This poll has been edited by an anonymous moderator to remove a substantial number of votes from the missing "I'm going to pirate it" option. Treat the "will buy" percentages with skepticism as they are misleadingly high.

So, now that we've seen some general information and prices I'm curious about this. Apocalypse has already been criticized for being too expensive and involving too many expensive huge kits you only rarely get to use, and now GW is taking this to the extreme. $75 expansion, $150+ superheavies, $250 collector's editions, and that's just the first wave. And on top of this the new releases are all pretty disappointing IMO, making them even less attractive at that price. But what do other people think? Will Apocalypse 2 be a proper sequel to the popular Apocalypse expansion, or will it die on arrival?

Please answer the poll AFTER seeing the latest rumors in this thread and count only new spending, not your existing Apocalypse model collection:

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Voted "No, but not because of recent news (don't like big games, not buying 40k in general, etc).."

Apocalypse seems interesting, but I don't have anyone that crazy to play with over here, and frankly I'm not that keen on apocalypse because some of the batreps I saw were very boring.

The models and terrain tho, are a different story. I don't know when, but I would love to have my own Vault. It looks fantastic Same thing with the new terrain pieces. The Aquila one is Glorious! <3

No, I've still got the older book which didn't get used too often and I doubt much has really changed.

Most likely not and definitely not in the near future as the book is just so incredibly expensive and I do not even know if I would be able to field a single formation with the models I currently own.
But I could see me building some of those weapon batteries, those look really fancy and seem affordable price-wise.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

Yes, but I won't be buying any new models. I'll just get the rules + templates.

No.

I divested myself of the older Apoc stuff (including templates) a few months back.

The new release models look like they fell into the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down - which also doesn't help.

But I didn't buy anything new modelwise for Apoc 1.0 last time around, either. I've had my armorcast phantom for over a decade and used it once. It wasn't bought as a playing piece, though.

Voted "no because of price issues," I don't play as often as I'd like anyway so it seems like a big investment for something I might not use that often. However, I do quite like a couple of the Marine models and might pick one or two up for (non-Apocalype) conversion purposes.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

I probably won't buy the book or any new models, but I'll definitely be playing. The store I go to will probably have a its own copy of the book considering we do Apoc games like every two months there.

There is no option for "No, with moderate purchase"

I intend to buy the rules and templates (which already puts me in the ~$100 range) I never had the old rules, so want to have the new ones. For purchases I intend to see if any of the formations look cool, and that I'm not that far from fielding. I know last time I played in an apoc game I wasn't able to field my battle company as the formal formation because I have one of my assault squad broken up into a bike/speeder contingent, rather then just 2x10 man assault squads.

I'm not going to be buying any super heavies, just normal 40k stuff.

The "No" part is not really by choice. There isn't a lot of apoc games at my FLGS, and my ability to make it to them is limited. For example, there is one this Saturday, but The Wife wants to go hiking. New rules might make for more games at the store, we'll see.

I'm buying at least the book and templates. If I can free up enough cash I will be springing for a Collector's or Gamers....or perhaps one of those new smexy fortifications.

I play Eldar, so no reason to spend on units...I have a Scorpion and Revenant already.

I wont be buying the new rules, but i am willing to see what comes out for Tau. I doubt I'll be buying anything though.
I play apoc games at every chance i get, and I'm usually the guy setting up the game for my FLGS. It's my favorite part about the game to tbh. I love seeing hundreds of square feet of table covered in miniatures.

No, only because I don't have the gaming circle to support such large battles. Regrettably, of course. :(

I will however, be buying new models I like to build and paint. Using them isn't so important to me.

I will be buying a book, maybe templates.

I love me some Orkpokalypse! Really, it's the only time I get to show off my collection. And, over all, I love not carrying about my boyz dieing by the shovel scoop. Apoc can be alot of fun. Last one I played was like 10 players on 2 sides and around 50k. One of the young guys was just really happy he could finally put the one squad of necrons he bought years before he actually started playing (he plays chaos marines mostly) on the board.

Sorry, started reminiscing there.

No, but only because there isn't any Apoc action to be had close to me. Not worth the cost when I won't get to use it.

I voted No because while my friends and I certainly have the models, we do not have the time. We do well to get a game in every other week, and those are normally mid-week, so are no more than 1750 points.

However, I do like some of the Wall of Martyrs additions, and if the rules are reasonable and priced right in points, I'll be adding some of those. It might be the only way I can get marines to be competative against Necrons and Eldar.

I doubt it.
I may buy some stuff, the big Necron thing is interesting to me, but I doubt I'll be playing.
Big games like that tend to bore me these days.
I'm moving into smaller skirmish gaming these days, like Malifaux and Urban War.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

I voted "Yes, with a basic purchase ($100 or less).", but I won't actually be playing Apocalypse anytime soon. I will, however, be buying a Master of Relics to be a Devastator Sergeant, a Master of the Rites for a Chaplain, and possibly a Lord Executioner to look all lordy and execute stuff.

I love big games, and with the effort it takes to get to the store or for a friend to visit me, I'm of the opinion "go big or go home."

"No, but not because of recent news."

To be honest it never interested me. I also just barely found an army I plan to stick with so I will be focusing on building that up, yet to get past 1500pt with one army yet.

Where's the 'maybe' option?.

Until I see what's in it, I can't say. I bought the original Apocalypse book as much for the modelling ideas in it as for the rules. If the new book follows GW's current trend of only showcasing existing kits and terrain, I'll just stick with playing Apocalypse from the old book.

No, but not because of recent news.

Explanation:
I was never going to buy Apoc. Certainly not the rules set. I may purchase a single unit, like a fortification or some such, if it's available for regular 40k games, but I've got no intention of buying into Apocalypse.

I really dont have the money and my area doesnt really have many places or people to game with in general. Only Place would be at my local GW and I've never actually gone there....yet

We have a pretty active Apoc scene were im at and I have been invited to the once a month game a few times so I think this is a great time for me to jump in to it

I can field somewere in the 4k range of IG and Orks so I plan to purchase at least the rulebook and will decide from there what my first super heavy will be or what I need to fill out a formation.Plus im a sucker for terrain/fortification models, hehe.

So I voted in the moderate purchase line.

Apoc's kind of dumb if you don't have a huge playing area, and since I don't, no.
