Not an issue if you're prepared for it.

Unfortunately not many people are, even here.

I'm not really looking forward to it because I have to be at work Friday and Saturday night and the DC/Metro area is right in the bull's eye.

I'm right in the 18-30" bullseye. We've had several storms like this before. Working from home today, and have off tomorrow, so I should be fine.

The stores were a nightmare, for real.

Ft Bragg announced yesterday the post would be closed today, and Daughter's school made announced they would be closed yesterday evening.

Right now we're getting sleet that is freezing on the ground. I almost busted my ass walking to the hay barn to feed the horses this morning, it is slippery out there.

I'm in Lansing, MI for the weekend. Supposed to be nice here. I'm going home after the storm is done. I have a nice boss: he sends me on these trips all the time before the snow hits and I get home after they're done. It's magical!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I'm on the northern edge of the "worst" of the storm. Just going to stack some firewood tonight and hopefully get some priming done in the garage before it's occupied by someone's car.

I didnt even think this was news lol. We just got hit for over a foot then hit three more times, not once did it wven get mentioned outside of the weather network lol.

Hell last year during the four feet we had guys with shovels sigars and snow blowers clearing the plane runways.

I need to go to work every day.

Well, to be fair the news was posted here by a British guy. We Americans didn't make a big deal about it.

It's also the first real snowstorm of the year in most of the NE. News organizations are behind in their snowpocalyptic predictions and fearmongering. The ratings must flow!

Here in philly it's not going to start till later tonight and go all day tomorrow.. no biggie for me. I avoided all the stores and got lots of pizza last night for leftovers. Who needs milk and toilet paper anyway? Worst case I have a shelf full of obsolete WFB army books in case of emergency

My GF has a built in propane generator at her place. She got it installed after Hurricane Sandy knocked her power out for a week, and hasn't needed to use it since. If my condo goes out I can always go over there

Got 3-4" so far here. Still coming down. My labs are LOVING it!

We went to the grocery store to stock up on a few things last night, it was madness. Too bad today was payday, only issue I have with it. Just hope I don't lose power and jeopardize my two aquariums.

Yeah what is normal in the great white north is snowmageddon down south, this would just be any other day up here.

That being said despite it being common up here its still fairly dangerous at times, hope all of you Americans stay safe!

True enough I guess if your not use to it. Or live out way in the country. I have a wood stove and a gas generator good enough for atleast a couple of weeks with not to much engery used.

Kinda the norm around here in the boonies. But I think alot of it is just fear mongering for the oldies. People who way back when could go with out food and heat for weeks. Now a days powers is off for hours to a couple of days. Also food marts and most needs are opened with generators in a day or two max.

I have my generator covered, filled, and ready. We have trees fall and snap power lines all the time, so thats really all I've done to prepare for it.

Wait, I also bought more beer, almost forgot that important step to being snowed in.

@Necros, is your city plow crew also freaking out? I just drove through Pottstown on the way home from the wife's Dr. appointment, and it looked like they were preparing for siege.

I'm in Norristown, not so bad here but they're dumping salt water on the roads everywhere. My condo association has a good landscaping company and they keep the lot nice and clean even when it's real bad, but then as soon as I get out on the road it's like Moscow all the sudden.

My girlfriend is in Pottstown though, but more in the boonie parts. Closer to Gilbertsville. Kinda hilly, but my jeep can get through anything! Actually, it's gonna be my first snowstorm in my new renegade, but I've heard good things. I can't wait to switch my 4WD to "snow" for the first time.

Her power company is really sucky and slow though, when Sandy hit it took them a week to fix one little downed tree. I have PECO, they're usually pretty fast all things considered.

Warrington here. I work for one of the local townships, and I think we're looking to use around 300 tons of salt over the weekend.

Looks like I’m going to be missed. Shame, The Boy is whining about the lack of snow this winter. It’s mid/late January and I can still see my grass. Tain’t natural.

While us yankees might mock the south for being crippled by a few inches, it really is a different story then just how much you get. Not only is the infrastructure not as ready to deal with it, but you tend to get more ice and freezing rain, which is worse then just snow.

Stay safe for those who are getting hit.

I just slid 15 yards downhill on the driveway towards the horse pastures. Been sleeting all day. The F350 is coated in about a half inch of ice.

We have some steps (kind of like a super heavy duty ladder type thin you may use for an above ground pool) that allows my daughter to cross a couple barbed wire fences so she can take a 'short cut' across the horse pasture rather than walk all the way around and have to open and close gates when going to get the mail from the mail box. Watching her CAREFULLY navigate those was fun.
