I've heard the term "he/she stole my girlfriend/boyfriend" thrown around a couple of times before do you think it's a thing that really exists? To me it seems like a strange idea as it implies that having a girlfriend/boyfriend is like an object that you own rather than an agreed upon relationship

and is it really stealing if your ex has found someone he/she likes more than you?

Come on now, it's not to be taken literally, as if the person is owned or claims to own a person.

It definitely exists, when a person makes a concerted effort to lure someone away from their current beau. I've seen it plenty of times, both successfully done and not.

If it were possible to steal your significant other, they weren't really yours anyway.

This. In the sense that 'stealing' essentially means cheating yeah. If someone your dating is now off doing things with someone else, they're either not worth your time because their unwilling to commit to the relationship or they no longer have interest in you.

Either way get over it

'He stole my heart' - I fell in love with him.

'She stole my life' - She ruined my life.

'The thief stole away into the night' - The thief dissappeared under the cover of darkness.

Stole is used for all kinds of things both literal and figurative.

I totally agree that if some girlfriend does get "stolen" then she was never "your's", she was only with you until something better came along.

Did this by accident once. Unfortunately I was too stupid at the time to realize that if the chick left the last guy so easily she might do the same to me.

Far as I'm concerned nobody "stole" them from you, they were probably already on their way out.

Of course it exists. If someone breaks into your house and takes your boyfriend/girlfriend away it's just like if they took your tv away. The lesson is make sure you keep them out of sight and don't forget to lock your doors when you go away.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

You sleep with your tv? Aren't you worried about rolling over and putting something through the screen? (clean thoughts people)

If you lose your partner to some guy who made a pass despite knowing they were in a relationship there's no point sitting around fixating just on that. Odds are there was probably lots of other stuff going wrong in the relationship that caused your partner to look elsewhere, and if there wasn't anything going wrong and your partner just bailed, well good riddance to that rubbish.

That does not mean, however, that it's okay to go around making passes on people that are in relationships. That's still a really douchy thing to do..

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

You wouldn't believe what a new or even a refurbished girlfriend/boyfriend goes for on Craiglist these days.

Of course I don't sleep with it. I just have sex with it and put it away when I'm done.

No. They're not a possession.

If you think they can be 'stolen' away, then the trust isn't there and the relationship is doomed to fail anyway.

Well, the thing is, only a jackass would interfere in someone else's relationship.

This applies both to men looking to get in with a lady who already has a boyfriend and women looking to have "the next one lined up" before leaving their current partner. Or vice versa.

Neither of these types of people deserve any happiness, it's all mean, backstabby behaviour however you look at it.

If you take someone else's significant other, be prepared for them to leave you for someone else too.
Thats how the world works.

Sure it exists.

But I'm too handsome and my junk is too alluring for anyone to steal my girlfriend. Maybe it happens to you fething losers, though. If it does, alcohol will cheer you up.

The only time it is acceptable to steal someone's girlfriend is if they are a lot bigger than you. And will beat the crap out of you if you get caught.

I was 19. And apparently, a better proposition than the late 20's guy my ex was seeing at the time.
He had a porsche and his own business too.

Anyone who feels the need to ruin someone else's relationship in order to get with one of the people involved in it obviously never cared for that person in the first place.

What better way to show your feelings for someone than to drop a nuke on their happiness, eh?

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Does anyone actually set out to nuke someones happiness though?

What if they are already on the rocks?

What if your 'intended' tries it on with you while they still have a significant other?

Then there's the selfish side of it where you actually believe they'd be better off with you...

I have been on both ends of it I suppose. The first time, it happened to me... twice... the first time the guy decided he wasn't that interested, and she came back (and I was stupid and let her come back), and then a week later some chick in the Navy stole her away (turns out she did me a favor, cuz that girl was CRAZY).

The second time, more recently, I suppose i did it inadvertently, except I was trying to keep it from occurring, so I kept my distance from the girl, put up barriers, etc. etc. (despite being absolutely in love with her mind you) and I guess the "want what you can't have" thing won out on her end because she ditched her bf and jumped into my arms... and then that lasted all of two weeks before she decided she couldn't handle long distance and suddenly started dating another dude... apparrently thats typical for her...
