I have two 9 year old mutts.

My first dog, Bailey, we rescued from a dumpster outside an apartment complex. The mother and about 2/3rds of the litter died from infection, disease and a host of other wonderful things, apparently the owner was a college student and when she found out her dog was pregnant and with term coming to an end she found it expedient to dump the poor animal in the trash. We think our dog is part catahoula and part Corgi but we have NO idea, shes short, fat and lovable.

Our second dog, Bear, we found shortly afterwards is a red tick hound we believe, we found her in a kill shelter, shaking in a corner, very obviously abused and suffering malnutrition. She is now the absolute best animal I have ever owned. She is amazing with my kids and is incredibly protective of them. Twice in the past she has risked her own life to protect my children or me. (Aggressive German Shepherd tried to bite my eldest child and she scared him off, and the 2nd time was against a Panther we didn't see but somehow she sensed it and kept agitating until we figured it out and quickly went the other way)

I had a 3rd dog but I was unable to keep him due to the Military and rules regarding pets, so instead my father is now the proud owner of my Labrador we rescued. The big bugger maxed out at a healthy 105lbs and is insanely happy with his new life in Florida with my father.

Two Beagles.

Spencer is 6, Bailey is 5 months.

Love the breed, even if their nose for trouble gets them into trouble on a regular basis.....

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...

Yorkshire Terrier, 11 years old, her name is Teddy. She has no teeth left so her tongue kinda sticks out from side but she's super feisty and has some sort of blood feud with the neighbor's black poodle from across the street. A little munchkin.

Our current dog looks like this:

It is an old Dutch breed and totally adorable.

Our previous dog was a mixture of all kinds of different breeds and looked a lot like an Ewok:

Somewhat like the this...

For some reason I have always really wanted to have a wolfdog. Unfortenately that doesn't go well with cities and appartments.

I used to have two Chihuahuas with my brother, but they went to him when I married.

My wife doesn't want any pets. She used to have a Shelty and was devestated with it died. Recently she has been starting to soften a bit.

If I had a dog, I do love pugs, but I would go for a Jug (Jack Russell x Pug) or Puggle (Beagle x Pug) for better genetic health and to go back towards the pugs of the mid 18th century, like this one.

I don't blame you for going for a mix. Purebred Pugs as just adorable as all get out and melt the hardest heart (like they have mine in the past), but their respiratory issues tend to shorten their lives. I hate that.

A Jug or Puggle is definitely a good idea for a long-lived (by dog standards) friend.

Look to Chugs as well. We have a Chihuahua Pug mix, a yorkie, and an unidentifiable minipoodle crossed with something. Most vets first impression is to ask if he has mange, and then muse about whether he might have Chinese crested genetics in there somewhere. Honestly, he looks surprisingly like one of those werewolf cats. And they are all great dogs.

Chugs are very protective snugglers, who have no idea they weigh way more than 5 pounds.

I sort-of have two kelpies (they belong to the neighbours, but they listen better to me and I sometimes exercise them).

Both are hyper (typical of the breed) when they don't get enough exercise (which for them is TWICE a day - they are a WORKING breed, and they get bored and destructive when they don't get it). They used to have garden furniture in their backyard. The dogs ate it.

One follows instructions - the other one is the brother they don't talk about (littermates).

I grew up with (several) dogs and A cat (it outlived 5 dogs).

If I wanted a pet as needy as the neighbours dogs, I'd adopt a child.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I have acquired a 'cockly spanner' due to my step daughter and family moving back in with us (I get to walk him every morning). Total lunatic but adorable with it Trouble with low slung dogs though is that they get wet even when it's dry!! Early morning dew and long grass = waterline at belly height

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Growing up, the first dog I remember was a husky named Sunny. Most obedient dog when in the house, but she followed the husky law to the letter; off the leash, run away!

My first actual dog was a beagle/corgi mix; body of a corgi, face of a beagle, tons of energy. I got him at 4 months old when I was 9, and he stayed with us until I was 21. I know it sounds like old age got him, but he actually had an accident that scared him into a heart attack. I personally haven't had a dog since, because losing him tore me up; when I got the sob-filled call from my mom that she came home and found him, I ran out of the game store I was at and told the guy I barely knew at the time "throw my stuff in a box for me, I'll get it later, thanks", leaving about $700 worth of Warhammer with an almost stranger. I have a lot more stuff now, and I'd dump it all to have my dog back.

That said, I do have a cat now, and I love my dad's new dog; an all black German shepherd and my mom has a very lovable black lab/coonhound mix.

I know 2 people with puggles. One is a fairly normal looking dog. The other one looks like it has the head of one breed and the body of another. Behold this majestic creature:
