Same here. Black Templars are known for their hatred of heretics and their associates.

He's no heretic, he isn't yet aware of the heresy, though I'm sure him being a psyker will upset the Templars anyway

Of course we don't know how he'll deal with the revelations as they arise

well, considering the hounds of loken parent legion were the face of the heresy, perhaps they will "adopt" him.

I'd say go with what you're comfortable with. For lots of dialogue your structure can work well, though you may find a more narrative approach works if you want to create an environment specifically. Otherwise you may be disappointed if we interact and adapt it in a direction you don't wish
