Hello all!

I am finally diving deep into 40k after years on the edge. I got the opportunity to pick up a lot of stuff for Christmas to get me started with my Battle Company.

So a couple pieces of note: I am using the Omega bases by Secret Weapon Miniatures, but the 32mm bases won't be ready until January/February so painting on marines won't happen until then. Early next year i want to pickup Forgeworld doors for all my Razorback/Rhinos. I am using the Ultramarines upgrade packs on everyone.

So here is what i'm looking to dive into, plus 1 more tac squad and the limited Chaplain from the Reclusium i already have assembled::

That’s an impressive supply drop. Welcome to the Ultramarines!

Obviously you are going for a full company with a stormwing, but do you have a list in mind?

Which battle company are you painting? If a non-2nd, what are your captain plans?

Going to keep it at a minimal 5 man squads for play, or the 10 man squads for a full company?

Command squad?

Looking forward to seeing this come together. I don’t envy you painting all those transports. Hope you have an airbrush or a plan.

Thankfully I got an Airbrush a few years back so it should ease my painting length. Though I get burned out like anyone I find painting very relaxing so i'm in no rush.

I do and this is the list i was planning on after help from the local group and Dakka :

Captain (Powersword, Combi-Grav, Artificer Armour) - 135
Tac Squad (PG & Combi)- 95
Tac Squad (PG & Combi)- 95
Tac Squad (PG & Combi)- 95
Assualt Squad (2x Flamer, Drop Pod) - 80
Dev Squad (4 LC) - 150
Dreadnought (Drop Pod) - 100
4 Razorbacks (TL HB)

Chaplain (Vanilla) - 90
Tac Squad (MG & Combi)- 90
Tac Squad (MG & Combi)- 90
Tac Squad (MG & Combi)- 90
Assualt Squad (2x Flamer, Drop Pod) - 80

I like, though I betcha it would look better if you went TRUE battle company, as in actual 10-man squads

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Small update. Found out when i opened the Dreadnoughts that they don't come with Multi-Meltas. After some fishing around i decided to order the Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought right Arm set and simply cut off/file the icon and replace it. I think it will fit the ascetic better than the Forgeworld Arms.

I'll be updating a bit this weekend with some Pics of assembled stuff.

Also thought I would share the color scheme i'm doing as inspired by this Youtube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pPEksItS5g

I will be keeping Gold Trim and Blue helmets however. Sargents will have red still.

Small update as I have have decided to switch color and direction for painting style. Upon a few hours of being dissatisfied with colors and my airbrushes ability to do fine detail I have chosen the path I will go down for my 2nd company.

Since I am already doing NMM for my Infinity stuff I decided to go the Heavy Metal route and do battle damage and possibly some pigments later on.

Just for an idea in color:

Base - Citadel Regal Blue
First Tim Highlight - P3 Trollblood Base
Final Trim Highlight - P3 Underbelly Blue
Shaded with Badab Black

Here are early work in progress shots of Brother Agnathio's Dreadnought. Sorry for meh photos, they are with my IPad as I am not getting a new camera for a few months:

I'll add that I'm also pleased to see another Ultramarines player join Dakka. The dreadnought is looking incredible so far as well! Keep up the amazing work

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Finally my bases have arrived! Time to really start digging in. I'm starting with a small 500 point list so i can play while I'm working on the company. Starting with my Converted Deathwatch Overkill Librarian and I plan to do marble/stone bases.

Power Armor is pretty much finished outside of touch ups at the end. Notice my Librarian Armor is lighter blue than the Ultramarines Shoulder. Based and washed Gold bits.

No particular reason outside I thought it would look interesting. What color should it technically be?

Deathwatch members who return to their chapter can wear the DW shoulder, but the rest of their armor is normal colors. So the DW shoulderpad should still be silver.

But it looks good in gold. Nice work.

Interesting I was not aware of that fact. I think I'll repaint it to Silver. That's too cool not to now that you said this.
