a 'summry execution' - got it?" "Yes sar!"

I almost can't believe I started this project blog in August 2009 - over a year and a half ago now. I don't know whether 50 pages is a pro or a con for new or old readers, but *I* certainly have difficulty remembering and accessing all of the information! Hence I thought now, with 50 pages, it would be a great time to take stock and provide a "catchup" summary page for new and old - but mostly me

Warning - this is going to be a *long* ride! (I think I should try to to this every 10 pages not 50!)

Notes
  • Originally this was meant for the start of 2011 - when it was only 40 pages - doh!
  • My original fear, that I didn't complete anything in 2010, was unfounded. The last completed models were in April 2010. Though, that does mean I am over a year without finishing anything... No wonder all the paint nuts have left…
  • I wonder if there is a post size limit?
  • A lot of my army wide painting is only available to see in group shots or my battle reports - I haven't taken close ups of a lot of individuals since their modelling was complete!

  • INTRODUCTION
After getting the 40K itch again I decided to build up my Ork army once again. I used to play Orks and Dark Angels, but wanting to concentrate on only one army (to begin with anyway), so I decided to meld the two - and hence the Dark Angels themed Blood Axe Waaagh! - Da Dark Angelz.

    WELCOME TO "DA DARK ANGELZ"
Da Dark Angelz are a Blood Axe war band who have taken mimicking the Imperium to the next logical step - Space Marines! More specifically - Dark Angels! While my original thoughts were around utilising Space Marine "taktiks" - I think it also works as Blood Axe sneakiness, trying to hoodwink Imperial forces (did that Space Marine look a bit green to you?).

  • DA DARK ANGELZ WAAAGH! 16/05/2010
All Waaaghs! include a numba of Warbosses and Oddboyz who stand aside from da kompany organisation. In da Dark Angelz these individuals are know as da Inna Circul. Membas of da Inna Circul may be assigned ta fight wiv a kompany in battle, an include da Chapta's Warpheadz, Weirdboyz and Painboyz.

Da Chapta relies on a large support staff. Although each Warboss is an Ork, there are actually relatively few Orks in da Chapta's support staff, and most non-combatant roles are performed by da Chapta's Grotz. Da largest group of Orks in da support staff are da Chapta's Meks and Big Meks, who are aided in their tasks by hundreds of Grot Oilers.

Each of da ten kompanies dat comprise da Chapta iz led by a Warboss, who has progressed thru da ranks of da Deffwing and iz a memba of da Inna Circul. He is attended by a Nobz mob, consisting of da Kompany Waaagh! Banna Bearer, Painboy and Kompany Champion, as well as other Nobz assigned to aid da Warboss in his duties. Each Kompany apart from da Deffwing also includes a Painboy, who presides over the Orks physical wellbeing and stirs their fury upon da field ov battle.

Of da ten kompanies comprising da Dark Angelz, da first two are unique and do not follow standard Codex organisation. Da 1st Kompany is called da Deffwing and consists of Nobz. Membas of da Deffwing always fight in Mega Armour, and are never fielded in 'eavy armour as is the case with most other Chaptas.

Da Rav'nwing is da name of da 2nd Kompany of da Dark Angelz. It is a highly specialised formation used for scouting and assault missions where speed is more important dan 'eavy firepower. To this end all of da Orks in da kompany ride on Warbikes, Warbuggies or Deffkoptas, which are organised into special units called attack or support squadrons.

Da remainda of da Chapta iz organised along Codex lines. Da 3rd, 4th and 5th are Battle kompanies, each consists of up to six mobz of Taktikal Orks, two of Assault, and two of Devestatas. These three Battle kompanies form the main battle lines and generally bear da brunt of da fighting.

Kompanies 6 and 7 are Taktikal kompanies, each consisting of ten Taktikal mobz. These act as a reserve which may be used to bolster da front line, launch diversionary attacks or stem enemy flankin moves.

Da 8th Kompany consists of ten Assault squads. Dis highly mobile kompany is often equipped with Rokkit Packs, and is fielded in da assault role whereva a strong hand-to-hand fighting force is needed to storm an enemy strongpoint.

Da 9th Kompany consists of ten Devestata mobz. It iz da most powerfully equipped kompany in da Chapta and is used to bolster defence points and provide long-range support.

Da 3rd to 7th Kompanies are each able to field mobz of Kompany Veterans in da place of Taktikal Mobz, and dese Orks are essentially armed in a similiar manna to a Taktikal mob.

Da 10th Kompany consists of a numba ov Grot squads. Dere is no formal size for dis kompany as da rate of recruitment/death iz not fixed.

All of da kompanies, wiv da exception of da Deffwing, da Rav'nwing and da Grot kompany maintain Trukk transports for each of dere mobz and Nobz. Da Kommand mob ov each kompany 'as its own Battlewagon, and more are 'eld centrally by da Armoury, each being allocated to individual mobz as dictated by da needs of dere mission. Da Deffwing 'ave a permanent establishment of Battlewagonz for carrying Mega Armoured Nobz, and more are 'eld in da Armoury for use as requested by da Kompany Warboss on da spot.

Many of da Battle kompanies an Reserve kompanies include a numba of Deff Dreads. Tis customary for Deff Dreads to remain a part of da kompany in which da Ork served before being permanently wired into an enclosed metal kan in which he fights, and 'is presence bolsters da kompany's fightin strength considerably. Deff Dreadz assigned to da Deffwing are particularly revered warriors.

  • Suggestions
  • "UnfORKiven" - Magc8Ball
  • "Why don't you add some terrible gult in they're history?" - punkow

  • MODELLING - OVERVIEW
  • Use DA shoulder pads, backpacks etc - but probably limited to one per model - maybe two for Nobz/characters - and perhaps with "convershons" - they are Orks after all, I don't want them to be too regimented... It should give me a pyschological edge against DM armies - more so than a mere smattering of SM heads
  • Scenic bases/movement trays for units

  • Suggestions
  • "Maybie make a matrix ork O_o Doing the limbo while shooting..." - Great Unclean One
  • "...but the SM backpacks dont fully add up. On a SM its attached to the power armour, how is it attached to the orc? A leather or chain strap like a jump pack might work? Or could it be a maddoc bionic thing?" - Bruiant
  • "...maybie give some orks the tops of SM helmets as hats? Would look cool and add to the sneaky aspect, could have scooped the gubbins and brains out and made an orky helmet out of it." - Great Unclean One
  • "...buy the DA veterans box and then create an ork wearing a DA cloak as that will look like they really are imitating them completely" - Imperial Monkey
  • "You should get a real jeweler's saw and a bench pin..." - Gitsplitta
  • Tools recommendations - Gitsplitta
  • "Space Marine shoulder pads! "Dey goin unna cova!" - Heffling
  • "I think you need an ork wearing the power armour torso piece" - Imperial Monkey
  • "...the torso I'm on about is on the Ravenwing sprue, instead of having the Imperial Eagle on the front it is a DA logo." - Imperial Monkey

  • PAINTING - OVERVIEW
  • Work with the idea that more white = higher rank
  • I have added "mob" markings (tattoos) denoting Blood Axes, designation (Taktikal, Assault or Big Gunz) and "Kompany" markings as well. The left shoulder sports the Blood Axes tribe icon in white (crossed axes) while the right uses a red bone for the "Taktikal" designation (earlier) or the Ork "Troops" icon (later) - a straight Ork mouth with two tusks - with a white roman numeral for the mob number. The Assault tattoo marking differs from the Taktikal one - its the same Blood Axes tribe icon, except in red. I am saving the lightning bolt icon for Da Rav'nwingz.
  • The aim is, up close (ie opponent, hangers on) it is easily identifiable as orks. Specifically, everything should be identifiable as orky - albeit with DA "insparashun". However, from across the room it should look like a very wrong DA army. Either way - if it makes people look twice it will have met one of my goals. Exclamations of "cool" or "awesome" are just a bonus
  • I think I am going to break my progress into lots of 5 models and see how that works out. For these purposes, warbikes will count as 2, deffkoptas and the big mek will count as 3 and the trukks will count as 5.

  • The red on Da Mig Bek and da Stormboyz Nobz is taken from White Dwarf (UK) 365 - May 2010 - 'Eavy Metal Masterclass "Black Orc Big Boss". It is done in 9 stages (hmmm... I seem to have missed the weathering stage on the Stormboyz Nobz - must go back and fix that!)

    1. Basecoat Mechrite Red
    2. 1:1 Blazing Orange/Mechrite Red thick edge highlight
    3. Blazing Orange edge highlight
    4. 1:2 Blazing Orange/Vomit Brown thin edge highlight
    5. Vomit Brown thinnest edge highlight
    6. Wash Asurmen Blue into recesses and shaded areas
    7. Weathering: 1:3 Blazing Orange/Vomit Brown applied in small patches
    8. Scorched Brown inside above patches
    9. Chainmail inside above.

Green weathering was 3:1 Bleached Bone to Snotling Green (I think) and then 1:1 Dark Angels Green to Chaos Black. First was too light in my opinion - will try 2:1 next time. Pure Dark Angels Green was too light, but I think 1:1 was too dark - so will try 2:1 next time. Bone/White weathering was... doh! I can't remember! Probably Bleached Bone and Calthan Brown... Followed with pure Scorched Brown - possibly too dark - will see what the boltgun metal does... Red was as stated previously. Blue was as per White Dwarf Astrogoth (sp?) power weapon (colour wise) with Asurmen Blue wash. Robe was 3:1 Bleached Bone/Calthan Brown, then 2:1, then Badab Brown wash. Everything mixed with equal parts Gloss Varnish.

    HQ
    Da Mega Armoured Warboss
  • Azrael theme for the mega armoured warboss. Two Grot "seekers" as wound counters - one the helmet bearer, and one dragging a large sword.

  • Suggestions
  • "Are you going to make your warboss "Da Lion"?" - Darth Bob
  • "I'm glad you liked my idea to nickname the boss "Da Lion". You should totally give him long blonde hair and lions on his armor" - Darth Bob
  • "it would be cool if you gave a model a attack squig with a hood on- to represent da eaters in da dark" - moonshine
  • "...mega armored warboss Belial-ish." - whalemusic360

  • Da Biker Warboss
    Suggestions
  • "...the Biker boss needs a Jetbike for sure (Sammy)" - whalemusic360

  • Da Big Mek
  • Mek's in red like the SM Tech Priest

  • Suggestions
  • "I would love to see a Mek with imitated servo-harness, add some DA shoulder Pads to them also." - Imperial Monkey
  • "if you do make the servo harness add some more arms and some saws/drills to make it REALLY orky!" - Great Unclean One
  • "another idea is to have some snotlings with servitor partsto make them look like they have been made that way by an inventive mek, copying a techmarine that he had fought/seen!" - Imperial Monkey
  • "Also the shock gun as a thunderfire cannon would be ironic, cuz DA cant have one, lol." - whalemusic360

  • Weirdboy/Warphead
  • Weirdboyz in blue.

  • Mad Doc
  • Black armour (Interrogator Chaplain equivalent), white armour (Apothecary equivalent) or mixed (mixed equivalent) - may represent his madness better!

  • Suggestions
  • "I'm not sure about doc grotsnik being the best Chaplain comparison...he sounds more likean apothecary." - Imperial Monkey

  • Wazdakka
    Suggestions
  • "...what you could do is count wazdakka as a biker ork called sam-i-yell or summin" - moonshine

  • ELITES
    Da Deffwing
  • Mega Armoured Ork Nobz in bone white armour. Bone white transports (Trukks/Battlewagons)
  • Looted Deathwing Landraider "counts as" Battlewagon
  • Replace heads with Nob heads - the Meganobz heads don't seem big enough.
  • Robes
  • Arm Mega-armour looks as simple as a strip of plasticard running down the top of the arm (possibly file the arm down a bit first) - then a plasticard strip joined on top of that down to the Powerklaw. A regular shoulder pad on the upper arm, then some pistons at the back.

  • Suggestions
  • "Gonna do one doing a Darth Vader lifting a Marine?" - Miss Dee
  • "...converting meganobz from termie legs." - Sageheart
  • "Take a looted DA Land Rader." - Miss Dee
  • "Ive found that the Black Orc helmet heads from fantasy seem to fit them (MANZ) absolutely pertfectly! ... Have you thought of using a couple Termi bits in them? Could convert a heavy Flamer to be a Kombi-Skorcha, and assault cannons are definitely orky" - Ramos Asura
  • "I think the plastic nob heads work well on them. Then you can use the spare metal heads to convert some lootas." - Wazzdig Dagga
  • "Now what those meganobz need is to lose the legs and get some tracks" - monkeytroll
  • "Can you give Nobz big shootas? then you could have an underslung one to look like an assault cannon, or you could do a flamer to look like a heavy flamer" - Imperial Monkey
  • "think the underslung heavy wepons is a really good idea. A skorcha heavy flamer would be epic. An assult cannon would also be cool." - bigfish

  • Da Inna Circul (Nobz)
  • All Nobz are part of Da Deffwingz which will be denoted by bone white shirts, cloth pieces and any leg armour plates. Bone white transports (Trukks/Battlewagons)
  • More bone white in the Nobz similiar to DA veterans (ie members of Da Deffwingz minus Mega Armour).
  • Painboy in white (Apothecary equivalent), possible black or mixed (Chaplain/Interrogator Chaplain or mix equivalent

  • Suggestions
  • "…also buy the DA vetrens set and make Nobs with power fists that the nicked, add some DA shoulder Pads to them also." - Imperial Monkey
  • "…maybie use some SM banners as a bosspole or standard? Maybie make a nob squad like a command squad!" - Great Unclean One
  • "maybe use some looted termi armour for the nobs ." - da-chaos-orks
  • "…but you have got to have a nobz squad mounted ina drop pod that has been orkifiyed" - Imperial Monkey
  • "...the Nob Waaagh Banner guy whos just genearic now, maybe with a robe." - whalemusic360

  • Da Kommandoz
  • Bottom white (white trouserz, green tops and armour plates)
  • Another option for the Kommandoz would be a camo pattern in white, black and green. It would also be distinctive, but SM don't tend to use it... Option to do their gunz (whateva they happen to be - bolters, sniper rifles, etc) in black (instead of red) - perhaps delineating individual units.
  • Pilfered Bolters and/or Sniper Rifles to denote their higher status - adding an extra large blade or axe to a sniper rifle to "count as" a Choppa.
  • Sgt Naaman's squad equivalent "...experts at silent death using a variety of weapons including combat knives as well as silence bolt pistols."
  • Sniper rifles, cloaks, ghuillie suits

  • Suggestions
  • "Another idea is to give them some pilfered blotters." - Imperial Monkey
  • "Or Sniper Rifles." - Miss Dee
  • "How about wrapping their sluggas in bandages, big blackened knives and ragged cloaks with bits of twigs stuck in? Make it look as if they are trying their hardest to make some camo…" - endtransmission
  • "on the kammandos, they are like the veterans for orks maybe you could use the DA veteran cloaks and dirty them up in camo" - Eldarranger
  • "...hows about some kommandos as scouts? With some suitably oversized sniper rifles, nightsight goggles and cloaks." - MeanGreenStompa

    Da Boyz
  • Boyz in dark angels green.
  • Well, the boyz already have tattoos which I will keep - Mob designation (ie Taktikal, Assault, etc) in red on their right shoulder with Mob number in white over the top in Roman numerals, Blood Axe symbol in white on their left shoulder. The main issue is finding a spot for the Kompany designation - most boyz just don't come with the appropriate knee pad! Some have backplates which I can use, others shoulder pads, and if all else fails, I may split it across the metal plates across the top of the shoulder straps... I may be able to vary it up and use shoulder pads for actual Mob designation, number and Blood Axe symbol (if I have enough spaces for other markings...), or perhaps I can do some of the loin cloths in Kompany markings - there's a thought... (though difficult to see!)

  • Da Grotz
  • Going with farthest from white, maybe black and green? Perhaps with some browns... maybe green tops and brown trousers…
  • Runtherds in black (Chaplain equivalent)
  • The other close representation for Chaplains is Runtherds - but obviously only for Grots... Again though, I plan (barring awesome suggestions to the contrary) to do them in black.

  • Suggestions

  • "Your Grot kompany needs some Grot tanks, spanner boyz and grot bomz (I forget their actual name); plus there seems to be a need for Whirlwind and Vindicator replacements to add a bit of siege weaponry." - endtransmission
  • "I think the Runtherds are probably a pretty good fit for Chaplains as they are both keepers of tradition, help guide the Klan/Chapter and both carry round great big sticks for beating people. Plus any Orky version of a Crozius would be fun to make." - endtransmission

  • Trukks
  • What width tubes are you using for the trukk? 4mm (diameter) for the outside, 2mm inside, with a 1mm hole for copper rod.
  • Initial attempt at the "springs" were 0.8mm plasticard tubes wound tight over plastic glue.
  • Found wire (paperclips) better for shock springs - though something softer may be better
  • I now have actual springs for future attempts

  • Suggestions
  • "I love the trucks... I think you should model one going off a dirt ramp Dukes of Hazard style." - dementedwombat
  • "Instead of the flying base, how about having the truck driving up/off a wrecked rhino? You also need some grots/snotlings hanging onto the trucks for dear life to give it a bit more motion. Possibly one or two slipping off" - endtransmission
  • "What about a PK nob manning the boarding plank?" - The Good Green
  • "For the boarding plank: add in a winch, like a drawbridge!" - CommissarKhaine
  • "For the boarding plank, how about having it so the Nob is in the process of dropping the ramp? If you had some chain attached to the far end of the ramp going to the Nob's free hand, or a winch in the trukk, and the Nob kicking the ramp down? (kinda like someone kicking in a door) Say he's got one foot in the trukk and one on the falling ramp, two magnets would attach the nob to both parts and relieve the need for propping the ramp up anywhere. The chain/winch would also hold the ramp in place via magnets." - endtransmission
  • "For the red paint job, have you considered proper graffiti in red letters? 'Fasta den U', 'Eat smoke!'... Easy to do and doesn't mess up the colour scheme too bad." - CommissarKhaine

  • Black armour
  • Apache style - but with a grot pilot and gunner - mimicking the actual cockpit setup of the Apache. Possibly I could put a third grot on top (perhaps with binoculars?) acting as the radar dome. Probably the main issue is the extra height it will add to the model...

    Planz
  • Requirements are Big Shoota, Reinforced Ram, Deffwing paintjob with green trim, Da Dark Angelz trademark "I can't believe its not moving" ramshackle look, "Arakasi" numba plate.
  • Will be the trukk Artsoldier35's internet squad will ride into battle on.
  • The Wrecking Ball will be going tow Trukk style at the back
  • Had considered a large bull like skull on the front - possibly the Warbiker skull front - or 'nid carcass - but there wasn't enough room
  • Could do a 'nid carcass on the back, under a tarp, Independence Day style (maybe with an Ork putting da boot or fist in, Will Smith style)
  • Need to put a Grot Rigger somewhere. Possibly under the gunner - but there may not be enough room. On the wheel cover seems a good alternative - though that is with Armour Plates!
  • Goals - look different to my other Trukk's, fit Artsoldier35's Humvee Trukk's style/aesthetic, Mach Truck look (from front)

  • Modelling
  • The old air intake was three pieces of plasticard tube glued together with a strip of 0.5mm plasticard sheet around the outside. I then glued another piece of 0.5mm plasticard sheet across the front. Scissors and then a hobby knife to trim it back to the shape of the intake. Pushed the tip of the hobby knife through the front of each tube and trimmed it back to the plasticard tube.
  • The new intake - cut from the top of the Trukk engine - just sits on top of the Deffkopta engine. Two small pieces of 1mm plasticard prop it up at the back. (The Deffkopta engine sits on two pieces of 1mm plasticard on top of the Trukk engine - where the intake *was*. The plasticard here was needed due to the interaction of the Deffkopta engine with the existing top shock absorber mounts...)
  • The driver's right arm is the standard Trukk driver right arm cut at the wrist and rotated. His left arm is an extended AOBR pistol arm with Trukk driver hand. The steering mechanism is extended on his right

  • Suggestions
  • "What will you be using for the front grille? That seems like a key part of the truck. Also, have you considered adding small symbol on front to represent the 'car brand' (like GM or BMW or Mercedes)?" - CommissarKhaine
  • "You should add an icon, on top of the hood, jaguar style . As for a frontal skull: the ogre bulls kit had a nice skull as well, which is a bit larger then the bike bit." - CommissarKhaine
  • "Planning on making some front windows or anything? I can really see a couple of fold down steel framed windows (like the old army jeep windows) on this machine." - SilverMK2
  • "Take the backpack ornamentation from the DA sprue and use them on your vehicles, methinks a Dread or Kan squad adorned in a rather OT way would look good!" - Imperial Monkey
  • "Like a giant Orkified DA gliff on the front of a dread?" - whalemusic360
  • "...the ones on small podiums, you know, that look like car hood ornaments...OH, that would look good on a couple of trucks!!" - Imperial Monkey
  • "You need a radio antenna sort of thing, bent in a certain direction with the 'movement'. It would add to the 'I can't believe it's not moving!' effect" - HadoukenAvenger
  • "The antenna could be tired down like that of an army transport. Traditionally they're mounted on the front bumper and bent back over the vehicle before being tied to the roof rack/roof. From this you could hang a rag or tie it down with a rag and have the tie have a long loose end that could be swinging in motion with the trukk, some lucky dice/SM helmets hanging from a rear vision mirror in line with the motion would also be good. also if you were to mod your drivers and crew to also be slanted/fumbling in the same direction it will imply the rock and motion of off-road driving, all these things are subtle movement ques that will give the trukk an overall feel of motion." - Santobell
  • "add the bumper sticker "Caution Trukk Permanently Sideways" to the rear" - Santobell
  • "No Squig not Ride" - Santobell
  • "Have a nice day!" - Artsoldier35
  • "With a smiley Ork glyph?" - Arakasi
  • "No Brakes!" - CommissarKhaine
  • "We stopz 4 nobodyz!!" - Miss Dee
  • "if ya can read this ,stay where ya are and go splat" - moonshine
  • "put black and white checks along the sides and put a taxi sign on the roof.... then make the driver look like robert deniro" - dantay_xv
  • "howz my drivin?", or "howz my shootin?" - slice'n'dice
  • "if you see this vehicle driving in an unsafe manner; Applaud" - The Good Green
  • "doesnt even have to be yellow trukk (although that would play towards a NY cab/ bad moon clan) Dark green would work though. I just thought the checks would fit nicely for any goff elements that you might have in the army. Instead of black and white, you could use red and white to match the dark angels colours. The taxi sign (if its not a dedicated transport) to show that he'll lug any boyz ta da rumble if dey got enuff teef!! Maybe give the trukk driver a mohican or a mohican-squig on his head and a few wart things on his cheek.... screaming with a gun in hiz hand like he's yelling the famous line " YOU TALKING TO ME??"" - dantay_xv
  • "Don't forget the gunwrack and the Deer (Tyranid) carcass across the hood." - Artsoldier35
  • "...a grot standing on the wheel cover fiddling with the engine.. or the bug carcass." - The Good Green
  • "And must have a stoogie as well, and an ork called "Fat Lady"" - Miss Dee
  • "And possibly an apple mac you can use to hack into imperial vehicles and loot them?" - slice'n'dice
  • "you could put the grot rigger so he is hanging off the trukk vy a rope or chain or somthing" - moonshine
  • "If you can get hold of the stompa gretchin, there's one hanging on which would look great trying to hold on and *not* falling of" - CommissarKhaine
  • "There's also the grot rigger from the Battlewagon which has one hand extended out and a wrench in the other. He's perfect for that "falling off" look." - Heffling
  • "As for the truck: is there a practical reason not to angle the hood a bit? It looks a tad boxy to me. Too many straight lines on an ork model" - CommissarKhaine

    Suggestions
  • "...some washes may well get you the less-orange look you want." - Mannahnin
  • "I always use a badab black wash on my steel parts, it just makes it look more natural in my opinion. I think a single glaze on the red parts and a single glaze on the metal is a winner. If you want to make your metal bits look worn or slightly rusty, after the black wash dries, give them a single wash of sepia. Gives them a nice, slightly brown patina that is very convincing for orks. You wouldn't want it to blend in too much with your red gun bits.. but you might experiment with one figure just out of curiosity." - Gitsplitta
  • "How about a red wash followed by devlan? Might keep the warm vibrant tone and just darken it rather than dirty it, I find I tend to use the badab mainly on metallics for similar reasons." - monkeytroll

    Plans
  • I had originally chosen green for the weapon a la Deathwing (who are often depicted with red or green weapons and green robes) as I was concerned there wouldn't be *enough* green to tie in with my army - hence also the Dark Angel on the base. I can, however, probably leave the final decision on the Burna till closer to the end and make a decision then - its hard to tell whether there is too much green until the highlighting is done... Another point in favour of a black Burna - I'm planning to do the circular canister in an electric blue similar to the KFF - and this will probably look a lot better against black than green... I *could* also do the Burna in red - but that might then be too much red...
  • I'm thinking I'm leaning more towards black for his Burna rather than bone (but either is better than the current green I think...)

  • Suggestions
  • "...leave the cloak white, they're orks so they wouldn't care that much. Plus, a white cloak willl show more unity than if it were black." - Imperial Monkey
  • "...for a techmarine. I'd stick with the white cloak as it will be more obvious. I'd probably go with a black gun though so it doesn't fade into the skin/armour tones." - endtransmission
  • "...a red burna could confuse the whole Dark Angels theme." - endtransmission
  • "White robe, black burna, electric blue details - looks like you got it covered." - CommissarKhaine
  • "As for the burna staying green: I'd go for a very dark green, almost black, otherwise: plain black. Just my opinion of course, but I feel a lighter green will detract from the model's skin." - CommissarKhaine
  • "...make the nozzle at the end metal, give it a thorough asurmen blue wash and then drybrush the end black, it gives it a really good flame-damaged look." - Imperial Monkey
  • "...consider adding ritting flesh or bleached bone for the final highlight stages. Alternatively, a thinned down blue or purple was would change the tone of the skin. And by 'dark green' I mean 'almost black with sharp edge highlights', to really emphasize the mechanical look and differentiate if from the skin." - CommissarKhaine
  • "...although I think that some (maybe the Mek) need a gold tooth or two" - Imperial Monkey
  • "The stormboyz look great and so does the kff. It looks like you are using enchanted blue for the undercoat, I would recommend using regal blue beacuse it makes the lighting stand out and it looks more un-natural." - moonshine
  • "It looks like enchanted blue over regal blue. It would probably look more electric if you went straight from regal blue and then do the electric effect in ice blue and maybe something lighter (space wolves grey worked for me)" - moonshine
  • "You could try a brighter basecoat and then work the enchanted/regal bue in after for the darker bits. (In this case you might want to mix a bit of black in for the final dark tone). I've found its much easier (and quicker) to highlight up to the very bright colours from a midtone. For contrast it helps to have some of the darkest areas almost touching the brightest areas." - Wazzdig Dagga

  • Banner Pole pennants - red with white glyphs and yellow with black glyphs
  • A small sliver of blood from the Marines mouths, and maybe around the Power Klaw entry point (darker)

  • Notes
  • The Dark Angels symbol on the Banner Pole is painte green - should it be white or red? It doesn't actually appear green in a Dark Angels force.
  • Chest skull - left this red. The reason I chose red was because it sits over the top of the Nob's "white" shirt and green trousers.

  • Scenic base for entourage - attack squig, ammo runt, boss pole bearer and three wound markers - helm bearer, sword bearer(s) and... something else I haven't thought of yet. The bearers will be grotz, suitably robed to look like Watchers.
  • Robes are mandatory.
  • May field Morgrim as either a MA Warboss or "counts as" Ghazghkull
  • Build the armoured part of the hand back up.
  • Fill in the armpit gaps.
  • Spike planned for the top, and some meat tenderiser bits or glyphs planned for the front face plate. And cables, lots of cables
  • Wingz on his helmet - but this will be carried by one of his Grot wounds markers/bearers.
  • More wingz? (a la Stormboyz Nobz)[list]Exhaust?
  • Stikkbomb chukka
  • Shield weathering, add some weld marks or bracing straps or chains and/or rivets

  • Unused ideas
  • Underslung twin assault cannons (=twin linked (big) shootas)
  • Or one mounted on (or below) each wrist...
  • Drop the shield, put on back or have a grot wound marker drag to use that arm for the assault cannons and/or a power klaw - pointing or beckoning.
  • Action pose - wielding the sledgehammer two handed in an overhead strike.
  • Mount the assault cannons more to the back in a "not in use" War Machine pose
  • Grot manned Big Shoota

  • Notes
  • Completely ignore (read file down to nothing) the arm "pegs". We are not using either of the two "standard" positions
  • Trim the top of the arm back to the armour plate to get the right angle to attach to the torso. Rotate backwards about 45 degrees to make the swing.
  • Deffkopta engine (the hammer part) and Big Choppa Axe blade (the balance?) for the Thunderhammer. The Deff Dread/Killa Kanz/Warbuggy engines looked two big and lumpy in the wrong places
  • Left arm rotated until the hand is almost perpendicular with the ground. The leftover top of the Power Klaw will be the centre of the Terminator shield
  • Shield back plate from a leftover Trukk reinforced ram and cut it in half to fit on either side of the left over Power Klaw gubbins.

  • Issues
  • Shield - too much detail, drawing attention/detracting from the rest of the model/over the top.

  • Suggestions

You could have the hammer to his side and back, beckoning the enemy forward with his klaw or directing his minions, if you want something less action-filled? The problem with the overhead pose is 1) that the bas emodel will be hell if you're using ghazzy and 2) that it'll easily obscure the face- not something you want on a character IMO. If you want to add some humour, add a turret on his shoulder with a grot manning the big shoota" - CommissarKhaine

Most of dem soft umies fall quickly to da choppas of iz boyz, but one keeps fightin with da boyz choppas just bouncin off iz big armour. Morgrim tinks - Dis givs me an idea - if I strap one of dem big armoured umies to a shield, ize gonna be unstoppable! 3. Morgrim looks down at iz shield wiv a frown - its just not taktical enuff... Needs sumfin more... Grimskab walks up and dumps the body of the green beakie captain ontop of Morgrims shield and sayz, "Dats da last of dem boss - wat do yaz wanna do with dis umie?". Skarag Mekslag strode through the boyz camp, tattered white robes flowing out behind him, seemingly oblivious to the weight of the kustom force field generator strapped to his back. He tried to recall why he was here. Warboss Morgrim "Da Lion" Grimork had sent him on ahead with a small contingent - but why? Skarag unconsciously fiddled with the knobs and dials on his burna - simultaneously helping his mind to focus and causing da boyz to give him a wide berth. Allies. Pinkskins. His concentration wavered as conflicting emotions and memories flooded his ork mind. Protect. Destroy. Protect. Destroy. A wayward grot crossed his path, interrupting the confusion and allowing him to focus once more. With a single thought, one of his tentacled servo arms lashed out, removing the grot from his sight, and indeed, the near vicinity. Trade. Weapons. Armour. Loot. Protect, then destroy!

Mind cleared, Skarag surveyed the small warband under his command. Quickly satisfying himself that all da boyz were accounted for, he made his way over to the trukks and deffkoptas and set about making a few last minute adjustments. Two ork arms and four servo arms went to work in a blur of flesh, cables and steel. The confusion Skarag had experienced became a distant memory. It was times like these when Skarag recalled a much simpler existence - before Grimskab Badwort the pain boy had started administering gin seed or progoid lands or some such to da inna circul...

    23/11/2009
    History of Da Dark Angelz

No boy is quite sure 'ow it 'appened, but dey are pretty sure it started with Grimskab Badwort da pain boy... Ya know, da boyz expect those treated by pain boyz to not be quite "themselves" afterwards, but Grimskab was more than not himself after being patched up by another pain boy during the Piscina IV campaign. At first, no-one thought twice (orks rarely think once!) about his sudden ability to track down da dark green coloured beakies, his success at suggesting ways to ambush them, nor his increased enthusiasm for hacking them to pieces. He was of the Blood Axe clan after all. When he got a little *too* enthusiastic, Morgrim Grimork (Da Boss) still found a good fist would put him in his place. This was, of course, until Morgrim found himself needing Grimskab's "services"...

You see, according to da grotz - Grimskab hadn't been mindlessly hacking up beakies - he 'ad been "extractin" stuff - gin seed or progoid lands or some such. Grimskab had been self administerin himself. Da grotz had learnt to determine Grimskab's mood based on how much supply he had and how long it had been since the last administration. Da boyz began to learn the same lessons once Morgrim had also been administered to - his temperament swung from tactical genius (for an Ork, even a Blood Axe) soon after an "administration" to downright unbearable (ie normal Orky) once it had "bin awhile". He also became obsessed with tracking down da dark green beakies - especially da chaos ones - apparently their gin seed was "pure"...

Slowly over time, as more nobz, odd boyz and boyz required Grimskab's "services" - whether as a result of battle, opportunity or da boss order'in it, da inna circul came into being and Da Ork Angelz took shape. Now dey scour the galaxy for da dark green beakies, tak'n dere gin seed and progoid lands and metabolising it, integrating strange knowledge of tactics, force structure, technology, locations and secrets... - if only their Orky minds could fully grasp what they had been given access to!

Having been patched up with genetic material from a Dark Angels apothecary fallen in battle on Piscina IV by a pain boy (rumoured, but not confirmed to ne the Mad Doc himself), Grimskab became a twisted combination of apothecary and pain boy. Da Ork Angelz, the upper echelons also now similarly administered, have come to adopt a similar uniform, tactics and force structure - albeit from an Orky perspective - including Da Deff Wing and D Rav'nwing. Da boyz don't care - if anything, they get to krump more stuff!

    --- end of history ---

Skarag Mekslag and da Pain Boy'z Errand - Part I 11/01/2010
Skarag was not inna good mood. Da Pain Boy 'ad got it inta 'is 'ead (after reviewing da loot from da last time dey raided dis miserable planet) dat dere may be sumthin worth retrievin for... Skarag scratched 'is head - nup - couldn't rememba. It wouldn't 'ave bin a problem if da Pain Boy didn't 'ave da ear of da Warboss. Skarag was no retriever squig! But den again, he wasn't no Warboss either... And so 'ere he woz with 'is ladz, trying to find somethin or other. At least da last time he was sent out it was ta ambush sum 'umies woz thought dey would be allies - da very thought cheered him up some! Skarag secretly hoped ta bump inta da Tau boyz - dere weaponz would be much more interestin an useful den anything da Pain Boy could come up with...

Two of da ladz came hurrying up to Skarag. "We've found wot da Pain Boy woz lookin for", said one, gesturing vaguely to da left - "its over dere in that clearin". Skarag grimaced, no battle or loot then. "Da Deffkopta boyz have sited da Tau - dere across da way, and seem to be protecting somethin..." said da uvver one. Skarag smiled - da day woz lookin up! "Right you lot! Mount up - I wanna see wot doze Tau are protecting!". "What about da Pain Boy stuff?" "Sod that, we can come back for that later!"

Skarag Mekslag and da Pain Boy'z Errand - Part II 11/01/2010
Skarag was a little disappointed dat da battle woz over so soon, and at how little was worth looting. Figuring dat some more Tau might come check on da now missing Tau, or come back for da stuff they were protecting before, he set da boyz to set an ambush. As dawn approached he feared dat da ladz might not get anuvver chance before dey needed ta get back to da Warboss - but den he saw the silhouettes on the ruins and knew some more fun would be in the offerin. He couldn't wait for all da boyz to wake up - let them give chase - the roar of da Trukk would be alarm clock enough!

    16/01/2010
Thingz woz lookin' up. Maybe da Pain Boy did knowz watz hez wuz doin? Da good news woz dat apparently a large contingent of da beakie Deffwing, along with some 'umies and even some of doze 'umies wot we 'ad doublecrossed 'ad shown up on da Tau world. Da bad news woz da rest of da boyz wouldn't get dere in time for da krumpin. Skarag scratched his chin - bad news for da rest of da boyz anyway. Still, da boss believed taktiks dictated dat a large, dispensable screen would be needed to ensure Skarag's small band of boyz got where dey woz needed, and without enough grotz on hand, Skarag had been tasked to find a suitable replacement. Consequently, Skarag 'ad 'ad to return wot Tau stuff and prisoners da boyz 'ad looted as a sign of good faith (well, da bitz wot he couldn't finda use for anywayz) in exchange for joinin "da greata good". Temporarily of course - just long enough for dem ta take da brunt of da beakie an 'umie shoot'n. Da Ork trukks lined up behind da Tau trukks, directly facing da beakie Deffwing. Skarag ordered both Ork trukks to give da Tau a friendly "nudge" and da battle began. Skarag watched, mesmerised, as da Tau guns effortlessly wrecked a Landraida - making a mental note to investigate dem more carefully after da inevitable "leaving of da greata good". More of da beakie Deffwing appeared - raisin' a roar from da boyz as dey would now 'ave enough ta go around. One Tau trukk fell, fulfilling its purpose. And den da boyz were in amongst ta thick of it...

    04/04/2010
It had been quiet, too quiet. Skarag found it… perplexing. On one hand, he had had time to concentrate on repairs and modifications. On da uvva hand, da boyz were getting restless… Still, he didn't like being interrupted - which was why it took several grotz to eventually inform him dat Da Boss wanted to see 'im. Skarag grunted. Being summoned by Da Boss was, inconvenient. Travelin' to da Rok would take 'im away from 'is important work and there was always the possibility dat da tellyporta would land you somewhere, else. Worse, it would probably entail bumping into Grimskab and a dose of gin seed and progoid lands…

Skarag left his makeshift workshop and 'eaded towards da tellyporta. He had only taken a couple of steps before a familiar voice stopped 'im in 'is tracks. "Oi! Da Boss 'is dis way you lug!" Grimskab had appeared from behind one of da trukks. "Wot are yuze doin 'ere?" Skarag said, warily approaching da Pain boy. Grimskab nonchalantly played with 'is 'Urty Syringe. "Boss' orders. 'Urry up - don't want ta keep 'im waitin'! E's in 'ur, I mean 'is, hut!" Grimskab lumbered off towards what used to be Skarag's hut, a couple of grot orderlies scurrying after him, weighed down with large syringes, indelicate rusty tools and suspicious looking canisters. Skarag loped after 'im. If Da Boss was on da planet, something' was afoot - but Skarag couldn't help but dink Grimskab would be behind it…

"Wot took you so long?". Morgrim Grimork, "Da Lion", sat relaxed in what could only be described as a throne, surrounded by Nobz from Da Inna Circul, barely able to all fit in Skarag's hut. 'Is voice, however, was serious, dour. "Neva mind. I 'ave reports dat da Fall'n are aroun' 'ere somewhere an dat dey 'ave been in contact wiv da Fishboyz." The grin on Grimskab's face did not escape Skarag. "Ready da boyz - we 'ead out to check for clues to dere whereaboutz, an if we 'appen ta come across da Fishboyz, well I expect we'll be asking' dem nicely fer directions and loot…". Morgrim paused briefly as Da Inna Circul burst into laughter. "Silence! We move out now. I will be comin' along ta make sure its all done propa!"

Grimskab smelt at the air and pointed a taloned finger to the north west. "Ova dere. Da Fall'n have bin 'ere, I'm sure of it - I can smell'em. Morgrim turned to Skarag. "What of da Rav'nwing - any news?". Skarag smirked at Grimskab. "Fishboyz. Two 'Amma'eadz, a Dev'lfish an some flyboyz. Morgrim signalled da boyz. "Mount up lads. Take care ov da Fishboyz first." Grimskab started to speak, but Morgrim cut 'im off. "Then we'll see about dem clues to where da Fall'n are…"

    07/04/2010
Morgrim surveyed the carnage with indifference. Da Fishboyz 'ad not impressed 'im. If anytink, he woz mildly annoyed. Not by da destruction of 'is Trukk - plenty more where dat came from, and da culprits 'ad bin dealt with - personally - but by da delay. It would 'ave bin okay if da Fishboyz 'ad put up a decent fight…

Grimskab paced before 'is two prisonas, gesturing wildly with a running buzzsaw. Grot orderlies scurried about, making sure to give 'im a wide berth. "Right you two!" Grimskab addressed da captives, "One of use is gunna tell me where da beakies went, da uvver is gunna say 'ello to my little friend." Grimskab opened da throttle on the da buzzsaw for effect, the whir of da buzzsaw elevatin' to a high pitched whine. "So whose it gunna be?" Grimskab spun so dat 'is back faced da captivs, 'is arms stretched out and back. Somethin' stopped 'im from spinnin' completely aroun'. Da buzzsaw's high pitched whine reduced once again to a whir, but dis time more laboured, and accompanied by the sound of bone and flesh being ripped apart. Grimskab felt something warm and sticky splatter across 'is back. He turned back around, pulling da buzzsaw free of what remained of da capiv's 'ead. "Oops… You lot!" Grimskab pointed to the grot orderlies, "Check dat one for gin seed." Da remainin' captiv looked on in horror as three Grotz tore wot remained of his comrade apart with cruel, vicious tools. "Right, where was I? Yes - you woz gunna tell me what I need ta know!"

"Wot took so long?" Morgrim demanded as Grimskab, covered in Fishboy blood and flesh, approached. "'Ad ta check'em for gin seed." Morgrim scratched 'is 'ead. "I thought only da beakies 'ad gin seed?" Grimskab grinned. "Can neva be too sure Boss!" Morgrim's muscles flinched impatiently. Grimskab took the cue and proceeded directly with 'is report. "Da beakies woz 'ere, but sum time ago. Dere's a fresha battle site dat way…"

    06/07/2010
Grimskab Badwort quickly entered the grand chamber of his Warboss - Morgrimm "Da Lion" Grimork - an evil grin on his face, which, while not visible due to his dried blood spattered surgikal mask, burned clearly in his Orkish red eyes. Morgimm silenced the Nobz - da Inna Circul - with a sharp ringing sound made by clashing two of their armoured heads together. "Report!" Morgrimm bellowed in the recently acquired silence. Grimskab stood to attenshun - "Gin seed and progloid lands Boss - in da Partick system. But we need ta move fast!" There was a murmur of excitement from da Nobz. They didn't understand gin seed or progloid lands. They *did* understand it would require battle with da green beakies though. Morgrimm stared da Nobz back into silence. "And why would that be?" he asked calmly. "Da green beakies aren't the only ones in the system - uvver beakies, pinkies, fishboyz, bugz, spikey boyz, tinboyz and pointy 'eadz are all confirmed. We need ta get to 'em first!" Morgimm pondered. Multiple opponents for day boyz, all in one place, and gin seed and progloid lands to boot. He surveyed da Nobz - eagerly waiting his command. "Get Skarag in here now. I need doze Trukks ready - we're going to Partick!". There was a roar of approval from da Nobz. "And if we come across uvvers, we'll ask 'em for directions to da green beakies - Ork style!"

    14/08/2010
Morgrim surveyed the field. Dark Green Beakies littered the area. It had apparently been a good fight, but he was having difficulty remembering past the whack the Dreadnought had landed on him. Da boyz had regrouped, but without any of Da Inna Circul with him, there had been no-one to kick (literally) them into action collecting up the bodies for da painboy back on Da Rok. Well, there was Skarag - but he was too interested in the wrecked Dreadnought... Morgrim made a mental note to have more of da boyz "treated" with gin seed and progoid lands. These lapses were unacceptable. As he drew himself up to order da boyz to get out dere and collect doze beakies, da boyz started readying themselves for battle - almost as if attuned to his will. As Morgrim joined one of da Trukks he saw why - more of Da Green Beakies had returned. "Get'em ladz!" Morgrim bellowed. "An dis time - anyone not carrying a beakie back to Da Rok will be left behind!"

    03/09/2010
Morgrim scanned da field. Da painboy 'ad sed dere woz da Dark Green beakies in da system - an Grimskab woz usually, unnervingly, right. Forward reconnaissance had located points 'o interest dat might lead to dere location as well as a fishboy contingent including a numba of tanks in da area. Morgrim chuckled to himself as he considered da trap he 'ad prepared for da fishboyz. While his main boyz advanced, Snikrot would attempt to sneak behind and take dem from da rear, cutting dem off from retreat and ensuring none escape. Snikrot had suggested flanking with a Trukk or two as well, but Morgrim didn't trust da boyz not ta get distracted, and anywayz - dat sounded like panzy taktiks!

    27/12/2010
"Oi! Gavver roun' you lot! Let me tell ya a story ov why Morgrim iz da Boss!" Ozmodii waited patiently as the Ork youths stopped whatever they had been up to and gathered excitedly around him. A grin crossed his Orkish face. Deze boyz were da future of da Dark Angelz. Doze dat proved demselves wud, like 'im, be administ'd wiv ginseed and progloid lands and take dere rightful place in da Inna Circul. But dat woz a long wayz off. For now, dey jus needed ta know wot it meant to be one ov da Dark Angelz - an' wot betta example dan da exploits of da Boss? A hush had come over the youths as they waited for Ozmodii to start. It wud not be long before dey started ta outgrow such disciplin!

"Dis story begins on one ov Morgrim's hunts for da Fall'n and more ginseed an' progloid lands for da Dark Angelz. Da hunt 'ad bin unsuccessful so far, an' morale woz low, when da forward scoutz reported fishboyz an' panzees in da area. See'in an opportunity ta raise morale, as well as vent some frustration, Morgrim ordered 'is small force full speed forward for sum fun. Who knew, one ov da survivas might even know where ta find da Fall'n! Unknown ta Morgrim at da time, it woz a trap - da fishboyz an' panzees were ready for 'im an' 'is boyz - an' 'is tempa woz about ta be sorely tested..."

"So - wot did we learn?" The youths looked about uneasily. Ozmodii chuckled. "Da Dark Angelz never lose a battle, If we win we win, if we die we die fightin so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!" The youths brightened up immediately. Ozmodii continued. "Morgrim looks out for 'iz Boyz, Da Dark Angelz look out for each uvver - an neither shuns a fight! Any questions?". One youth tentatively raised his hand, "Did 'e... Did 'e go back for annuvver go?". Ozmodii chuckled again. "Ov course! An woz 'e eva furious! But dat's annuvver story..."

    31/12/2010
"Tell us when da Boss 'ad annuvver go!" the Ork youths chanted. "Or right, Or right!" Ozmodii chuckled. "Fair enuf! Well, az ya know from da last story, whilst try'n ta raise morale, Morgrim fell inta a tricksy panzee an' fishboyz trap. 'E made a valiant effort ta salvage da situation, but woz caught off guard by da panzee dread - no doubt due ta shield'n da boyz earlia - an da Dark Angelz 'ad ta retreat. Temporarily ov course! Once da ringin' in 'is 'ead 'ad stopped, Morgrim began makin' taktikal planz ta teach da panzees an' fishboyz a lesson. Da Rav'nwing woz dispatched ta scout out da panzee an' fishboyz positions - an' when dey discovered da location ov sum pointz ov int'rest to dem, Morgrim decided reliev'n dem ov dem wud be suitable retribution - az well az givin' dem a gud kickin' in da process!"

"Da panzees an' fishboyz 'ad already secured da first point ov int'rest. Morgrim's taktiks woz ta 'it 'em on da far right flank an' drive down tawards da first point ov int'rest - kickin' da panzees an' fishboyz all da way down. Dis way, 'e hoped ta avoid da bulk of da panzee an' fishboyz firepower before 'itting dere lines..."

"Not put off by da initial inconveniences of da destruction ov two of 'iz Trukks, Morgrim ordered Skarag and Da Inna Circul ta secure da sekund point ov int'rest while 'e stubb'nly continued wiv da orig'nal taktikal plan..."

"Da plan wozn't goin' well. Wiv all 'iz mobility destroyed, Morgrim woz startin' ta get annoyed. 'E needed Snikrot's Kommandos ta show, but dere woz no sign ov 'em. Morgrim ordered 'iz Boyz ta attack da fishboyz wiv 'im. 'E wiped da fishboyz, runnin' dem down - not enuf challenge to sate i'z risin' annoyance. 'Iz Boyz were bogged down wiv da larger fishboyz. Morgrim left dem to it - 'e 'ad biggar fish ta fry!"

"Separated from 'iz boyz, Morgrim became da focal point of 'alf da fishboyz an' panzee's remainin' fire power. Da 'eavily armed fishboy in front ov 'im sailed over 'iz 'ead an' pummelled 'iz rear wiv itz fancy weaponz. Morgrim registered da pain an' let it invigorate 'im. Da uvvers tort 'e woz near 'iz end and tried ta finish 'im off. Da panzee shuriken weaponz pattered harmlessly off 'iz mega-armour. More annoyingly, da panzee Walkas almost blinded 'im wiv fire. Morgrim noted dat dey wud need ta be dealt wiv - but not before dat tricksy fishboy. Mork (or Gork) must 'ave 'eard 'iz torts - az da fishboy foolishly assaulted 'im, hopin' ta put 'im down where all deir fire power 'ad failed. Morgrim almost laffed, 'iz mega-armour deflecting da fishboyz desperate blow, 'iz Power Klaw puttin' 'im outta 'iz mis'ry. Meanwhile, 'iz Boyz 'ad finished da larger fishboyz. He yelled at dem ta secure da first point ov int'rest while he dealt with da panzees - startin' wiv dem damn Walkas - an' wonderin' where doze Kommandos 'ad got to. He trusted Skarag an' da Nobz were havin' more success wiv da sekund point ov int'rest..."

"Morgrim assaulted inta da panzee Walkas. Again, deir desperate attempts ta defend demselves pattered harmlessly off 'iz mega-armour. Morgrim proceeds to explode bofe ov dem, killin' four shuriken wield'n panzees in da process. Ov course, Morgrim iz protected by iz mega-armour..."

"But, Morgrim 'ad uvver ideas. 'E braced 'imself az da panzee Dread collided inta 'im, itz sword swingin' wildly. Two blows landed - one merely a flesh wound, d'uvver stopped by Morgrim's cybork skull plate. Morgrim's patience depleted, 'iz anga soarin', 'e sliced da panzee Dread inta three pieces before mov'in on tawards da fishboyz kommanda..."

"Morgrim, 'avin' 'ad enuff, found da fishboy kommanda in range an' assaulted inta 'im. Once again 'iz mega-armour harmlessly deflected da fishboy kommanda's attacks, once again 'e offed 'im wiv 'iz trusty Power Klaw. Skarag wozn't az lucky, bein' brought down by da panzees - but iz Nob survived an' 'eld - stoppin' dem from shootin' an' keepin' dem pinned for da Inna Circul."

"Az da battle came to a close, Morgrim woz last seen dispatchin' da panzee leada weirdboy an' battlin' da last ov da panzee forces - da fishboyz havin' bin removed from da field. Da Dark Angelz 'ad secured da vict'ry - stoppin' da panzees and da fishboyz from securin' da pointz ov int'rest an' givin' dem a gud kickin' az well. Many partz woz looted ta rebuild da Trukks and Deffkoptas, an' many panzees and' fishboyz interrogated." The Ork youths were all in an awed silence - except for one, who asked "Did dey find out about da Fall'n?". Ozmodii slapped da Ork youth heartily on his back. "Hurr Hurr - no. But dey 'ad sum fun discoverin' dat dey didn't knoze anythin'!"

    09/03/2011
Grimskab didn't understan' why Morgrim 'ad led dem back ta dis planet. Dere were no indications ov furver Green Beakies in da area, or any reason ta believe they wud return. Dere were 'umies dough. An where dere iz 'umies, dere are tanks. Grimskab suspected Skarag may 'ave bin behind it - under da cuvva ov a bit 'o R&R (Roll'in an' Wreckin') for da boyz. Grimskab's stocks o' ginseed and progloid lands were runnin' low - an it was startin' ta show... perhaps if dey caused enuf carnage, da 'umies wud be forced to request help - an den da Green Beakies might come, and dere would be ginseed an' progloid lands for all da boyz!

"Re..re...reportz in from da... da... Rav'nwing - 'umies ahead." Morgrim grinned, and bellowed over da sound ov da Trukk engines ta da rest ov 'is boyz "'umies ahead! Last one dere's a Snotling!" He turned back ta da Grot messenga, pickin' 'im up an preparing ta throw 'im back ta Skarag's Trukk - "Tell Skarag ta sen' da Rav'nwing in." "'e already 'as!" da Grot messenga replied hurriedly, 'oping ta avoid anuvver precarious flight between hurtling Trukks. "'as he den? Den you are no longa needed." Da Grot messenga noticeably sighed in relief, but only momentarily. His sigh soon turned to a scream as Morgrim hurled 'im towards Skarag's Trukk anyway. His scream was cut short by a loud thunk, and Morgrim watched wiv anuvver broad grin as Skarag's Trukk driver tried to keep control of the vehicle as it met an unexpected, bumpy, grot shaped patch.... Da boyz Nob on board, having witnessed the proceedings, ventured "You missed..." Morgrim grinned again. "Did I?"

Morgrim watched from da back ov 'is 'urtling Trukk as da Deffkoptas, who 'ad 'ad a 'ead start, moved in ta start da Ork assault. While deir Rokkits proved ineffective, deir Buzzsaws were less so - da left most stunning da left most 'umie tank while da right opened up da 'umie tank like a Grot in a meatgrinder. 'umie body pieces littered da ground. Morgim cud only make out five survivors - but dey held deir ground.

Like clockwork, da 'umies moved ta deal wiv da sudden appearance ov da Deffkoptas among deir lines - da left crashing afta be'in peppered wiv las gun shots - da right wiv da kustom blastas ov da survivas of da exploded tank. Skarag wud be busy rebuild'n dem. Sum fire made it towards Morgrim an' 'is Trukks - but it was mostly deflecta'd wiv a cackle ov energy by da invisable barria ov da Kustom Force Field. Morgrim smiled az a shot made it thru, causin Grimskab's Trukk driva ta wrestle ta maintain control of da vehicle - looks like Da Inna Circul will be da Snotlings today!

Morgrim an' Skarag's Trukks raced towards da 'umie lines before unloadin', whilst da Inna Circul, not wantin ta be missin' out due ta Trukk troubles, dismounted an' moved forward on foot. Skarag, who 'ad made it closer to da 'umie lines, took da opportunity ta try out 'iz Burna - catching da 'umie 'eavy weapons an' kustom blastas in da fire, whilst da rest o da boyz ran forward unda da powa of da Waaagh! Assault woz bluddy, Skarag's boyz cuttin' down da 'umie 'eavy weapon teams, but da 'umies facin' Morgrim's boyz fought back an' 'eld.

Da Trukk crew, 'avin deliva'd deir cargos, wotched 'az da battle unfolded. Two 'umie kans joined da field from opposite sides, but ov more interest woz one ov da 'umie tanks makin' a break for it. Az dey revved deir engines ready for pursuit, dey witnessed most ov Skarag's victorious mob cut down by mass fire - da area positively glowin' wiv sparks ov da Kustom Force Field ovawhelmed. Skarag held, only ta be charged by da wreckless 'umies - who were in turn beaten ta a pulp for deir arrogance. Meanwhile, Morgrim's boyz 'ad lost da impetus ov deir charge - an' were lucky not ta cut an' run... must 'ave been fear ov wot Morgrim wud 'ave dun ta dem later...

Grimskab an' da Inna Circul, 'aving not seen battle yet, commandeered Skarag's Trukk an' directed it towards da 'umie kan - yellin' at Skarag ta get outta da way - who 'eaded towards da 'umie commanda. De uvver Trukks gave chase ta da 'umie tank tryin' ta outmanoeuvre da Orks. Ork shooting saw da 'umie kan an' sneaky tank stunned - da tank also losin' one ov its weapons - whislt Skarag found anuvver target for 'iz Burna in da 'umie command - fellin' two before assaultin' dem. Skarag didn't survive da assault, but only da 'umie commanda survived - and da boyz Nob grinned in anticipation. Morgrim finally finished up da 'umies holdin' 'im up whilst 'iz Nob an' a boy were left ta deal wiv da 'umie runtherd.

Doze 'umie tanks dat cud move, backed away from da rampagin' Orks. Da last 'o da canned 'umies disembarked. On da right, blowin' up da nearby Trukk wiv deir kustom blastas. On da left, tryin' ta make Morgrim do da burny dance - but it merely tickled. Morgrim woz distracted by deir courage az dey charged into 'im - only managin' ta fell one. Meanwhile da boyz Nobz fell deir respective opponents, for da loss of da boyz an' da Inna Circul put sum boarding plank hurt on da 'umie kan, destroying it.

Casaulties 'ad bin high, but wiv da Inna Circul still ta see any real action, it woz basically mop up from 'ere. Da Inna Circul moved to give anuvva 'umie tank sum boarding plank pain whilst da uvver remaining Trukk tank shocked da 'umies responsible for blowin' up Morgrim's Trukk - sendin' 'em fleein'. Da lone boyz Nobz 'eaded for a 'umie tank each. Lackin' firepower, da remainin' Orks assaulted in. Da Inna Circul shook deir 'umie tank, Skarag's boyz Nob stunned de uvver 'umie tank on dat side. Morgrim ran down da 'umies holdin' 'im up and moved towards da remainin' 'umie tanks. Morgrim's boyz Nob exploded da sneaky 'umie tank on da right, killin' five ov da fleein' 'umies in da blast, 'iz broken Rokkit Pack managin' ta deflect da blast from cuttin' 'im down az well. Wiv deir forces broken, destroyed and in general dissarray, da 'umies predictably retreated.

    12/03/2011
Grimskab wotched az Morgrim paced impatiently - 'is Mega-armour clunking an' whirring. It 'ad taken a *lot* of persuadin' ta convince da Warboss *not* ta 'unt down an' destroy da 'umie survivas. But, in da end, wot Warboss cud resist a bigga fight against reinforcements? Wot Big Mek cud resist more tanks ta loot? Ov course, Grimskab 'ad 'is own motives. 'e needed ta make sure da 'umies 'ad every chance ta request Green Beakie support. Dat woz where da *real* prize woz - da ginseed an' progloid lands 'e coveted so highly... 'Is thoughts woz interrupted by da sound ov a Trukk approachin'. A boy jumped off before it 'ad even cum ta a stop an' hurried towards Morgrim. "'umie reinforcements foun' Boss!". Morgrim stopped 'is pacing. "Mount up ladz! Someone find Skarag an' make sure doze Rav'nwing are operational! Move out! NOW!"

Morgrim wotched from da back ov 'is Trukk as da left Deffkopta moved in ta assault da 'umies 'eavy weapons an' 'is Trukks raced forward ta meet da 'umie lines. It slowly dawned on 'im dat 'is ride 'ad got bumpier dan usual - an' dat da uvver Trukks were leavin' 'im behind. "Oi! Wotz goin' on?"

Grimskab, see'n dat Morgrim's ride woz 'avin sum trouble (an 'opin da blame might land on Skarag) - decided it woz up to 'im ta orchestrate da battle. 'E wotched az da 'umies dug in ta put ot az much fire az possible. Only da 'umie Kanz moved towards da Ork Trukks. Soon enuf, da sound of incoming fire an' da cackle ov da Kustom Force Field filled da air. He grinned az da left Deffkopta exploded amongst da trees - more work for Skarag. It woz short lived, 'owever, az a stray bullet made it through da Kustom Force Field an 'iz Trukk disappeared beneath 'im. He wouldn't 'ave put it past Skarag to 'ave turned it off ta spite 'im - an' take all da glory.

Afta thump'in da driva - which didn' solve 'iz Trukk mobility issue, but did make 'im feel betta, he ordered 'iz boyz out an' through da ruins dat 'ad challenged 'iz Trukk. From 'ere 'e cud see dat da Inna Circul 'ad also, more explosively, lost deir ride, an' woz 'eaded towards da closest 'umies - da 'umie kanz. It looked like Skarag wud take all da glory, az 'iz still mobile Trukk dumped 'im and 'iz boyz in front ov da 'umie lines. Reluctantly, Morgrim called da Waaagh! so dat da Inna Circul might 'av a chance ta krump da 'umie kanz. Both Morgrim an' da Inna Circul ran ta get closa ta da 'umies, while Skarag once again foun' a use for 'iz burna. Da right Deffkopta even managed ta immobilise da right 'umie tank! Morgrim cud only wotch on wiv jealousy az da Inna Circul barely managed ta assault one ov da 'umie kanz, wreckin' it, while Skarag an' 'iz boyz 'ad all da fun choppin' up 'umies.

Da 'umies shuffled aroun' a bit - da remainin' 'umie kan backin' away from da Inna Circul, a 'umie tank immobilisin' itself tryin' ta enta da forest an' 'umies disembarkin' deir tank. Morgrim 'oped dat Skarag's Kustom Force Field might 'old up till 'e got dere - but it woz not to be. Between all da 'umie firepowa an' flamers, da Kustom Force Field short circuited an' Skarag an' iz boyz were cut down where dey stood.

Morgrim bellowed for Skarag's Trukk - Skarag wouldn't be needin' it anymore - an' mounted up wiv 'iz boyz. From 'ere 'e cud see da Inna Circul makin' itz way towards da 'umie kommanda an' da right Deffkopta move in ta deal wiv da 'umie armour. Wiv a loud explosion, da Deffkopta took care ov da 'umie armour, resultin' in a couple og 'umie deaths. Not ta be outdone, Morgrim ordered 'iz boyz ta fire on da exposed 'umie komanda alongside da Inna Circul, who were lucky enough to be close enuf ta play wiv dem afterwards.

Reduced in numba, da 'umies were not ready ta giv up yet. A hail o fire took out da remainin' Deffkopta and caused considerable damage ta Skarag's (now Morgrim's) Trukk. Morgrim groaned - it just wasn't 'iz day today... Meanwhile da last 'umies on da ground tried ta roast da Inna Circul with minimal success before bravely attemptin' an assault wiv even less. Stupid 'umies.

"Right you lot! Get OUT!" Morgrim bellowed as 'e disembarked anuvver useless Trukk. 'E woz gonna 'ave ta 'ave a word wiv Skarag about dis afta - well, afta Grimskab 'ad attended to 'im. Da Inna Circul 'ad da whole left flank - da last 'umie Kan an' two 'umie tanks whilst Morgrim an' 'iz boyz 'ad ta console demselves wiv da only 'umie armour da Nobz couldn't reach. Da battlefield resounded wiv da explosion ov one ov da tanks, whilst da uvver two were wrecked, spillin' more 'umies - da onez closest ta Morgrim daze an' confused...

In a final attempt, da left most 'umies attempted ta break Morgrim's boyz but failed. Da Inna Circul finished off da last 'umie kan an' once again, da 'umies retreated.

"Objektivs?! Wotz yuze mean we missed da objektivs? Da 'umies woz da objektivs!". Grimskab whispered in Morgrim's ear, an' then, attuned to the clanks and whirs ov 'is mega-armour, dodged da side swipe aimed 'is way. "We nos interested in da 'umie's objektivs!"

    17/03/2011
Grimskab woz... nervous. Yes, dat woz it, nervous. It woz a new feelin' for 'im. Kinda like just before da Boss or sum Nob decided 'is bioniks weren't functioning prop'ly an woz about ta demonstrate on Grimskab's 'ead. 'E 'ad convinced Morgrim ta let da 'umies run again so 'as dey could lead dem to anuvver lot da beat up. Ov course, Grimskab 'oped dey might call on da Green Beakies for assistance - dey were da source ov da ginseed an' progloid lands dey desp'rately needed - but wiv each attack, da chance ov stirring da 'umie beast ta action increased. Az da repaired Trukks an' Deffkoptas roared towards da next 'umie sightin', Grimskab couldn't help but wonder if dis time da 'umies may have laid a trap...

"Why we stoppin'?" Morgrim bellowed from 'is Trukk across ta Skarag's. "Jus' checkin' sumfing out..." Morgrim clenched 'is fists impatiently, putting fresh dents in da Trukk railings. Skarag, who 'ad disembarked, done 'is checkin' and den re-embarked, called back "'Umie gun cache! Anuvver up ahead, an' da Deffcopta scoutin' your side 'as seen one too!". Morgrim began ta scratch 'is 'ead an' den thought better of it - no need ta repeat *dat* incident again. Sumfing wozn't right, but 'e couldn't quite put 'is Power Klaw on it...

Morgrim 'eard a whistling sound before two large explosions detonated nearby. As Morgrim woz about ta raise 'is concern wiv Skarag, Skarag's Trukk took a hit, wreckin' it amongst ta rocks it 'ad stopped in. Morgrim barely 'ad time ta see da returnin' right Deffkopta explode before 'is own Trukk disappeared beneath 'im. Skarag's Kustom Force Field cackled all about, but woz seemin' ta 'ave little effect as boyz from Skarag's mob were whittled down even amongst da rocks, and da Inna Circul's Trukk was forced ta keep deir 'eadz down. Da explosions an' fire helped sharpen Morgrim's mind 'as he finally realised - it woz a trap!

Clear wot needed ta be dun, Morgrim bellowed to 'is boyz "Right you lot - wiv me! We 'ave sum 'umie krumpin' ta do..." an' 'eaded towards da 'umie lines unda cuvva ov anuvver set o ruins. Meanwhile, Skarag eyed off ta 'umie kan - mek thoughts already runnin' rampart thru 'is 'ead. Howeva, da boyz were 'avin trouble negotiatin' da rokky outcrop, an' wiv da previous casualties, an' da open killin' zone in front o dem, decided ta keep ta da cuvva ov da roks. If da 'umies wanted deir gun caches back, dey wud 'ave ta pry dem from 'is ded 'andz! Two sets of boyz opened up on da two 'umie Kans, stunnin' bofe ov dem. Meanwhile a stray shell hit a 'umie tank track, temporarily stunnin' it.

Morgrim sniggered as da 'umies took da bait, da bulk o deir available firepower directed at 'im an' 'is boyz - da most immediate threat. Leadin' from da front, Morgrim laughed as da bulk ov doze shots dat actually 'it glanced impotently off 'is Mega-armour. A single shot got through, strengthenin' 'is resolve, whilst one ov da boyz stuck 'is 'ead outta cuvva a little too far. Meanwhile, on da uvva side o da field, Skarag grimaced 'as da sekund Deffkopta woz shot down an' crashed. Da Kustom Force Field flickered 'as more fire attempted ta dislodge da Inna Circul from deir Trukk, but in da end, only da Gunna fell ta a lucky shot.

Morgrim signalled to 'is boyz Nob ta take da 'umie kan whilst 'e 'eaded towards da clump o 'umies in front ov 'im. Da Inna Circul, havin' got deir Trukk back unda control, moved forward ta boardin' plank da uvva 'umie kan. Skarag's boyz started ta move back ta cuvva da 'umie objektivs. Wiv a loud yell, Morgrim called da Waaagh! an' 'e an' is boyz ran towards deir prospectiv targets before engagin' dem in assault. Da Inna Circul an' Morgrim's boyz Nob took care ov deir prospectiv 'umie kans, whilst Morgrim cut a swath through da Guard before bein' swamped by dem - da 'umie kommanda makin' sure dey wud not run in da face ov Morgrim's wrath.

Skarag wotched from da safety ov da rokky outcroppin' 'as da 'umies moved ta surround Morgrim an' 'is boyz. A lone 'umie tank moved ta intercept da Inna Circul. Now shootin' at point blank range, Skarag ducked as da Inna Circul Trukk exploded. On da uvva side o da battle, Morgrim's boyz were cut down, even amongst ta cuvva o da ruins - da Nob forced ta make a taktikal retreat. Only Morgrim now stood between 'im an da whole 'umie force. 'e smiked as Morgrim caught anuvva 'umie wiv da back ov 'is Power Klaw.

Skarag directed 'is boyz ta move furva back amongst da roks, tawards da 'umie objektivs. 'e wud guard dem wiv 'is life! 'E an' 'is boyz got komfortable, waitin' ta wotch da Inna Circul exact bluddy revenge on da 'umies for blowin' up deir Trukk. Dey didn' 'ave ta wait long as da Inna Circul assaulted da 'umie tank an' kommand - destroyin' dem all an' continuin' on wiv deir eyez on da 'umie big gunz in da treez... Meanwhile, despite 'is best effortz, Morgrim woz still thumpin' 'umie 'eadz together...

Skarag wotched as da 'umies, 'avin' mostly dealt wiv Morgrim's distraction, started ta move in on 'is position. A 'umie tank broke off from da right, 'eaded 'is way, cuvverin' it's movement wiv smoke, whilst da 'umies ov da uvver disembarked an' secured da 'umie gun cache on da right. Skarag sighed 'at da loss. Da 'umies dat da Inna Circul 'ad disembarked also moved towards 'is position, but like most ov da rest ov dem, concentrated deir fire on da Nobz. Skarag woz impressed dat dey managed ta fell two - tho 'e noted dat dey missed Grimskab... Meanwhile, Morgrim finally asserted 'is authority on da 'umies bovverin' 'im, deir Kommanda unable ta keep'em inline, even after shootin' an' officer - Morgrim relished runnin' dem down before movin' ta restore orda ta da right flank all by 'imself...

Free ov da 'umies at last, Morgrim woz able ta reassess da situation. Skarag an' 'is boyz were movin' deeper inta da rokky outcrop aroun' deir Trukk wreck an da 'umie gun caches - typical Mek. Da Inna Circul woz preparin' ta clean up da 'umie big gunz. Morgrim eyed da 'umie tank makin' a break for Skarag's position an' legged it ova dere to giv it a gud thumpin. 'E cud just make out da 'umie screams from da forest as da Inna Circul did wot da Inna Circul does best. Da 'umie tank woz movin' fast - Morgrim, frustrated, only managed ta clip it on it's way through, shakin' it.

"Oi! Get bak 'ere ya coward!" Morgrim bellowed as da 'umie tank continued past 'im, da 'umie objektivs an' Skarag in it's sights. Anuvva lot o 'umies were also descendin' on Skarag's position, usin' da wreckage of da Inna Circul's Trukk for cuvva. De uvva 'umie tanks cud be 'eard backin' away from da action - keepin' deir distance from da Nobz, deir gunz aimed at dem - an' managin' ta down two more. Morgrim ignored da wall explodin' next ta 'im, 'is sights set on dat tricksy 'umie tank fleein' 'im.

Skarag, aware ov da 'umies approachin' from da Nobz Trukk wreckage, left 'is boyz in control ov da 'umie objektivs whilst 'e went ta deal wiv dem. Morgrim gave chase ta da 'umie tank. As per most ov da battle, Skarag's boyz and Morgrim were unable ta find a chink in da 'umie tank armour - but Skarag 'ad more lucky exacting burny revenge on da 'umies in da Nobz Trukk wreckage. Orda'ed ta remain in kontrol ov da 'umie objectivs, Skarag's boyz looked on as Morgrim just managed ta catch da 'umie tank - but woz unable ta land a blow on da fast movin' target...

  • FAQ
    Q. If I'm a Dark Angels player and/or fan, should I be insulted or flattered?
    A. Flattered, or I'll equally accept bemused. Da Dark Angelz are not meant to be an insult to Dark Angels. I used to play Dark Angels myself!

    Q. Do you use ork rules or DA rules or a combination of both?
    A. Da Dark Angelz most definitely use Ork rules - they only *think* they are Dark Angels - and then it's only the upper echelons that have been administered "ginseed and progloid lands" by the Painboy - and even then it varies as the Ork metabolism breaks it down overtime so that they need a constant supply... (I guess you could more simply call it an Ork warband with a Dark Angels - rather than Goff, Badmoon etc - theme)

    Q. Are you planning on doing the entire dark angels thing and have about 1000 models ?
    A. I think "da plan" goes something like this. 1) Get to 1850-2000pts, including key theme units. 2) Fill out the FOC. 3) Look into Spearhead/Apocalypse formations 4) Entire Dark Angels company. I figure I can afford to slow down () once I get to 2 - but I wouldn't see why I would stop building - other than running out of ideas... I'll try to hold off a second army until 1 is complete too... (managing to hold off Dark Eldar while I wait for the 2nd wave of models...) Oh - and not to mention all the FW goodness and some more lavish ideas...

    Q. Are you gonna do devasta flash gits or lootas?
    A. Initially Lootas. I think Flash Gitz will be a long time coming... (maybe a new Codex might drop by then and inspire me )

    ALTERNATORKS
A number of alternative Ork/Marine hybrids have turned up during the journey so far:

NakedBatBoy wrote:I'm always in support of using fallen foes as decoration/shields. Your shield is no exception. I agree that presently it looks a bit off, but I also think you did a great job of making the termie the right size for the shield.

Some suggestions though - that you could try out, and see if they actually help or not - would be:
    1) take off the headcover/scope - I really think it is just a little too high. Would be better IMO to make it look like Morgrim is glaring over the top of the shield as he charges forward, and I think that would be easier to pull off if there were a bit less things obscuring his face from that view. (Though of course I only have the two pictures to work off - maybe he can see just fine over it! )
    2) My guess as to why is seems off, is that his shoulderpad is turned weird. It seems to me like it should be more to the side, seems like it's currently pulled too far onto his chest, makes the anatomy look a bit off. Another idea to maybe balance this out would be to see what it looks like if you have it with the other shoulderpad as well?

But yeah, I don't think it's over the top at all. Orks are all about that! With some weathering (and cutting off that damn sideways feather think on his shoulder pad) and some evident screws or ropes binding him to the shield, I think it will turn out great.

Also, awesome pose for Morgrim. Very powerful!
I completely missed this before! Thanks for your input!

NakedBatBoy wrote:I assume you'll be adding them, but just to make sure, I recommend adding some more fixinz and boltz to the arms. As they are they are a bit too clean looking now.

Awesome pose and shape to the arms though. He's looking very much like said "warmachine".. Maybe you could make the shootaz even a bit bigger looking with some attachments?
Yes, will be adding to them. Will think about "attachments"...

prototype_X wrote:hehehe a bolt THROUGH shoota and the arm like da mek has just shoved it through ta hold der fing on.
    Might be hard to see...

moonshine wrote:I think it would look better if they were being held like pistols. the drum one dose look a bit odd but nice work.
    Noted. Still WIP...

Eckeon wrote:Morgrim may look busy now but ive seen finished stuff that looks busier than that.

With a drum feed and to keep it from being held why not undersling em, then if you wanted to belt feed it would look better too maybe
Underslung is always an option - but I'm still thinking about trying to keep them top mounted for now...

monkeytroll wrote:I like the drum-fed shoota, once the iron sight and part of the barrel guard have been cut away it's fine.

Iron sight - yes - but the barrel guard as well? Great idea on the nob slugga idea - will look into! Going to see if I can't use some combination of shoulder pads and plasticard to create metal gauntlets similar to the actual Meganob model gauntlets...

Well that's a post and a half! Awesome compilation of your history. It's quite impressive. Great job on all those wins too. I need to get better at actually playing with my ork boyz.

Check out my Project (B)log! I would love any suggestion or comments you may have.

    Holy giant updates Batman!

Very well put together, excellent and informative job

With regard to the barrel guard, it's just the very end, the little tongue that juts out past the main body. Granted I don't remove it all the time, just another touch that can help remove the upside-down stigmata I should have some lying about I'll try and grab a pic later

Wow, epic summary. Fantastic MANZ! It's wonderful to be able to look through everything at once like that, thank. It will take me another few sessions to finish reading it all though.

... how long did it take you to put all that together? The post I mean.

    Amazing modeling, as always.

Splendid work, nice to see everything together like this!

Camkhieri: "And another very cool thing, my phones predictive text actually gave me chicken as an option after typing robot, how cool is that."'

Meercat: "All eyes turned to the horizon and beheld, in lonely and menacing grandeur, the silhouette of a single Grot robot chicken; a portent of evil days to come."

    @Everyone: Thanks!

@bigfish: Immediate plans are to get Morgrim, 4 MANZ, Artsoldier35's Trukk, Snikrot and some Kommandos to "playable" state before Platinum Devil 3 on May 7th & 8th. I will probably focus on painting then until Partick Crucible on the 28th May. After that I think I need to concentrate on my Great Marine Swaps and painting what I have - though I may aim to get the above basecoated for against endtransmission at Warhammer World on July 2nd and 3rd... From there, who knows. There are plenty of ideas in the summary - it's choosing which to do first that's difficult! Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't between Lootas, Warbikers and a Looted Wagon... Oh, and a "Sekrit Projekt" - very hush hush.

@monkeytroll: Cool. I'll just hang around and wait for pics

@Matt.Kingsley: Faster than reading 50 pages though...

@moonshine: Which is why I think I might start trying to do these every 10 pages...

@whalemusic360, The Good Green: I think snake's summary of the summary is pretty close:

Wow! talk about major update! by the way, i looted the warmachine idea (along with the space marine orks idea) and made an ork in "Taktikal Deff Dred Armor"! i need to post pics once i get him to the base.
also, i looted the basic idea of an ork with an engine block hammer and a big shield. not as cool as your, though.

Arakasi, that is a superb snapshot. You must be very proud of your achievements. Some of the creativity and execution in your stuff is really top-level (well thats my opinion anyway).

Though if you're like me you're probably itching to start the next conversion project soon...

I've said it many times before but being spanked in CC by Orks is so much more palatable when there is some thought behind their construction...
