Who has a New Years Resolution or Goal that they'd like to share, and get help/support in completing those goals/resolutions?

It's proven that those who put their goals in writing and make them public, are far more likely to meet those goals than those who don't!

So....you may consider this an "accountability" and support thread, if you like

I am setting some specific dates, but you don't need to if you don't want to.

I'll go first (in no particular order)

1) get back to running consistently (2 to 4 times / week) so that I can do 3 miles in 30 (or less) every workout (due date: April 1)
2) weigh 175 (due date: March 1 -- I was 191.8 this morning and am working on it already)
3) put on 10 pounds of lean muscle
4) run 2 (or more!) 5k races this summer
5) find and participate in a 40k tourney somewhere reasonably close to Iowa
6) paint up to 1500 points(2,000 as a stretch goal)
7) help support my wife to achieve her professional rank goal by May

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Gamer Goals first:
-Sell off all my GW stuff. I'm out. Been a good run, but I'm done
-Get my Enforcer army (and Deadzone teams) fully painted by the end of February
-Build all of my Mantic models (this is actually a challenge, as I have close to 1000 to build)

Real goals:
-I'm around 188lbs at the moment, I want to drop another 15-20. Alternatively, if I could hit 180 and be solid muscle, I'd be happy
-Convince the girl at work I have a huge crush on that being a couple wouldn't be so bad (she wants to paint my models, kick my ass at Tekken, and we go to Marvel movies together. match made in heaven.)

Funny goals:
-Convince myself that it's bad that I don't have a drinking problem with a high stress (but great!) job. I should work on fixing that.
-Defeat Superman at an arm wrestling competition
-Outsmart Batman
-Battle a toad
-(t)roll a guy named Rick
-Convince Justin Bieber that it is possible to hold your breathe for half an hour under water if you just believe in yourself
-Ask Miley Cyrus out on a date (and then not show up)

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I may be the only guy on here who's goal is to GAIN weight. I've been "stuck" at 210 for a fair few months. My goal weight is to be at 225-230 (looking around, literally ALL world class/international level hookers are around this size)

Of course, that goal would be fairly easy (sit on couch and eat, and eat and eat... ), however, as a rugby player, I'm trying to put on that weight in the muscle groups that will best help me in my rugby endeavors.

As I am being forced out of one career, obviously a goal for me is to find gainful employment once Im out. Failing that, I may have to suffer through college or other educational pursuits in order to get a job later.

I'd like to get a job that isn't zero-hours but still fits around Uni - looking at buying a Bass guitar but the price tags are too big on an occasional salary.

I'd also like to muscle up a bit, and I also Intend to ask the girl who lives next door out. (these two may or may not be linked!)

I don't normally do resolutions, but I guess that's them!
Plus, if I can afford it, I'm learning to play bass guitar - that's a more "maybe" resolution...

Probably work

Let's see... the point of these is to not actually follow through with them, right?

Cut back on the sauce and go back to school.

1. Buy all the operator gear I need to operate, operationally in operations. Just a few hundred dollars left at this point!
2. Stop pretending to enjoy video games for the sake of others
3. Be more open and friendly towards strangers
4. Consider suicide less than once an hour
5. Try to enjoy the things I love LESS, so I can enjoy them more over a long period of time.
6. Finally finish Highschool DxD, no matter how awful it is
7. Plunge myself deeper into total and absolute isolation outside of work

1) Paint more! (Subjective goals are bad mmmkay)
2) Lose 1 pound a month. (seems low, but it is a good way to stay motivated)
3) Pay off the 5 grand in credit card debt I have.
4) Make $5k in commission bonus. If I look at sales history, I should be able to manage this.
5) Get engaged? (probably going to happen)

4 Redecorate the bathroom.
5. Maybe tackle the beautiful 1/400 scale Titanic centenary kit that's been sitting in the stash until I'm confident enough in my ability to work with photoetch parts.

In before Kronk mentioning that the necklace should be made of pearl.

I don't make New Years resolutions. Why? Because when I inevitably fail to achieve them I just add more fuel to the fire of my self-loathing, which in turn would continue to decrease my productivity, which would generate more self-loathing, which would decrease my productivity..,

Self-loathing is basically my main emotion lately.

Well Tim?....I believe Buddha said it best:

"We are what we think.
All that we are arises from our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world."

Change how you think and you will change your feelings....and very possibly change your world!

I'm pretty thoroughly convinced that the only way anyone can ever be happy is to master the art of self-delusion. If you ask me, depression is the result of failing to lie to yourself.

I could go on, but I don't wanna drag anyone down, so I'll shut up and sit in the corner now.

I was going for the polished aluminium look, to be honest.

Hate to be so cliche, but:
1. Lose weight. I'm currently at 165 lbs, trying to go down to 145 minimum
2. Play more 40k. I'm tired of putting a lot of effort on my army and not being able to show it off or play a tourney here and there
3. To add to the last one, actually win a game. I've only won two in the one year I started playing. Reason being is because I don PLAY OFTEN!
4. Get a girlfriend lol. I had one last year, and I've taken a break from the dating scene, but it's now over. Time to meet some lovely women.
5. Get a new job. This job doesn't pay well enough considering the hobby I'm in. I can barely get by sometimes, so I save money for new models and it usually takes me months to buy new ones.
6. Finish painting my 2000 pts of Blood Angels. 1500 so far!
7. Get a new army. I'm looking at Imperial Guard, so hopefully the two previously mentioned goals are met before I get to this one.
8. Fix up my car. I just got my first car two weeks ago, one I don't need to share. She's a fixer, so that's important to take care of.

- Go to the gym more regularly. I was going almost every day, but a chest infection, plus weird shift patterns stopped me going as often as I would like
- Keep trying to convince myself to get back into the hobby

1) Magically pull a 2014-15 living arrangement for my 3L year out of my rear end that doesn't involve me being forced to move home.
2) (which is very dependent on 1) Get a girlfriend.

Neither of these looking too amazing atm. They're probably bad resolutions, since they aren't something I can totally control, and usually when I can't control the outcome of something, it ends poorly.

- Settle on a crisis suit variant for my tau army (I keep getting crazy conversion ideas)
- Man up and buy either a warhound titan or 1500 pts DKoK assault brigade army
- Finish my 1/350 scale IJN Yamato (4 years later..... and its 75% complete ugh)
- Decide between PS4 or Wii U
- Download my "song list" - I have a notepad file that is just a super long list of song titles that I was too lazy to download (so I added them to list)
- Create a competitive "standard" MTG deck so that I can play more than just booster drafts with my cousin and friends

For me?
-Get over my ex and get a girlfriend.
-Get my IG fully painted.
-Start BattleTech and build my old lance back up. Then possibly the rest of the company.
-Get a little more toned.
-Play more games.
-Get all my college work up to date.
-Try and get my forge up and running.
-Finish my armys/battle forces for 40K, WHFB, Warmachine and Darkage.

Free from GW's tyranny and the hobby is looking better for it

It's 1/1/14

The world did not end (again) and so we have no excuses now to not try and keep our resolutions

Weighed myself this morning....

With the stupid awesome holiday food that family makes and the stress-eater in me that I'm trying to stuff back in his hole.....I clocked in at 198.

So...

Had my nutrition shake** this morning, sensible lunch, some cod for supper, and a couple healthy snacks today.

I am on a 3-in-a-row stretch for work, so working out will need to wait until Saturday, otherwise I will be complete crap for work (I know my body, and working out after 8:30/9:00pm does *not* go well for me!). But, I'm back on the horse for eating healthier!

Start the year off right by working hard to make yourself great this year!!

2. Waste less time on imageboards, or at least waste time more efficiently
3. Continue to watch Anime backlog at a comfortable pace

I didn't make any real ones, because my extreme depression doesn't allow me to think any further than a few weeks in the future. I have no ambition, nor do I seek self improvement at all.
