Long story short, I have an acquaintance, basically a friend of a friend that I can't stand. When we get together and a discussion moves anything even remotely serious she will claim to be the final word in the topic because "she is the most educated person in the discussion".
There's just one problem with that, she's really not. She made it through high school with sub-standard grades, lived off her parents' money without working, and went to a laughably crappy college (the only one that would accept her, even after a generous donation by daddy). Even at this college it still took her 5 years to get a 4-year degree. After graduating her parents rewarded her with a 9-month stay in some Central American country were she got a "Masters Degree" at a college there. I'm guessing this "college" is little more than a diploma mill for the underqualified. The only job she has ever had is working behind the front desk at her parents' business.
She holds her masters degree over us, and frankly I'm tired of it. Yes, we might only have Bachelor's degrees or trade school certifications, but at least our degrees are worth the paper they are written on.
To finally shut her up I'd like to get a "better" degree myself. Anyone know of an online college where I can get a Doctorate with 6 weeks of online courses? I don't care for the education, only the degree. She can hardly use the "diploma mill" argument against a degree like that considering her own education.

Honestly I would just cut her out of my life. It's not as hard as it sounds. When she shows up, you leave. You don't have to make a big deal about it though.
Eventually your friends will have to choose between hanging out with you, or hanging out with her. If she's such and insufferable person, they're gonna choose you.

Ummmm... I'm going to assume this is a troll post.

This. Get over it, cut the friend out, save yourself the money. How old are you? This is childish behavior.

I'll invent a college and mock a certificate up for $10. It would have the same level of legitimacy.
Even better, mock up a fake one of a legitimate quality college and never mention it except in discussions with her. Make sure everyone else is aware of the fact it's fake but her.
Most online colleges are wastes of money. Your degree wont be good anywhere else and I have known people effectively laughed at for presenting them to employers or other schools. ITT, Everest, Keiser, the list goes on of useless schools with high costs.
I agree though, you have better things to do that waste your money for a piece of paper to show up this woman. If I were you, I would make up a school, photoshop a doctorate and see if she notices the fraud. Laugh each time she calls you doctor. Or just save the time and effort and cut her out.
There have been cases in the past where famous people have pranked know it alls successfully. The 13th warrior is a good example from what I remember of this. The writer apparently had a friend who knew everything about norse literature and Viking life. So the writer of the 13th Warrior wrote the book and threw in all kinds of foot notes and such and passed it off as a historical record to the know it all that had been researched. It apparently worked. The book is a decent read by the way unlike the movie.
If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!
Don't waste thousands on a act just of one upmanship....
not worth it.

"...I don't care for the education..." And yet she's the one you're slamming for her questionable education pedigree...sure.

I kind of like this idea. I would never spend thousands of dollars on a cruddy degree. Maybe a hundred, just for laughs. I was thinking of finding the cheapest, most bottom-barrel online degree out there. Basically something akin to the prize at the bottom of a box of cereal. As her degree basically came from something like a community college in Guadalajara I don't feel the need to be legitimate. In fact I want the college and the degree to be as asinine as possible. Maybe a university of Phoenix degree in aroma therapy. I wonder if I could get in trouble with anyone if I forged that degree, lol.
This isn't to "have a degree". I admit that this is a "rub it in her face" kind of thing, and yes it is petty. I wouldn't ever use a degree like that to get a job, that's just silly.
This person just thinks that a degree in......(well, whatever useless major that has nothing to do with her work), makes her an expert in science, politics, etc.
I would cut her out. I kinda want to, but as I am the "new guy" to the group they'd likely stick with the friend they've had since grade school, despite this little vice.

Ah, this is different. I suggest trying to look past her know-it-all attitude. She must have some redeeming features if she's kept the same circle of friends for that long.

Seriously, how old are you? This is pathetic.
Go to Fed Ex, mock up a degree from an institution that you made up, print it out on fancy paper. Ta da.
The problem doesn't seem to be her degree as much as it is her attitude, and no degree you get will change that. I know because of how educated I am, so you can trust me.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
The really problem here is that getting a diploma mill degree isn't going to be adequate. Think what you need to do is get said degree, but then have it tattooed on your neck so she has to see it every time she talks to you. That's the only route in which everyone is a winner.

Light hearted? Pretty steep investment for some mockery and insults.
Basically reminds me of Mark Wahlberg in The Other Guys

Well, I'm guessing nobody here really knows any really low budget diploma mills, and if they do, they're staying quiet about it.
In the meantime, you're basically asking how to spend money and time on an attempt to one up a friend that sounds awful, so yeah, we're weighing in on that.

It will really complement my Mensa membership.
I had a buddy that was in Mensa, and he invited me to a wing and trivia night. It was reasonably fun (I mean, wings and trivia ), but the people were just... sad. Most were in dead end jobs, and they all claimed to enjoy Mensa as a place where they could "Be themselves." I didn't have the heart to tell them that the rest of society was fine with them being smart, they were just dweebs. When I didn't join, one of the people told my buddy that she doubted I'd have qualified anyway.

There are quite a few folks whose identity seems to revolve around being a Mensan. I think that as long as you just treat it as another community, you probably get something out of it. A lot of it depends on the local group, I think that can make or break memberships for many. Our monthly meetings are really just a potluck, an interesting speaker, a book review, or some sort of trip/activity. On the national level there are some very interesting SIGs that cover many different hobbies and activities, and I think that being a part of a good local gathering and a few good national groups is about the most one should expect. It's really no different than joining a local history club, fraternity, newcomers club, red hat society, or any other social group. The only time it becomes bothersome is when you got the people who "know" that being a Mensan means that they are smarter than anybody else and that they have all the answers. If you think the OT is bad, don't ever take the test and see what the political forum on the Mensa forums are like!
Just don't try to take over the local government just because your gazebo reservation got screwed up.

No, actually, I think I kind of nutted it. Your admission, above, that "...yes it is petty" pretty much confirms that.
Sure. I can run one for you. Tutition will be $1000, for 1 month of courses. Classes will take place entirely over DakkaDakka posts. The degree is in mathemetics. For $500 more you get a phb for $250 more than that you get a double pub. Pump it up $125 more and you get a double phd times infinity, plus one.

Or, find a legitimate university with degrees you can do by 'post'. Find one you like which might help out elsewhere too, and do that.
That way, it's not just a well-rubbed-face, but an improved life.
A few months of extra homework, and you get a well-earned smugness boost.

Beyond that, try one abroad but in a non-3rd world country, the same level of investment would render you marginally more employable. 'Royal And Ancient Highland College of Upper Auchtermuchty' with associated filigree on the diploma is slightly harder to dismiss than the Glorious Revolutionary University of Chile.
Barring that, actually come over to the UK or something for a year and do an actual course, we'd be happy to have your filthy foreign money
Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.
