Hello all!

How's the weather with you folks? I'm still getting used to the cold weather in Denver... and I hear what we got right now is nothing haha... it's still cold to my California-born booty.

I'm going to see if I can finish off my Dark Angels 1850 pt list... Everything is built except a couple dakka preds and good ol' Ezekiel (thought I may cheat and switch him out for a normal Psyker hehe).

Aside from listing any vows you have for this month, why not also mention some sort of assessment on how your hobbying year went... and maybe mention something about how you're hoping next year will go.

For me, I had a kind of lackluster performance... It was only last month that I really kicked in high gear... I'm hoping to get hobby work in next year. I really want to see the 3 Dark Angels lists I've made come to fruition. Also, I have some WM/H stuff that I'd like to see get built and painted too.

Goals: Finish a 5-man recon squad and make significant progress towards my pre-Heresy Death Guard.

Overall, this was a decent year for painting. Painted a bunch of 40K, LOTR, and Quar. Just picked up an airbrush and just about finished the prep work on nearly a full company of pre-Heresy Death Guard, so 2014 should be a good year.

December goals accomplished:


Stretch target: Complete jet bike squadron and unit of Cataphractii Terminators

Goal: Finish all 5 Merc WarCasters that are sitting on my desk.

My hobby year kinda sucked. I was in school and had our 4th baby in May. I think I have played 3 games this year but I did get a good amount of painting in.

Start and finish my Cryx battlebox. Going for a cool black/silver and purple theme.

for this month:

1. wrap up the 5-man LotD squad I'm already working on
2. build and paint a second 5-man LotD squad
3. try to resist buying a bunch of new stuff (*cough* yeah, right)

my hobby year was pretty good (but not inexpensive). painted up about 1500 points of 40k (mostly salamanders, some night lords). started learning how to use an airbrush, but haven't made as much progress on that as I'd like. models definitely come together faster now than this time last year, though. on the gaming front, I got in about a dozen games this year (my first year actually playing). getting comfortable with the rules and basic tactics. dakkadakka has been a huge boon in that regard.

for next year, I plan to wrap up my 2k salamanders list early in the year and then get back to painting the night lords army I started earlier. salamanders will remain my play army until my chaos force is up to about 1500 painted points. at the rate I paint, it'll probably take me most of the year to get my night lords fully painted up. I own most of the models already, though, so next year should be cheaper at least :p I hope to be able to play more often, as well. I'd like to aim for at least 2 games a month. I also want to put in some time and practice to improve my airbrush skills.

I notice a recurring trend of setting the bar at 5 models ...

5 models is a good level. I'm guilty of coming to these threads a couple of times with lofty goals and failing miserably.

Time to be realistic:
I hope to finish off a 5 man Deathwing Termy squad and smash out *another* squad of devilgaunts.



It's been a blast this year returning to the hobby. I've got in only about 7 or 8 games but learnt heaps and had tons of fun getting involved with my local gaming group.

I think I've picked up where my painting skills were left off years ago and improved some! Just have to learn to have more patients!

I have been on a roll the last month so I hope to keep it up this month. With last month I finished 36 necron warriors, 1 triarch walker, 1 spyder, 15 bases of scarabs, nightbringer, and a doom/night scythe.... whoo.

For this month I ordered an annihilation barge, 2 more spyders, and a battleforce.

After all this I hope to have my 10 existing immortals, 2 spyders and at least the annihilation barge done this month. So much... I also plan to start playing the game after a three year hiatus so yeah... fun times.

- Finish 1000 pt Heer for BA (mostly complete)
- Finish 1000 pt British for BA (one squad built as of today)

As for how my year has gone, really well considering I've only had about 5 months of hobby time this year, I left the country for a year and when I came back my painting ability had gone through the roof from what it was before I left. So I'm pretty happy with that.

Okay, it's December, that means christmas hollidays and that means at least 2-3 days of comfortable, quiet working on the models. Hellyeah.

Before the end of the year I therefore shall brush up and get the existing 20something bloodletters good and done. Also, if everything works the way I want it to, I want to stock them up to two 15-guys squads and get a third 15-squad done. Don't think I will get done more than that...
And maybe I get around to post pictures of those Killa Canz I got done.

The year went as it could: managed to get some of my orks sorted out.

I won't have much time this month, I aim to try and get my KV-85s painted, and maybe some Tigers painted.

I think my hobby year has been pretty good. I got a lot of flames of war stuff painted, built some terrain items and made myself a portable tabletop.
Hopefully next year is even better.

November was not a smashing success, though I limited myself I still dod not get my Daemon Prince finished, though in all honesty I could have if I hadn't invested a week in learning how to do rust and weathering... still working on that BTW.

So.

For December I will finish the Daemon Prince, finish the junk-pile for Skalk's contest and get some work done on the Special Forces SWS.

I won't have anything to paint till the 25th
But then I will:
Work on my mordor army and painting up my new warbands.

I am going to have a lofty goal this month.

I will paint a 1850 point BT army. I have to assemble at least one model, prime everything, and get airbrushing.

Luckily black is easy to paint! Also lucky is my girlfriend appears to be working a lot of nights and weekends, which means a ton more time to paint.

As far as the year, I have gotten some big projects near done, but I also bought way to much (kickstarter!), and have a ton left to do. Hopefully next year is better.

slight change of plans. I've already failed #3 my FLGS just happened to have vulkan in stock because the guy that special-ordered him never showed up. since I'd just finished a game where I was proxying him, it was a purchase that had to happen! so, the new goals for this month:

1. wrap up 5-man LotD squad (done)
2. assemble and paint vulkan he'stan

realistically, I probably won't get much done beyond that. between the hell that is finecast and all the detail on that model, he's going to take a while to paint...

Looking to finish 20 night gobbos and ten spider riders, along with an aleph asura, a librarian and a tac squad. Everything bar the librarian is almost done.

This year has been an expensive one hobby wise. I only rediscovered war gaming at the tail end of 2012, and I've been buying like a maniac. I've been gradually getting my hand back in with painting, and am starting to pick up the pace a little. By the end of 2014, I want to have painted up, playable lists for orcs and goblins, vanilla marines, aleph, khador and dust axis. Ambitious, but achievable I think.

Goals: Finish a 5 man Space Marine jump pack squad, and about 40 or so skeleton warriors.

Mid month update!

Everything* required for my 1850 list is ready for primer and paint. I want to use minitaire paints for this army, but I have found that finding minitaire paints in this state is impossible (no one sells it), and buying it online is expensive for the 3 bottles of paint I need. I will probably use VGC or VMA instead now

I say everything* because I decided to magnetize some extra options, which puts off my LRC sponsons while I finish them up. I am short 3 multimeltas. I thought I had 2, I only have 1 (stupid devastator box). I am also magnetizing all the options for my landspeeders (which doesn't affect them being painted honestly). But overall it has been a very productive month! I went from some vehicles ready for primer to 21 PA and 5 Terminators, 11 vehicles, plus options ready.

Updated my list, going to have a big priming day tomorrow, weather permitting. Which will be 20 Termagants, 20 Gargoyles and both Hive Tyrants. Then I want to start banging out the ?Termagants. Before doing another couple MCs and finishing off with the Gsrgoyles, likely won't have it all done by the 21at but I have a 2k game on the 12th of January so I'll aim for that as a secondary.

- 8 Death company marines
- 5 jump pack marines.

All of the above is already undercoated, so it's not as daunting as it sounds!

then my near year projects include:
- 1 razorback
- 1 rhino
- 1 baal predator
- 1 stormraven
- 1 furioso Librarian Dreadnought
- 1 LR Crusader

And my Big Project of scratchbuilding a Thunderhawk!

I've done well enough I think, with the time I've had. Got my KV-85s painted up all except for the final matte coat, awaiting the delivery of more varnish, I don't imagine that'll be showing up before the new year.

In addition I assembled a Soviet Strelkovy company with some greenstuff bases to add moderate interest.

Updated my lists again, not a bad go at it all this month really. Might still get some time to paint up half my Gargoyles, so could improve yet. Either way I'm all set and ready for new toys next month now!

right, so I got one LotD squad done, but then I bought Vulkan and painted him up instead of my second LotD squad. a fair swap of priorities, I think

Finished the night gobbos. Just got to base the spider riders today, so I can chuck all the greenskins on me p&m blog.

The marines and asura are almost done, but I'm having a party today, so doubt I'll get them finished. Librarian is base coated and washed, with a few highlights done. All in all, decent progress.
