Skarag was not inna good mood. Da Pain Boy 'ad got it inta 'is 'ead (after reviewing da loot from da last time dey raided dis miserable planet) dat dere may be sumthin worth retrievin for... Skarag scratched 'is head - nup - couldn't rememba. It wouldn't 'ave bin a problem if da Pain Boy didn't 'ave da ear of da Warboss. Skarag was no retriever squig! But den again, he wasn't no Warboss either... And so 'ere he woz with 'is ladz, trying to find somethin or other. At least da last time he was sent out it was ta ambush sum 'umies woz thought dey would be allies - da very thought cheered him up some! Skarag secretly hoped ta bump inta da Tau boyz - dere weaponz would be much more interestin an useful den anything da Pain Boy could come up with...
Two of da ladz came hurrying up to Skarag. "We've found wot da Pain Boy woz lookin for", said one, gesturing vaguely to da left - "its over dere in that clearin". Skarag grimaced, no battle or loot then. "Da Deffkopta boyz have sited da Tau - dere across da way, and seem to be protecting somethin..." said da uvver one. Skarag smiled - da day woz lookin up! "Right you lot! Mount up - I wanna see wot doze Tau are protecting!". "What about da Pain Boy stuff?" "Sod that, we can come back for that later!"

MISSION & DEPLOYMENT: Capture & Control, Pitched Battle
PRELUDE
Orks win first turn. Ork objective is in the clear, bottom right. Tau objective is in a crater, top left. Deffkoptas deploy bottom left behind a building. Trukks deploy centre - da Big Mek's ride on the left. Tau deploy Crisis Suits top left (2 left of the crater with the objective, 2 on top of it) and centre, behind Fire Warriors, behind a ruin. Other Fire Warriors are deployed right in a forest and the Commander is held in reserve (Deepstriking). Da Deffkoptas scout move ahead, ready to move/shoot/assault the Crisis Suits outside of the crater. The Tau fail to seize the initiative.
TURN 1
Da Deffkoptas move, shoot and kill one Crisis Suit and watch the other flee off the board. Da Trukks move up to a central position amongst (but not in) difficult terrain, behind the ruins the centre Fire Warriors and Crisis Suits are deployed behind. Da Trukk big shootas attempt to cause some additional casualties but miss completely (this was to be a recurring theme across two battles...)
Top right Fire Warriors, seeing the undefended Ork objective, leave the trees and make a run for it. Two remaining units of Crisis Suits and centre Fire Warriors succeed in wiping out da Deffkoptas.

TURN 2
Da Trukks split up. Da Big Mek heads towards da Tau objective, obviously interested in what the Tau might have, and saves his Burna for the ensuing combat... which never materialises (da Shoota Boyz managed to bring down a Crisis Suit with fire and the other joined his mate fleeing the table...) Da Nob led Trukk unloads in front of the Fire Warriors making a break for the Ork objective, shoots, assaults and runs down da Tau for few (if any) casualties. Dey regroup back at da Trukk, ready to re-embark / use cover.
Ignoring da Big Mek and his boyz, the remaining two Crisis Suits and Fire Warriors flame / rapid fire the Nob led Shoota Boyz. The Tau Commander deepstrikes behind them, though not accurately enough to be in Flamer range, and instead gives them a lesson in fragmentation launchers. The boyz are cut down to 4, and then 3 as the Nob restores disciplin! The Crisis Suits assault, but the now irritated Nob gives them the Powerklaw, wiping them. He consolidates his remaining two boyz away from the remaining Fire Warriors towards the Tau Commander and the Ork objective...

TURN 3
In difficult terrain, and less than impressed with what the Tau had been protecting, da Big Mek considers whether to mount up or run - and decides on the latter as it at least has a chance of him seeing combat this turn (and he can always come back to investigate later). He heads towards the last Fire Warriors squad. A Trukk tank shocks them as well to no effect (not to mention continued misses from da big shootas). The Nob and two boyz advance on the Tau Commander. A Waaagh! sees both units in assault, da Big Mek's boyz cutting down the fleeing Fire Warriors for the loss of one or two, and the Nob exacting revenge for his fallen boyz by finishing off the Tau Commander.
