Will do!

Right, for your viewing pleasure (and comments and suggestions) - WIP Paint! Just a random selection of three of the thirteen models I am currently painting... These are getting precariously close to finished - yay!

Thanks! I am looking forward to the day they line up all painted against your Tau...

I've put more effort into the highlighting this time around - so its good to see it noticed! The red in particular I am very happy with. The green and black - well it ended up a little heavy handed. Still - its amazing what a wash will do to dampen that down, and I'm happy with the results. Devlan Mud on the Ork skin also made them more gritty, as well as taking the "glow" off the tattoos - unlike the clean cut boyz I did first. Another layer of Badab Black on the clothing made sure you can still distinguish where the green clothing ends and the green Ork begins.

Some of the highlights are a bit off - but I will correct that with the next batch. Still have to highlight the weapons, do the bone, add some weapon damage, rust etc... I'll see how I go tonight, maybe post up some more random pics.

Yes - I changed it some time ago. I wanted to try to avoid that line of thinking. Da Dark Angelz are very serious - well, as serious as Orks can get, being all taktikal and all - and are likely to consider being called dorks an insult worthy of a serious krump'in. Of course, they are also likely to take your *existence* as an insult worthy of a serious krump'in, and probably don't know what a dork is, so it probably doesn't matter. You should simply just expect a krump'in...

More WIP...

The ever photogenic warbiker (now with metal highlights and wear and tear... not sure if this is actually obvious or not from the photo...)

It's all coming together nicely. My one comment is to drill out (or paint) the gun barrels, especially this guy.
Also, why hasn't the curved tip of the bayonet been melted? It looks to be in line of fire form the lower barrel

He is one of two of the last models from my first batch - before I started drilling the barrels. Definately he will get a black dot there, not sure if it is worth drilling at this stage...

Why has the curved tip not melted? You do realise Orks are only BS 2 right? He hasn't hit it yet!

BS2 doesn't mean that the melta fires sideways out of the barrel though. But hey, if an Ork believes... it is so!

Its not a melta weapon...Its just a slugga, plus the lower barrel could just be there to make it look shootier. To show off!!

But the biker looks so good... Keep it up, and get some paint on their rides

The day Orks get melta weapons - well, you won't like it!

Imperial Monkey wrote:But the biker looks so good... Keep it up, and get some paint on their rides

Thanks! I want to finish the shoota boyz mob (so another 2 or 3 shootas), and I was thinking about doing one of the trukks as well, but trying to avoid doing both at the same time... I might have to though (believe me, I *want* to get *everything* finished!) - it shouldn't be quite as bad as doing 13 models at once (but not quite as nice as 5...) Anyone have any preferences for what's next? (to be painted/completed from existing models)

Yes - he is also vying for attention. His one saving grace is that I am still learning/improving - he can wait until I am happier with the process, as he obviously deserves my best effort!

And now, for your viewing pleasure, tonight's random updates:

Shoota (WIP)

'Ard Boy Shoota (WIP)

Gaming tomorrow night, so there won't be any more *painting* updates until at least the weekend. Should be two more battle reports though

I am loving this blog very much! The painting is very clean as is the highlighting great although I think you could use some devlan mud here and there *wink*. I use devlan mud on metal everywhere unless it's a place where paint has been clearly chipped off. The idea of orks immitating SM is very amusing and the conversion work is very fit into the theme.

Keep up the good work!

Orks - REPAINTED into Ice world orks DA BLOO TIDE WAAAAGH! - around 2k pts.

CSM - Nurgle - - around 700 pts.

If you are talking about my earlier models - I totally agree! They basically had a single Badab Black wash over the clothing/armour/skin before highlighting the skin up. The latest WIP have more washes than they probably needed! After the base coat, they also had a Badab Black wash - though this time all over. I've then highlighted the skin, clothing/armour and guns (red and metal) before washing the skin with Devlan Mud and the clothing/armour with Badab Black again. However, I've only recently added and highlighted the chips - I still need to wash the chips and metal areas - and I do plan on using Devlan Mud for a more "rusted" feeling.... (and possibly some Badab Black too...) - I take it that was what you had in mind? We'll see how it goes. I think for my next batch I'll try doing all of the highlighting work and put the wash on last, hopefully to remove the earlier wash step...

Thanks!

Right - added another wash of Devlan Mud to the metal areas. Cleaned up the bases. Added grass. Varnished and... ran out of varnish!

Still - 12 of the 13 I have been painting are now finished - with one just waiting on varnish. Will try to post pictures tomorrow night as they are currently blu-tacked to paint pots waiting for the varnish to dry...

Will post pics of my other 12 shoota boyz so that you can help me pick which 3 should get completed in my next batch along with their ride for an actually fully completed unit...

Have a battle report to write up (this time with pics!) from last Thursday too

Thanks for reading and suggesting!
