Well he's in the Prequel comic that's been released so far, so I hope he matches up to the look in that He's a lot leaner in the prequel comic than he is in the 616 universe, which one would assume would be so that they can actually have an actor play him.

I've only ever seen two films that he's in as far as I'm aware and thought he was great in both.
No Country for Old Men needs no explanation but the other is Men in Black 3, while the movie does have some shaky elements I thought his portrayal of a young K was spot on. I actually have a soft spot for MIB3. I think Boris the Animal really sells it.
I think it will only do the Avengers/Guardians films good to have a consistent recurring Villain. Hopefully gets over the problem of The Avengers being entirely forgettable.

New Details On Thanos’ Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy And Avengers Sequels

avengers_thanos
We know who’s playing him, and now Vulture have revealed more details about just exactly how much Josh Brolin’s Thanos will be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Needless to say, if you prefer to remain SPOILER FREE, stop reading right here and wait patiently for August.
He didn’t appear until the end credits of The Avengers, but Thanos will be showing up bright and early in Guardians of the Galaxy, says Vulture, first as a hologram – which he will use as his primary form of communication throughout the film. But he will also appear in person, in a scene alongside Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), his two henchmen and the main villains the Guardians will face throughout the film.
After Guardians, Vulture believes Thanos will take a backseat for a while to regroup on how to gather more Infinity Stones, and allow the Avengers to battle Ultron for their second meetup, but he’ll be back in full force for Avengers 3, and an epic battle that this whole franchise has been building towards ever since he chuckled at us at the end of the first Avengers.
and whilst we're on Marvel MOvies.....
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/06/03/sinisters-scott-derickson-set-to-direct-dr-strange%e2%80%8f/
Now, this is a surprise.
Marvel’s pick for the Dr. Strange director’s job is Scott Derickson, the man behind The Exorcism of Emily Rose, the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, Sinister and, still to come this summer, Deliver Us From Evil.
According to Variety, the deal isn’t yet done, so… nah, we’re not going to get another Adam McKay situation here. I don’t think.
Derickson is a man of faith. He was very careful to make sure that all of the mystic mumbo jumbo in Sinister was totally unrelated to any ‘real’ demonology of any kind. He apparently didn’t want to run the risk of weaving something genuinely evil into his film.
The next step, after Derickson signs on, will be to cast Stephen Strange. Marvel have certainly met with a lot of actors, and I’m sure they’ve got some favourites.
UPDATE: Derickson has confirmed his intention to direct the film with this tweet.
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/06/03/rumour-marvel-quite-like-the-idea-of-jared-leto-as-doctor-strange/
In Badass Digest’s report on Scott Derickson being selected to direct Dr. Strange, they mention two other little bits of into. First, there’s a suggestion that Derrickson may take a pass at the script. Okay. Stands to reason now, in any case.
And then there’s this.
have also heard that Marvel likes (or liked, I don’t know what the current status of this is) Jared Leto for Stephen Strange. God help us all if that’s true.
Is it really such a bad idea?
We heard Mads Mikkelsen was on the list, Johnny Depp has been named and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was, as with every single other Marvel role for a male, associated by some reports at some point or another.
I expect they’re looking a lot wider than this, however. A lot…

Good Choice. I had no idea he was going to be in Guardians though, I suppose it's a nice was to introduce the character properly (aside from the mid credit sequence in Avengers) setting him up to be a proper bad guy later on. So who are all the humans in Guardians of the Galaxy? They can't be from earth as I'm assuming this is all going on in the current time.

in all honesty, I can see why. Simply due to the nature of it, it's a concept that's going to be hard to bring to a mass audience with any credibility unless they get it exactly right. It's a lot of pressure, given the calibre of Marvel's other offerings (Spidey and X men included). That said, if they can make a talking raccoon and his buddy the tree work, a man who talks to ants can't be that much harder...

Yeah, it's hard to really listen when someone says "That's stupid!" about a Marvel concept when they've made a Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
If the Guardians of the Galaxy movie fails, then ok, they can look internally and maybe put the breaks on the next big risk (which would be Ant-Man) and focus on things that should be made (Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Ms. Marvel).

Isn't he with the Fantastic 4 licence? I recall him being more affiliated with them than the Avengers.
Ms Marvel would be all right, but all the comics I've read with her in have Wonder Man in, and he annoys the hell out of me. I can see them doing Ms Marvel/Warbird if DC pull off Wonder Woman well in Superbat 1: Dawn of Overcrowded Cast Lists

I understand that orders for Rocket Raccoon #1, the new comic from Skottie Young that received such a strong showing for Free Comic Book Day, is close to topping 300,000 pre-orders from Marvel Comics.
And that’s without any kind of major retailer incentive scheme that other launches received and with a handful of covers rather than the many many that others have been able to use to goose their numbers. This is a genuine hit out of the ballpark for Marvel.
and the 2nd trailer looked good too... so looks like GotG will do alright.

Maybe he means Hot Stuff.
Regarding Ant-Man, it's fairly grounded compared to superheroes that deal with the cosmic, like Green Lantern or Thor.
I tend to think that directors are avoiding it because Marvel's handling of the project ("we just need a director to plug in and shoot OUR script...and quickly") and some of the drama that that's already gone down are perhaps giving them a bad taste in their mouths.
These aren't A-list directors saying no thanks. And given that Marvel is semi-desperate to make their 2015 release date, you have to think they're probably offering these guys gross points and such. Whedon showed support for Wright, so it'll be interesting to see if there are some cracks forming at Marvel.
Will Alan Smithee make an appearance to save the day for Marvel?

None of those were made by Marvel Studios/Disney, and The Watchmen wasn't a failure as it made money, just not a huge amount like the blockbuster comics of today, but then the ones out now aren't three hours long and have giant blue wang on the screen frequently either. Fantastic Four also did really well at the box office.

$289 mill on a $130 mill budget. Again, not great in comparison to something like Cap 2, but that is still a respectable return on investment. You have to remember that many of the Spider-man and FF movies are more about retaining the rights than making good movies. If they don't use the characters they revert back to Marvel, which I'm sure in hindsight Marvel is feeling pretty stupid about setting up that arraignment in perpetuity.
