Da Dark Angelz vs El Quixo, 1250pts, Flank Attack! (Pic heavy)

Morgrim scanned da field. Da painboy 'ad sed dere woz da Dark Green beakies in da system - an Grimskab woz usually, unnervingly, right. Forward reconnaissance had located points 'o interest dat might lead to dere location as well as a fishboy contingent including a numba of tanks in da area. Morgrim chuckled to himself as he considered da trap he 'ad prepared for da fishboyz. While his main boyz advanced, Snikrot would attempt to sneak behind and take dem from da rear, cutting dem off from retreat and ensuring none escape. Snikrot had suggested flanking with a Trukk or two as well, but Morgrim didn't trust da boyz not ta get distracted, and anywayz - dat sounded like panzy taktiks!

MISSION/DEPLOYMENT: Flank Attack (Battle Missions, Orks as Eldar)

PRELUDE

Morgrim drives on in standard taktikal formation. Skarag takes a moment to check out one of da points of interest - it isn't...

Across the field, however, Morgrim spies a juicy target. Oh, and another point of interest too...

Morgrim noted da third point 'o interest to the left. He would have to rememba dat. Although, in his experience, objectives did not move and dere would be plenty 'o time later to go check it out, dere was da fishboyz tankz and a contingent of Kroot in da area and unaccounted for...

Morgrim signals da Rav'nwing to advance on da enemy...  without any larger targets, they scout ahead, ready to tie up some of da fishboyz firepower.

TURN 1

Da boyz put dere feet to da floor and go flat out into the middle of da field, while da Rav'nwing move in t tie up da fishboyz firepower...

Rav'nwing I fires on the Kroot shield, while Rav'nwing II goes after the right Crisis Suits. Morgrim watches in resignation as da Rav'nwing screwed up da taktikal plan he 'ad beat inta dere 'eadz da night before - as da Kroot stop Rav'nwing II from assaulting da Crisis Suits...

Taktikal error: I had planned, in assaulting the Kroot, to draw them away from blocking my assault on the Crisis Suits. However, as troy_tempest correctly pointed out, all defender moves occur *after* attacker moves. In hindsight, both should have shot and assaulted the Kroot...

... resulting in Rav'nwing I downed in combat before he could even strike. Morgrim made a mental note dat Rav'nwing II would get what's coming to them - via fishboyz gunz, or Morgrim's fist - if dey survived dat long...

Morgrim watches with amusement as da fishboyz attempt to stop da incoming boyz. Don't dey realise we are already in range? The sky glitters with the deflection of plasma missiles off of the KFF - however, two get through, stunning da Inna Circul's ride and kerrunching Skarag's. Morgrim notes Rav'nwing II's incompetence is rewarded...

... and the remaining Deffkopta flees.

TURN 2

Snikrot appears early and advances on da fishboyz flank. Da Inna Circul disembark their stunned ride to advance on da fishboyz along with the now Trukkless Skarag and boy. Morgrim kept his Trukk central, still aware of the far left objective and that there were yet unseen fishboy skimmas and Kroot in da area. He notes Rav'nwing II's enthusiasm to rejoin the fray.

Three burnas and numerous shootas and sluggas attempt to remove the Kroot screening da juicy suits for da Inna Circul, but are only mostly effective - da fishboy kommanda and bodyguard will survive the initial charge unscathed as da Kroot hold despite overwhelming casualties...

The assault begins...

…and ends just as quickly. Da boyz spread out, ready for the inevitable counter attack.

Morgrim is happy to see all of da fishboyz reserves roll on - finally da battle can be truly joined! It doesn't occur to his Orky mind that standing in the way of two 'ammerheadz and a Pirhana may be bad for 'is health...

Da fishboy counter attack is brutal, cutting down Skarag's mob and da Kommandos with flamers and pulse rifles respectively, but thanks to Skarag's KFF, Morgrim's Trukk is invincible - ensuring Morgrim and 'is boy can execute dere taktikal counterattack!

Down to Skarag and a Nob, Skarag decides he has a better place to be. The Nob attempts to maintain disciplin, but 'is own morale breaks as he whacks Skarag just a little too hard… The Kommandos maintain poise under so much fire though.

Doze tricky suits move on - somefin will need ta be dun 'bout deem!

In anger, Morgrim swats the Pirhana for its insolence!

TURN 3

Get'em ladz!

His forces running thin, Morgrim considers da best course of action and decides to split off from his boyz to personally deal with da 'ammerheadz - Leaving da Nob explicit instructions to go thump da fishboy kommanda and his suit bodyguard. Da Inna Circul in turn move to deal with da lessa fishboyz and da tank dat appeared near dem, while their Trukk made an unsuccessful Tank Shokk against da Kroot reinforcements.

Morgrim's boyz put a few wounds on da Crisis Suits and drones, but otherwise, fairly typical (ineffective) ork shooting ensued...

…followed by predictable assaults…

…with unpredictable results… Morgrim immobilised and stunned a 'hammerhead, while his boyz finished off da suits, but da Inna Circul were over confident and only managed to shake da Ionhead and account for ONE fishboy (18 attacks requiring 3s and I roll 16 1s and 2s… - should have taken a picture!)

Pesky Ionhead decides against playing further with da Inna Circul and goes sits on da objective, while da mobile 'ammahead moves to take shots at da boyz, ignoring Morgrim. Morgrim mentally notes dat it will pay for its insolence - just as sons as he's finished wiv da uvver one...

Some of da boyz fall to da 'ammahead blast, while da Kroot fail ta make an impression on da Nobz Trukk. Da Inna Circul recova from tripping over themselves and easily account for da fishboyz in assault, while Morgrim finishes da first 'ammahead, ready to move on ta da second...

TURN 4

From here it was just cleanup. Morgrim 'eaded ova to da second 'ammerhead, da boyz and kommandos mounted up and da Inna Circul chased da Ionhead ova to da objective.

Morgrim and da Inna Circul assault and destroy dere respektiv 'ammerheadz...

… da objective is within da boy grasp!

Da Kroot, in a bold move, shoot and assault Rav'nwing II, putting him out ov 'is misery before Morgim can get to 'im...

TURN 5

Da boyz take da objektiv and pour firepower (a burna, 8 shootas, 5 sluggas, 2 big shootas) into da Kroot, denying da Inna Circul another assault

Victory for da boyz!

VICTORY: ORKS (TAU ANNIHILATED!)

AFTERMATH
Morgrim surveyed da field - fishboy and Kroot bodies and wreckage littered the area. Not bad. He was impressed with da Rav'nwingz ability to scare da fishboyz into reserving dere tanks, even if dey made an early taktikal blunder. He would not need to punish dem for dat - da fishboyz managing to make dem pay for dere mistakes… A propa assault on da screening Kroot wiv both Rav'nwing probably would have meant a combined charge into both units of suits and Fire Warriors, which would in turn probably have saved Skarag's mob and da Kommandos from some nasty return fire…

Great battle report. The play-by-play screens with the info was great. And the Ork narrative... Ha!

Nice battle. Always interesting to see the effect the kopta-strike has on people's play.

I love to see it when kommando's mount up It's so awesome!

Because they are Da Dark Angelz. Those aren't doing any justice to those minis.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

You need to compare earlier games - it will make you feel better:
Skarag Mekslag and da Pain Boy'z Errand - Part I (Ork vs Tau, 500pts)
Skarag Mekslag and da Pain Boy'z Errand - Part II (Ork vs Tau, 500pts)

The games get more challenging with each one It seems you are always fielding something different!
