I think some interest has been shown for sci-fi movies here before so I thought I would share the new teaser for the third Riddick film. Not on youtube yet or I would embed it.

Teaser

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I was hoping they were going to follow up with him being head of an army of Necromongers.

That was always my hope too. But it would appear as if they have just combined the first two movies to make the 3rd.

Potential

Got to respect that Vin Diesel has managed to breathe new life into his two franchises (Fast and Furious being the other).

Looks really good.

I hope this is set post Pitch Black, pre-Chronicles. I don't know wtf to do with the franchise post-Chronicles.

Pre-Pitch Black would also be OK.

Can't we just pretend Chronicles never happened like they did with the second Highlander movie?

Kind of agree, only slightly.

I really like the character and I kind of liked some elements of the Chronicles movie...but for some reason they just didn't work for me.

All-in-all, Riddick has become Conan in Space for me. A great series of movies to watch on a Sunday when there is nothing better to do.

I'm back!

Potential, Riddick as a character's one of my favorite anti-Heroes.

It's post Riddick. From the wiki.

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

And it's got Karl Urban in it again.

I must be the only person on earth that thinks Highlander 2 is decent. But I last watched it 5 years ago and there were certain alcoholic drinks present...so...

Does no one else prefer the feel of the first film? Dark, gritty, more realistic sci-fi rather than the space magic* nonsense of the second film?

* I say "space magic" because I can't really think of any other way to describe it.

I liked him in Dredd and RotK. Otherwise, I've found him to be even more wooden that Kineau Reeves.

I really liked the first film and would have loved it if they had kept the same feeling for Chronicles. I hope this third film is a return to what made me like Pitch Black in the first place.

I also quite enjoyed him in Doom. But then again i am the only person i know who liked that movie so maybe its the bias speaking.

Karl Urban = 'Modest' or Lower box office return. He's also pretty bad in mainstream movies.

He gets away with it in minor roles such as LOTR and Bourne Supremacy (iirc?) but put him in a main role and you're looking at a bomb or at least something really bland like RED.

Riddick had some great ideas (sets and costumes are on the whole, gorgeous) but the action was terrible, the script completely lacking spark and the story was confusing and Riddled with holes. Plus they killed off Keith David, Keith David is ace.

That was part of what I was talking about liking the movie earlier. It certainly had the elements to be a good movie, its just they missed them somehow. Also, to be picky, I didnt like Colm Feore as the Lord Marshal. He seems too frail a person to be believable as such a supreme badass.

Although I disagree with you on Karl Urban. I think he can be a really decent - too actor if put in the right acting gig.

Yes.

Also, that sound you hear is the sounds of ten-thousand ignore buttons being clicked at once.

Waterworld is a good movie (ducks). Highlander 2? Yikes. When you get disowned by your own continuity, you're gonna have a bad time.

I always found it highly amusing that a movie whose tag-line "There can be only one" was given a sequel in the first place.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Highlander 2 Had THIS scene it. Thus it is in the movie hall of fame.

I he Doom movie. I just feel that you have to completely divorce it from Doom. It's a decent sci fi action movie on its own.

But then, I liked Battleship too.
