As the title says...

I am looking for a Chapter that would work best with my Imperial Guard, I am assuming it is the Imperial Fists but my friend says it was the Ultramarines. Which are the most friendly?

I would say Salamanders, Space Wolves, Ultramarines in that order. Celestial Lions were, and the inquisition wiped them out for it. Don't know much about Fists.

My Slaaneshi marines tend to be... affectionate, but probably not in the way you're looking for.

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

Plague Marines. They just want to share Papa Nurgle's love.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Does it really count when they're the ones who set the building on fire in the first place though? :p

Celestial Lions aren't completely wiped out they're rebuilding.

I totally agree with the previous lists but I'd have to add Blood Angels right up there with as friendly as the Ultramarines. I just got that vibe reading the omnibus.

Rainbow Warriors, long known as the most friendly Marine chapter.

Seriously, they're Rogue Trader era and are rarely mentioned these days, but they're the real deal.

Aren't they now known as the Silly Marines?

I actually totally forgot about the Salamanders. They will also do well since I will be drop-podding my allies in.

Thank you very much for the clarification.

In the fluff Ultramarines are content to work alongside normal humans.

Space Marines good with regular humans:
Salamanders
Ultramarines
Space Wolves
Blood Angels

Space Marines indifferent to regular humans:
Imperial Fists
Black Templars
Dark Angels
Raven Guard

Space Marines who don't work with regular humans very well:
Iron Hands
Marines Malevolent
Flesh Tearers

Space Marines I don't know enough to determine one way or another:
White Scars
Crimson Fists
Exorcists
Storm Wardens
Blood Ravens
Lamenters (Probably friendly)
And the rest...

Saving civilians is not only a major goal of any military operation of the Salamanders, but they will and have laid down their lives for normal humans multiple times.

Salamanders care about normal human lives but that does not necessarily make them the friendliest. It's well established that the ultra marines welcome pilgrims to their Fortean monetary ie normal humans can literally visit ultra marines HQ, not sure any other chapter is cool with that.

Blood Ravens are perfectly friendly! Why, I even invited them over for dinner, to show off my fine chinaware.... wait, where did everything go?

Actually, despite the Blood Ravens' best intentions, most everybody, regular humans included, seems to hate them. Might be because of that whole "purge an Imperial Guard unit for getting too close to Chapter secrets thing", I don't know.

Think of something clever to say.

Or the whole Thousand Sons descendants conspiracy from the Inquisition. Or maybe it's the voice acting.

Salamanders are probably the best you're going to find for getting along with regular, everyday folks.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Just make your own chapter and call them the "friendly marines". We'll be making somewhat funny internet pictures about them in no time.

The question could be more accurately answered if we knew who they were being friendly in relation to. What type of IG do you play? A custom regiment, or an existing one?

Viper Legion and Mentors both assign individual Space Marines to lead (or support) Imperial Guard units. Have a read of the 'Cadre' short story (http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/cadre-ebook.html)
