Heya folks!
It's been quite a while since I showed one of my projects here, so it's time for that again!
Since januari I've been working on my new Sisters force, and having a blast. I've managed to squeeze in a few games against friends at home during the current crisis, and I enjoy playing them as much as painting them. Especially my Repentia have been doing so much work, chainsawing their way through units far above their weight-class, even turning a squad of Grey Knight terminators into fertilizer.
I decided not to go for one of the Orders Majoris, but a Minoris of my own design: Order of Holy Illumination (I run them as Martyred Lady so far). I always wanted to paint a force in bright primary colors (after the demi-pastel color effect of my Alpha Legion and the metallic look of my Necrons), so a bold yellow and green sounded like a great plan (yes, I do regret the yellow a little bit).
I'll put the fluff after the pictures.
Canoness Margareth, my warlady, based on the old Celestine model.
Celestine and her BFF's.
My first squad of Battle Sisters, featuring Sister Cathy, a very angry person about to break her arm firing a storm bolter one-handed.
The second squad, including two original metal Sisters.
The whole team, including Thaddeus the Purifier from Blackstone Fortress.
The Penitent
Iron Lazharra, Canoness Technica. I know, I know, we don't get techmarines, but I wanted the Canoness that babysits the Excorcists to look the part. And yes, I was very definitly inspired by the new She-Ra cartoon when building and painting her.
The Choir of Cherubs, my first painted Excorcist and the bane of my existence. She took me two months to paint.
The Lore Blurb:
Order of Holy Illumination
Icon: an open tome with an iron halo
The Order of Holy Illumination was founded in 093.M39 as a splinter of the Order of our Martyred Lady. They are tasked with travelling to various Forge Worlds in the galactic north to keep up the Sororitas’ part of the Writ Illuminat and, additionally, to keep an eye on any schisms and unorthodoxies in the Adeptus Mechanicus on those worlds. As the Mechanicus are loath to allow any outside influence, the Sisters of the Order are as much diplomats as they are warriors, requiring them to tread a very fine line with their Mechanicus allies.
When the Sisters are not in the field, fighting the enemies of Man, or dealing with the idiosyncrasies of the Mechanicus, they spend their time in the scriptoria of their Order, diligently copying various valuable texts and manuscripts, preserving knowledge of the past and, very rarely, rediscovering knowledge long thought lost. While the Sisters have a clear preference for texts of a religious nature, many actually spend a lot of time on old technical manuals. While the Mechanicus looks down on non-binharic storage and communication, the information the Sisters uncover from time to time is of such value that the Order receives preferential treatment from multiple Forge Worlds, allowing them a high quantity and quality of wargear and vehicles.
