Hi all! Despite lurking for a very long time, I've never actually posted anything so I thought I'd finally throw myself into the fray.

I've been a Blood Angels player for a number of years now and I've grown tired of painting red but still love the play-style and aesthetic. My favourite colour however has always been yellow. Solution, Lamenters

After reading about the Badab war and its conclusion, I've always wondered, what became of those unfortunate sons of Sanguinius? Did they complete their penitent crusade?If so, how are they faring now? Tired of waiting for an official answer I've decided to "Forge the narative" as it were.

The end of the 41st millennium is nigh. After a gruelling 100 years of fighting the hated xenos, with no resupply of fresh recruits, the chapter is at its lowest strength it has ever been. Numbering around 150 Marines, drastic measures have been taken in order to remain an effective force.

The structure of the chapter remains basically the same, however each squad is led by a veteran of the 1st company due to only 12 TDA suits remaining and not enough men to field full strength Sternguard or Vanguard squads. All Assault and Devastator squads are drawn from whats left of the 8th and 9th reserve companies as their counterparts in the other companies have been wiped out to a man. Only 6 Tactical squads remain and have been formed out of the remnants of their respective companies, 1st squad being of the 2nd company 2nd squad hailing from the 3rd etc.

The future does not look bright for these hard pressed yet devoted warriors but whispers that the Lord of Baal himself has called all the elements of the fractured IXth legion home have finally reached them, With the news that it is the very same xenos filth that they have spent the last century vanquishing, Chapter Master Phoros could think of no more perfect a cause to once more, die in glory for those they cherish...

Phew! now that's out of the way, here is the 1st Tactical squad from the second company, yet all still wip As this is pretty much a test squad, using the Dark Vengeance marines (plus a few extra bits here and there) all comments and criticism is very much appreciated!

As I mentioned earlier...elsewhere...you are to be commended for taking on one of the most difficult colors to paint along with the ridiculously hard to pull of check scheme too!

Thanks guys! I've recently picked up the Betrayal at Calth game because I love MkIV armour! know I just need to find a good, fluffy, reason for the Lamenters to have some... I was thinking either due to the lack of serviceable suits left, they've been forced to use the sacred MkIV donated from the blood angels chapter at the time of their founding or they just stumbled across a warehouse full some where and Blood Ravened the Hell out of it Or maybe they've always used MkIV like the Red Scorpions? What do you all think? Any input and opinions about basically making it up as I go along will be appreciated.

Just a quick update to show I'm still alive
I've managed to paint a 10 man assault squad and played around with the "blood for the blood God" technical paint which, at this point I'm not sure if it looks good or not.
Pics will follow in the next few days after work calms down a bit (being a Chef means that during easter, or any 4 day weekend for that matter, doesn't leave much room for painting AND photography )

nice work! I think that once you get the bases painted in really nice dark colours they'll contrast really well and make your marines pop!

Love the tactical squad. I'd encourage you to redo the checks on the assault squad, as they seem to have grown compared to the tac squad. Lovely yellow.

@STG cheers I like basing all my models at the same time to keep things consistent, I have however done a test model with the basing done on one of the betrayal at Calth marines

Decided to mess about with the Dark Angels Captain from the Dark Vengeance box. Made a 1St attempt at green stuffing some flames on the sword too

Gonna have to start doing these bases soon

Done a quick job on this librarian just to see how the blue armour would fit in with the yellow.

Next job is another tactical squad that I'll be finishing today

It's just the stock BAC contemptor, I've just glued him on his Base at a slight angle so he doesn't look too static

I like the color scheme!

I love those shoulder pads that are only partly checkered. I'm totally stealing that for my own Lamenters.

I like the Malakim Phoros model, but the head just doesn't quite work for me. I think I'd rather see him bare-headed and screaming, with crazy eyes!!

The Contemptor Dread is fantastic. The yellow is spot-on and well complemented by the weathering.

@ Fifty haha that's how I imagine him too but I just can't bring myself to have bare headed marines anymore, having all that power armour just to be shot in the head

Fair enough he has a iron halo but still...

Had a fun day yesterday at the local GW store for the 30th anniversary, brought what I had fully painted to add to the parade (not including vehicles and dreds there was a total of 1259 marines!

Even won a trophy for best painted squad

So after painting up my Catapractii models I found it really difficult fluff wise for a chapter that, not only was on its arse so to speak but not even a second founding so not directly a company of the original legion to have any suits of Catapractii armour...

so I've painted them up as Imperial fists because my love for yellow will never die

On their way out system, what remained of the Lamenters Chapter received a hail from Doranon, 3rd Captain of the imperial fists.

Commanding a crusading fleet that has recently arrived in the sector not yet facing the hated xenos of hive fleet Leviathan, Doranon was impressed with the stoicism and dedication that the Lamenters had persecuted the xenos and has offered the prospect of integration with the crusading fleet, their experience invaluable to him.

With the promise of much needed recruitment rights on any further planets they help liberate, Chapter Master Phoros accepted the offer so that they may replenish before heading to the Baal system to aid their brothers.

And with that I give you Squad Strabo, 1st squad of the first company of the Imperial Fists

Decided to share what I've been doing this past week. Not managed to get much done mind with the little one bring off for easter

I picked up a box of centurions to add to the Imperial fists force and also kit-bashed Captain Doranon what do you guys think so far?
