With the new prospero box and the model for Russ just around the corner I thought I'd start up my own unruly bunch of space vikings!

Colour wise I wanted a more darker blue-grey than the standard.

Not going for a massive force or anything (yet) just a small squad of blood claws, some grey hunters and a Wolf Lord that I've tested the colour scheme out on.

Without further ado here's the Wolf Lord, what do you all think? I'm not a fan of the daft hair cuts most of them have (makes them look too cartoony imo) so there's going to be a lot of green stuff hairdressing going on

Some very nice looking space wolves you got there! The freehand work on the cape looks really good, and the celtic pattern suits the theme. Might I suggest spicing up the bases a bit? Maybe some blood streaks or rocks?

Those bases turned out great. Now might I suggest that you just add a slight dusting of snow on top of the rocks to tie them in with the rest of the base. The rest of the paintjob is really top-notch!

Now that the small kill team is finished, I'm moving on to what really made me want to get started with the Sons of Russ and that's the heresy era stuff.

As I hope to be building a large force so I need a quick and easy way to get the Grey armour just right (screw edge highlighting a legion )

A standard marine and the Contemptor (which I had a lot of fun converting) from the betrayal at Calth box

This time I've made more of an effort with the bases XD

I'm currently working on the Catapractii terminators at the moment will post some pics when there done

I've decided to go the route of Harald's Deathwolves as the ultimate goal for this army with one difference.

I've never been keen on the over the top wolfyness of late I know it can be like marmite for a number of fans.

I don't mind the fact they venerate wolves and use pelts and tail talismans what I can get past is the whole turning into werewolves and also riding giant wolves (you don't see blood angels riding giant bats or turning into Van Helsing esqe vampires when succumbing to the black rage)

I've always been drawn more to the vikings in space idea so the elements like the thunderwolf cavalry will be more like badass viking bikers and the wolfen will be more akin to berserkers.

Love the contemptor pose, given me a couple ideas for mine. Was looking at fitting the wolf helmet, wasn't sure how well it would look but you've nailed it for sure.
