A latest shot of my slowly expanding Hive Fleet, now with added Termagants, which seem relatively enormous to me having painted FoW models for a bit. More pics in the gallery to any interested, thanks for looking

You did the yellow very well I think, it has some nice orange tinge to it. Do you think you can have a close up of the hive tyrant / Carnifex?

Ta very much -

The Carni (which was a test model) has Sepia wash under the green bits, but the Swarmlord and all the gants/gaunts are just Biel-Tan Green, wanted a slightly brighter look.

Looks great man. The brown bases compliment your color scheme nicely.

Same bases I've done with my last 3 40K armies, bound to look right sooner or later Thanks for the comments, Nids make a nice counterpoint to painting FoW, which is also great but a lot more drab in comparison.

Looks quite similar to Jes Bickham's scheme. I like it! Very well painted.

They certainly do In my defence, these test paint jobs I did (I think) prior to Jes' GW Nids appearing -

Though infact the green/yellow suggestion came from the manager at my local GW, I was all set on blue/red. Thanks again chaps

Yellow and green is one color combination that I have never been a fan of. You, however, have managed to make it work quite well. Good job!

Hi again - have added more Termagants and Gargoyles. Struggling to keep all the tones consistent, going to spend an hour or two going back at this point and retouching, but I think they look fairly 'huge mat of rolling spiky death' ish, which is more or less what I'm going for. Trygon or Raveners next I think. Enjoy

These are looking really, really good mate, I love the colour scheme, I'm also wondering how you did the yellow fade? Or at least a flat yellow, I want to know so I can do the shoulder pad trim for my Blood Eaters :3

The painting is great, green and yellow is a garish colour choice that's ideal for a garish race of aliens, they will stand out on the table and terrify opponents - but what I really want to know is what sci-fi prog I remember your avatar from - its driving me nuts trying to remember!

Thanks all

The yellow is 3 thin coats Averland Sunset, wash of Seraphim Sepia (left to dry so it pools in right places, usually upside down, then rewashed anywhere not dark enough), then (a bit messily on the Trygon, rushed it), Averland Sunset, then Yriel Yellow, then Flash Gitz yellow, then Flash Gitz again to brighten the edges.

12 more Hormagaunts, then some Warriors I think.

Edit - I noticed I missed some spikes off the lower body, so I'm calling this my first 'Nid conversion, a Lesser Spiked Trygon.

Impressive!

Love the layering of the carapace! Will have to take more time with my blending like you do.

I never would have thought a color scheme like that would work, but the execution and style on these models is so fresh and energizing... It takes on a challenge (somewhat wacky colors) and meets it and beats it. I love the way these things look. This is an excellent job!

Thanks dudes

Kr00gZ, there is no blending, just layering / feathering to gradually bring the colour up. I can't do blending :(
