Guys/Girls, I've got a few questions ref Deathwatch codex, I've been looking at various options for Armies and was looking at tooling them differently but if I'm reading the codex right theres a few options that just aren't available that just don't make sense to me:

Watchmaster, cannot have jump pack or bike.
Watch Captain, can upgrade to terminator armour but cannot have a bike.
Both Chaplain & Librarian cannot have terminator armour, jump pack or bike.
Power maul is listed in the summary, it's on plenty of model options I can't however see it anywhere as a weapon option.

Thanks again and if it's my eye's failing me again or these questions have already been asked/answered then sorry for wasting anyones time.

Various Armies, from 2k to 4k.

If they can take a power weapon, then a power maul is an option.

Thought it would be something that simple, any ideas on the jump packs for the chap/libby!

Some models just don't get the option? My DE archons would love a sky board or jet bike but they are simply not options.

Sometimes its that simple. If its not an option in the armoury then they cant do it!

Weirdly the Librarian can take terminator armour but the chappy can't, I suspect the reason for this is they don't do a plastic chappy model so can't have one that you can put a DW shoulder pad on :( I miss the days when we were trusted to be able to do conversions on our own :/

Seems barking to me, Deathwatch kill team cream of the Astartes given access to all the best shinny toys of the imperium, but a chap or libby can't get a jump pack!

I also find the armory to be odd. Also were the feth is my tech marine? I mean who is in charge of the deathwatch's sweet tech?

Techmarine? That's what allies are for! (Deathwatch doesn't have their own, the subcontract!)

I kid. But then, you really could use an allied one...

Fluff-wise, probably one the tech-priests in the Inquisition's employ. As to why the codex doesn't have DW Techmarines, probably the same reason as the Chaplain not getting terminator armor: No plastic Techmarine model to put a DW shoulder on.

Especially sad as the metal Terminator Chaplain is one of my all time favorite minis.

Deathwatch marines are too ornery to die.

Yep they're wellard and they can have a huge hammer!

Whatever the rules say mine are having techmarines, apothecary's and speeders. I may not be able to play them but they'll be cool!

RAW, no. See the SM FAQ Apothecary ruling. Note, however, that when doing the "How to build your Killteam" video, Duncan built the Blackshield with a Heavy Thunderhammer. This is evidence of RAI, but you'd need to okay it with you opponent or TO before putting it on the tabletop.

Got it, thanks. I assume this will be addressed in the FAQ... hopefully. I bet a lot of builds will consist with this load out

Not having models available has never stopped gw from making rules before. Nids spent at least an edition with no tervigon or drop pod model and people just made up their own.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Yes. And then chapter house started selling their kit. At which point GW decided "screw that. No more rules for what we don't provide".

You are basically refering to what CAUSED this policy :( They don't want to give room for 3rd party companies to sell models they don't do.

Deathwatch chaplain with terminator? No model from GW. They don't want to release rules so that chapter house styled company doesn't release not-chaplain-in-terminator-armour.

This was all also during the previous CEO's term; remember the uproar it caused(especially with the poorly written rules) when he stated that GW is a miniatures company not a games company?

While we have a new CEO and the rules are generally mostly better that base sentiment still exists in the corporate structure. Not having rules for models that do not yet exist(some of the lawsuit was based on extreme similarity between the models chapterhouse produced and the designs in development; but then when you design with a certain aesthetic...) makes perfect sense when the vast majority of your sales are the models themselves.

new CEO or not, I bet the "no rules for stuff that don't exist" is a near order from their legal team

They addressed it by saying Duncan makes his own rules and they know you can't legally build a blackshield this way. There is a pic of it haunting FB

Yep, he basically made a mistake and they said as such right away.

Equipment options are limited as they are. Personally I would have loved having an apothecary/techmarine option but sadly that is not the case.

Still gonna model some up for my allied deathwatch marine army.

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer

Fluff has tech marines in kill teams. I do agree that its probably a model not in plastic issue. I feel like gw whiffed the bike release for these guys. Teased us with white scar bike in overkill. Deathwatch icon and bolters then plane olé bikers with crappy upgrade spree. I want my plastic tech marine so so so bad. Its like GW forgot about conversions my terminator chaplain has been sanded down for a dw pad. Also why no shells for storm bolter.

I might be wrong but has the Space Marine Apothecary Question in the FQ changed?
Q: Is it possible for an Apothecary to carry items from the Special Weapons and/or Melee Weapons lists (e.g. by a Veteran purchasing upgrades, and being subsequently upgraded to an Apothecary)?
A: Yes.

One of my favorite Deathwatch short stories is about a Kill Team responding to a distress signal only to find an abandoned bunker of some sort. The team's Techmarine ultimately revives a bunch of inactive Servitors rigged up with weapons and uses them to save the day.

Although I do agree. There is no Techmarine model that can natively support a new should pad. There are currently two Finecast ones, but you'd need to carve up the model to get a new should pad to fit. GW pretty reliably doesn't publish rules for models they don't sell these days. Like it or not, they don't currently sell a model that can easily be built as a Deathwatch Techmarine. I'd absolutely love to see a plastic Techmarine box with a Techmarine and 4 or so Servitors. Add options for Servo-Arm/Servo-Harness, Master of the Forge upgrades and different weapon options for the Servitors and I think you'd have a win. Unfortunately, that box doesn't exist, so no Deathwatch Techmarines even though they absolutely exist in the fluff. I would imagine they'll eventually make such a box to replace the Finecast model, but who knows when?

Ironically, Grey Knights did get a Techmarine despite having no model. Guess DW is slightly more special than GK.

They didn't bother with special armor/pads for any HQ models with GK other than the special Characters.

Got a question regarding the relic Dominus Aegis.
Would that extend to a vehicle like the one the unit is embarked on?
