Would this bother you? I've been thinking of suggesting this because it would speed up the game quite a bit. If I can simply roll dice, pick up the ones that hit, roll again, pick up the wounds, and roll again ~ its much faster than waiting for the other dude to go dig out X dice and roll them.

I've tried offering my successful wound dice to the other guy, but alot of people seem to prefer rolling their own. And its a rare opponent indeed who has dice ready and in their hand to make the armour saves, at least around here.

I don't like to let other people touch my dice. It's just a personal thing. I've been that way since I started gaming. I store my dice 6's up... I'm just superstitious.

I do however keep my dice next to me as the other guy shoots/assaults. We tend to complete 2k games in 3 hours or less.

I'm not for that.

It's my model and my armor save to pass or fail.

It may be quicker for the attacker to roll all of that, but it would also be quicker if the player to get first turn rolled all the dice.

A lot of the fun comes from rolling your dice. It could also take some of the suspense out of the game. If I have an important save its nice to roll it yourself and watch the result.

My mom and I use the same dice. One of us rolls to hit, then to wound, then the other uses those same dice to roll saves.

But I'm not a very superstitious person.

For me, if I don't roll them it doesn't count. Even if he rolled better for me, it just doesn't count for me.

I count out my dice as the opponent is rolling wounds, so speed isn't really an issue. Also, after playing for a while, everyone should be pretty quick at counting out largish blocks of dice.

And yeah, it would bother me if my opponent rolled my saves. Its the one thing I get to do during his phase, aside from pull casualties.

My roommate and I use the same pile of dice.

We just grab the "wounds" and roll them to "save".

Anytime that there is a random factor that could hurt our own unit the other player rolls to deal the damage.

Sure, it would save time, but it would be such an unusual offer that I'd probably suspect some kind of cheating.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I would prefer my own rolls, but have no problem with cutting the counting out and simply picking up the wound roll dice regardless of whose dice they were.

It maybe saves a very small amount of time, but it also means there's a whole turn where I'm not engaged in the game. That'd be pretty boring, I'd probably just go outside for a smoke.

Sorta feels like you're letting the other person play the game for you.

Two things here;

One, you really shouldn't pick up the successful dice, but rather the failures.
Two, I roll my dice, you roll yours.

No, I want to roll my armour saves. This is the reason I dislike Warmahordes, you do almost nothing in your opponent's turn, you just watch him roll dice. At least in 40k I'm able to roll dice to save my little plastic men, discuss with my oponent if certain units have X cover or not. It breaks the boredom.

What we sometimes do when we are in a hurry is grabbing the "Wound" pile and roll the armor save with those. But I will always roll my armor saves. (Supersticion and all that )

Rolling your own saves, morale checks etc in your opponents turn is one of the few ways you interact during a opponents turn, if your not doing that then other then the CC phase, you may as well go out for a smoke .

I like rolling my saves, I like the shake and rattle of the dice as I hope for good results, I like entreating the dice gods to save my unworthy butt, letting the other person roll it all is like letting someone else chew your food for you.....

Although I once participated in a game where a 3rd party rolled all the dice, we just told them how many and what for, and it helped that the person rolling was a very pretty sister of one of the regulars..it was different, just to hear the dice roll and someone announce how many success or what not.

But no..I want to roll any dice that concern my little plastic toys!

I let my opponent roll my dice.
If good roll, I keep.
If bad, I get to roll it myself.

yep!

I remember reading an interview or article many years ago, where a GW games dev explained that one of the main reasons why they use a hit -> wound -> save sequence (rather than rolling to wound last) is so that the player taking the hits feels like he has the final say in the fate of his men. And I get what he means - when you have a vehicle get blown up without any chance of saves, you do kind of feel helpless.

I would rather that my opponent did not roll my saves for this reason. I don't mind using his dice after he rolls them (or vice versa), I just want to feel like I have the last say.

And that way I can blame my own bad luck, rather than curse my opponent's good luck

Chance is chance, I don't care either way. Doesn't happen often, normally only with orks like tonight where I went, my sluggas get 72 attacks... so he rolled half of them. But playing marines, there's fewer dice rolling so normally just end up doing it myself.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

I'd be fine with it in the interest of time. Then again, I don't believe in dice luck and my involvement in my opponent's turn is looking at what he's doing to determine how it will mess with my plans going forward and how to interdict his plans in subsequent turns. I don't need to be rolling dice to feel involved.

This.

As has been mentioned, rolling an important save for myself / a wound on my mates HQ or a pen on a vehicle is part of the fun.

My opponent may not roll my saves for me.

The other part of your scenario, though, about just handing me the successful wounds to roll as my saves? That's cool as long as I'm the one picking the dice up off the table. So no "I already rolled to wound. Here's a handful of dice for you to roll. They all came up 5+, I promise."

I'm all for measures to speed up a game and sharing dice seems like a reasonable one.

Yeah only if I'm going for a pee. And only then with close mates.

Or... if my mate's Tau are whipping me that badly I've given up, otherwise those dice are mine to roll.

Besides what would be the point in doing the whole turn yourself. You don't know who's got what armour/inv save and which ones a character.

So yeah, if you tried to roll my dice for me, I'd get pretty pissed off (unless I'm burstin).

I'd have no problem with rolling my opponents dice to be honest. Letting my opponent take my save roles though is another issue entirely.

You want to save time? Load your dice into a bucket and dump them out. Bam, time saved.

I'd like to roll my own saves but I've no worries about others picking up my dice to throw saves or me picking up their dice to throw saves. Saves having root around in the tub for the dice.
I've had a few opponents who wouldn't let me roll their dice or wouldn't roll mine, that's fine, their choice.

I think it makes more sense for each player to roll their own saves. Since hes hoping for 'good' dice rolls for 'to hit' and 'to wound,' it would kinda go against the grain for him to suddenly start looking for 'bad' dice rolls for saving throws. I know this isnt really rational, but it doesn't feel right to have the opponent try to save your guys.

When I play with my m8 I hand the dice that have wounded him, to him to save time. But I have a set of dice I brought just for tournaments, and I never let them out of my sight.
