Hey everyone!
My name is Brandon, also known as GMM. I have been meaning to make a new thread for a long time - my old WIP Blog thread ended up being more of a finished showcase thread anyway, but I ended up not using it because I would often instead just give each army it's own thread. So what I would like to do is get a new thread going, and slowly build it up with the recent work I have done. This way it is tidier, and in the showcase forum where it really should be by rules. I will try and be respectful to the forum and not post too often, but it will take quite a while at an army per post to get everything up here. So, thanks for your understanding and patience! I hope you enjoy my armies!
For inquiries - gmmstudios@gmail.com

I will start out with my most recent work as of making this thread, which was for Adepticon 2014, then go backwards into commissions.
Follow this link for more images!
Thanks for checking out my thread, and until next time!

I really like the idea of a consolidated thread, my only thought is you may want to limit the number of pictures per army once you get several in here, too make it easier to load / view / scroll through.

Yeah, definitely. I will probably post 1-3 max of something that there are a lot of. If there are 100 tac marines maybe just show the 5 images of 5 with sargeant. Things like that. Then link to the blog.

Alright, here's another army. This time one I just finished! A large Admech army that uses the Tau rules. Features a custom display board with LEDs and a tablet for a billboard that plays an animated nameplate.
Hope you like! For more images, please click here.

Thanks guys!
Going back to this past Adepticon, here is the 40k display I made for the convention.
For more pics, here is the blog post!
Every year I do a large scale project for Adepticon, a convention in early April in Chicago IL. This year I did two! This is the 40k display. If you are interested in any of the WIP images, I have them all on Facebook my Blog , and a blog here on Dakka.
The title "Memento In Utero" is latin for "remember, in the womb." It is a snapshot of the horrific memories the Emperor's Scythes retain of the initial attack of Hive Fleet Kraken, which almost wiped them out. At the birth of the Tyranids, was the death of the Scythes. But it is also a literal image of the few existing "Salvation Teams" - small groups of hardened veterans that have no home, but wander the galaxy fighting the Tyranids in some of the most terrible places imaginable. Kraken and the Scythes' destinies are completely entangled in every sense - time, mortality, beginning to end.
There are also other subtle themes. The birth and regret of something created which ultimately takes life. The Tyranids may have been a created weapon, something designed to kill in a controlled manner, which ultimately had a much bigger impact than the creators could imagine. They may have been an experimental weapon gone awry. An experiment aborted in every sense that takes a life of it's own and changes the destiny of man.
The display itself is based on an egg chair. I havent measured it, but I am about 5'11'' (almost two meters for the metric folks? Average male height) and I stand eye to eye with the skull. The chair is not only an original but a pre-production prototype model from the original design. This made it not great as a chair - no cushion and a large mold line, but for me it was perfect and that gave it an extra bit of story. The inside is all scratch built out of various parts. and you can find tons of images in building it on links above. I have many WIP images of it bare and being built. There are so many parts and types of materials used it is impossible to list them all, but in the images they are fairly easy to identify. I tried to avoid actual 40k parts as much as possible, unless they were from more obscure FW kits such as the Thunderhawk and the Titans. I did not want any parts to be instantly recognizable. I could go on and on about the how it was built, but really all the images in the WIP tell it so much better.
But let's get on to the pictures!
Until next time!

The dark display board lends a sinister look to the army. Given how you expanded on the lore, it fits perfectly.

Quick request: in your threads, would you be willing to put the pictures inside a spoiler tag? It seems to let my computer load the page a little easier, and I won't have to sit around waiting for my screen to resolve all the pictures that I've already oohed, aahed, and marveled at. That means I'll be able to get to the new mini-porn as quickly as possible!

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Sure thing guys, that is a good idea. I will start doing that from now on. Thanks!
Automatically Appended Next Post: In this update: the first of the "Showcase: Showdown" series of images, where I simply just have a bit of fun with painted armies and terrain. Whenever I make an army I try and imbue it with a lot of action and energy in the posing, so sometimes it's fun to continue that into a big diorama of these models fighting. The root of all Warhammer enjoyment for me goes back to playing with toys, so there are many similarities to the attitudes I have towards having fun with Warhammer.
