Ignoring the rabble, let us continue!

So far the only decision I have made about the red is that I prefer the deeper tone with the wash - so I have washed everything except the Big Mek (he'll get his later...) Below you can see the difference (again) - the left Nob has been washed, the right - not yet:

Everything looks just great Arakasi! That old jalopy gets some dark green on it and it'll be spiff!

Different view of the Stormboyz Nobz. Both with Baal Red washes and metal washed in Badab Black. Probably the clearest shot of the Power Klaws too - though I am seriously considering redoing them....

Gitsplitta wrote:That old jalopy gets some dark green on it and it'll be spiff!

Yeah - I've been putting it off pending the Warhammer World Tank Masterclass last weekend! Check out endtransmission's awesome writeup (Plug plug! Sorry Yggdrasil!)

However, your timing is impeccable - my pics from the class (with a few small annotations...)

Before:

Decals and Chipping:

More chipping (or is that the same chipping?)

Wash and rust:

Powders:

Powders continued:

More powders:

Even more powders:

Rusty tracks:

Rust and Oil stains:

I have three battle reports to write up from the weekend as well - though they may take a while. In the meantime - still have more progress from *this* week!

Enjoy!

For some reason I didn't get a good look at your hellhound at the weekend. It looks good. Somehow your mud came out much thicker and blobby than mine did. Looks much more like mud

That's pretty amazing work on that hellhound Arakasi... looks like you were paying attention in class.

Thanks! Trying to make the best of the class... endtransmission's rust and oil was done better though!

I'm on a roll today!

Some nice pics in here! I say keep the PKs, they look great IMO.

Forgeworld's masterclass seems like it was worth it; I'll be keeping an eye out for the tips and tricks they taught you

Wow, lots of updates

CK- did you see any rabble? I didn't see any rabble.

All looking very nice. What is it you're not liking about the PKs? They look pretty darn cool to me.

Like the tender shot of the 2 marines looking up at the stars too, very sweet.

So did you get a full set of brushes and powders, I don't recall seeing that on the advert. I had thought of going but decided I really couldn't justify the expense.

Sure, saw some Rabble; gitsnob running away!

I'm not sure, it just isn't completely gelling for me. I think what I might do is redo one and post pics - that way you can see what I'm thinking, and perhaps help me decide which way to go...

We got to keep (in addition to our Hellhound and its few leftover bits) the brushes (4) and powders (4) supplied - which was an unexpected bonus. Endtransmission seems to have got a jump start on me - but will try to pass on as much as I can as I use it!

CommissarKhaine wrote:On a more serious note: wish I lived in the UK so I could get into the masterclasses and stuff - making it a holiday might be a bit over the top in my wife's eyes
You know I'm still planning to pop over for a weekend once da boyz are finished to put your rabble grots in line right?

Okay - last picture update for the weekend (I've run out! - actually, that's not entirely true, I have three battles worth of pics still to do - but you'll be lucky to see'em this weekend!) Let's start with da Shoota boyz - now with all details (I think!?) done - front:

Back:

I still have metal to wash (except the guns of the two on the left)...

I have been finishing the details of the base Space Marines, as well as starting to highlight the flags on the Stormboyz Nobz. All of the white, teeth and nails has been given a Devlan Mud/Gloss Varnish wash as well (as well as the Shootas). Gitsplitta's Stormboyz Nob:

My Stormboyz Nob:

The red highlights were as per previously noted (only first two levels so far), but also mixed with Gloss Varnish for extra control Of course, I mixed too much. Of course, I couldn't waste it. So I started on da Deffkopta Rokkits and the second Trukk wheelz:

And here you can see the Shootas with their Devlan Mud/Gloss Varnish Wash on white, teeth, nails and pouches:

Right - that's all. Really!

Enjoy!

At best, I have so many Deffkoptas now I have no issue using them for parts - ie the new Trukk engines and reinforced rams. At worse - I haven't used them yet... they will be used, eventually! How is that Daemons army coming along?

Me too! I still have a back log of stuff to finish painting - but am looking forward to filling out some of the other options I've planned since, well, forever! With Gitsplitta's Stormboy Nob (as part of the Great Marine Swap) coming to a close, perhaps I can nudge my next vict... I mean trade towards one of these projects

Nah - just one of those silly phrases photographers make you say before taking the photo. I hadn't considered a gold tooth. I'll have to give it more thought - they aren't Bad Moons though....

Thanks for all the feedback/comments!

I know you didn't get a lot of consensus before, so just adding a voice supporting your choice of washes. When I looked at the three different versions in the close-ups, I was leaning toward the double-baal-red wash, but seeing the further photos I agree that it would obscure the weathering a bit too much from tabletop height. The route you chose does look the best IMO.

Thanks Mannahnin. I think it depends on how thickly I apply the highlights too - if I do it right, one wash is more than enough. If I do it too thickly, more than one wash starts looking better. I'm happy (for the moment). Who knows what the future might hold?

Well I'm starting to get the modelling itch again. I know I haven't painted everything yet but I think it's time to start expanding the force again. Anyone have any preferences on where to start?

* Meganobz (Da Deffwing)
* Lootas (Da Devastatas)
* Warbikers (Da Rav'nwing)
* Grotz + Runtherd (Chap'lin)
* Looted Wagon (Boom Gun!)
* SAG Big Mek
* Morgrim
* Stormboyz
* Kommandos + Snikrot

Still to do:
* Battle Reports x 3
* Blog Summary!
* 2011 Plan! (including "Secret" project...)

Hmmm... I thought you used to be able to add polls to blogs...

You mean that modelling itch goes away sometimes

Well, that's a tasty looking menu you're offering and whilst you figure out what happened to the polling I'll make a selection

I'm thinking a three-course meal consisting of Da Rav'nwing, da Chap'lin (bowler and 'tash?) and an SAG sounds tempting. As there's no poll in place I figure I can make multiple votes atm

OH-I Wanna get out of here

I'm voting for Deffwing because 1) Thats what I play with my DA 90% of the time and 2) It might get my laziness for move faster on the Deff Dread (which has seen a bit more paint, but trying to get Gits MW models done in next week or so)

He has a Meganob stand-in at the moment (which means I may have to do him alongside the Meganobz...) I'd been putting him off until I thought I could do him justice - but I figure if I'm not ready, its just another opportunity to push myself forward!

monkeytroll wrote:You mean that modelling itch goes away sometimes
Never! I just have to suppress it in order to get any painting done! But sometimes it will not be suppressed!

Greedy! No, really - I want to concentrate on doing justice to one (and finishing it sometime this millennium) - so pick one! (I may need to start a new thread just for the poll )

I don't have a Deff Dread on my list because of you (though I will probably add some replacement arms for all the options....)

I vote the Meganobz WITH Morgrim! I would vote for the Grotz, cause I likes dem, and also I dig the Chaplains, but I think the Meganobz would be better to do first.

I am anxious to see what you do for the kommandos though, now that I see them on your list.
