I would push Dark Angels more to the extreme of "indifferent to regular humans". They have their own agenda and prefer not to work with anyone else. Besides, there were several stories associated with the Armageddon Campaign where Dark Angels came across mutate humans: ogryn and ratkin and almost opened fire to eradicate the vermin.

I would say Salamanders. Then Ultras. Then Fists.
 Lord-Captain Cepinari wrote:

Werewolfs and Vampires have a mixed reputation.
There are rumors of Blood Angels feeding on people (I mean allies), and proof of descendant chapters (Flesh Eaters, Flesh Tearers) doing it.
Some Wolves lose it and start killing people randomly (wulfen), and they look scary as hell. And they show nothing but disdain for the chain of command, they are depicting caring nothing for courtesy.

Space Marines indifferent to regular humans:
Imperial Fists
Black Templars
Dark Angels
Raven Guard

Black Templars are zealots that cannot be described as "friendly" in any sense.
Raven Guard have a reputation of being "dark and brooding, often surly and recalcitrant" even among Astartes.
Dark Angels have a bad reputation due to always follow their own agenda. They are not here to help you: they come, they do things they don´t explain, and they go. At the same time, they are widely known as heroes. But those who meet them usually do not remember them as such.

Space Marines who don't work with regular humans very well:
Iron Hands
Marines Malevolent
Flesh Tearers
I would put the Iron Hands a little higher. The other two are borderline psychopaths. Iron Hands are just (brutally) harsh.

Space Marines I don't know enough to determine one way or another:
White Scars
Crimson Fists
Exorcists
Storm Wardens
Blood Ravens
Lamenters (Probably friendly)
And the rest...

White Scars mutilate themselves (the scars) and collect the heads of their enemies. They are scary as hell but they will probably work just fine with anyone after a while. They are seen as "savages".
Exorcists officially do not exist. They are closely related to the Inquisition.
I would put the rest in the "friendly" list (not sure of the Wardens though).

Salamanders and Lamenters both have history of going out of their way and putting themselves at risk to defend regular humans, as well as making themselves unpopular with other marines.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

They are also known to willfully put guard regiments into hopeless suicide scenarios to let them get on with their work. Various sources note them using guard or even other marine chapters as 'bait' to take the brunt of the fighting so they can do what they want/need to.

To be fair, they have gone back in and pulled those 5-10% survivors back out, but they have callously put them into those situations without discussing it and ignoring them until the end.

I like the Ravenguard, but they are very much a 'means to an ends' group of guys, who will do what is necessary to win.

I wouldn't count the Space Wolves out. They waged a war against the Inquisition and Grey Knights to protect the civilian and Imperial Guard regiments involved in the first war of Armageddon. Although the Salamanders and Ultramarines probably have them beat.

From one Homestuck fan to another, let me tell you that the Space Wolves are a very touchy subject here.

But yes, they do put a high value on the people of the Imperium and have a tendency to do what they think is morally right over what is expedient or mandated. This can be very good or very bad.

Why not? The Horus Heresy has been so fleshed out, the mystery isn't 'Who were they?' but 'Why does no one EVER interact with them ever?'

I would count the Space Wolves out. They also murdered every man and woman that arrived at the Fang with the Inquisitorial fleet. And their actions "saving" the civilians and guardsmen from the First War on Armageddon merely doomed more to death, because the Inquisition absolutely CAN NOT let word of Chaos get out. And rightly so.

If this is Sarcasm, I would ask you try a bit harder to offend me, I'm pretty thick skinned and you emphasis in the sentence, it says more about you than me. Taking your statement at face value, I would say:-

I would have personally made their Primarch the Tarot 2nd card - "The High Priestess" and called them the second Legion "Crimson Sons" as in the Sons of the only Female Primarch .

Primarch attributes .

Knowingness – Love – Relationships
Wisdom – Sound judgment – Serenity
Common sense – Intuition
Mystical vision – introspection – otherworldliness

Lets give her a Japanese Ancient Name just to make it work - Empress Suiko (554–628), r. 593–628—first ruling empress. So the Primarch is Suiko - Fights with common sense, sound Judgement, 2nd only to Roboute, values her brothers, her downfall was she was able to forsee the future (like Curze but was more balanced), tried to change the future to stop the Horus Heresy, wouldn't stop talking about it so everyone thought she was Demented rather than an Oracle.

She wouldn't stop, even when Commanded by the Emperor and was eventually put to Death by the Emperor when she had secretly rebelled having gained Knowledge of the "Cabal" and having contacted "Eldrad of Ulthwe" to try to change the path of the future.

Legion was renamed "Crimson Suns" and broken up providing recruits for other Legions, and they were integrated or euthanized.

There you go some made up fluff which fits....

Most Astartes are indifferent to humanity but will work with Guard, pdf, Sororitas etc in His name and for the Imperium.

Very very few are actually friendly as such and equally few really understand humans - they are just too different with all their weakness' and emotional problems - if however you prove yourself in their eyes - most Astartes will accept you as a fellow (albeit handicapped) warrior. Some - Iron Hands, Dark Angels just don't care - at best you are a useful tool, otherwise you are a obstacle and they remove those with extreme prejudice (read Wrath of Iron for an excellent insight into their methods and inhumanity)

There are plenty of examples in the fluff of Astartes and Astro Milletarium ?pdf /Soritas working together well and for extended periods - a Crusade is the perfect example I am putting together a force of Black Templars, Inquisition, Sororitas etc as a Crusading force.

I found if you don't like feeding the hate, hitting IGNORE is a viable option. In all the years I've been on Dakka, pictures, articles and discussions, it's only the second person I've ever hit ignore on, which is kind of amusing when you consider the Original post was talking about friendly Chapters, how it can get so vitriolic over something so inconsequential is, frankly, odd.
