Title says it all. Note that this is not about rules or even fluff, just the visual impression the model alone gives.

For me it's Maugan Ra. Despite being an older sculpt, it has a surprising amount of detail and oozes power and intimidation value. The maugatar (his scythe gun) breaks up the profile quite well also, making it appear more dynamic.
Oldschool Ahriman is a close second (and the new one too actually, they're really similar). Again, even though it's older the detail is incredible. He looks incredibly sinister and sorcerous.

The IoM pretty much survives on human life, on the whole, being totally expendable. Which is ironic, seeing as it is to save humanity.

I also really like the Hospitaller.

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Sisters-of-Battle-Hospitaller

She doesn't look like much of a badass soldier, but, I mean, she's not a soldier. She's a medic.

And that's a pretty cool Sister of Battle medic model IMO.

YMMV of course.

HA! I do love their, as I like to affectionately call it, poop-squat poses. Sometimes I think Nobz force them to do that so they can be taller than the rest of the ladz.

As far as badass sculpts, Ghazghkull has aged very well compared to other models of his era and he's still one of the top choices for using as the base for Mega-Armour Warboss conversion besides using 3rd party sculpts like Kromlech. Painted well he looks even more dead stompy.

Honorable mentions include:

Lord Commissar (the resin one) for Imperial Guard who looks far better (and is cheaper) than the current plastic commissar.

Kaptin Badrukk or Boss Zagstruk who are absolutely beautiful and characterful models with just the right amount of detail without being too busy like many GW marine models can be.

The Death Jester model is a thing of beauty. It's a shame it makes up for it by being horrific to put together.

For me it has to be Asterion Moloc. It looks like he is about to 300-style-leap-face-stab at any moment. Or he is just posing with one leg up like a badass.

Good call on Badrukk, it's a great model that's got a lot of character. I've got to say I'm quite fond of the new Bloodthirster models as well.

The hospitaller is one of my favourite model, too.
But, if I had to keep only one, the most badass would be Asmodai.
I totally forgot about this mini until now, but he is so impressive !
And close second would be the Eldar Autarch, always loved him.

Do custom builds count? If so nothing can beat this guy:

If we're talking about purely GW sculpts then I would have to say, despite my hatred of them, wraithknights. There is something silently deadly about them that earns them some of my respect, not enough to counter my hatred of them but some all the same.

+1 for the Hospitaller, but my current favourite has to be the Kastellan Robots:

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Kastelan-Robots

Looks like the villain from some cheesy 1960s sci-fi TV series. I love them to bits.

If we're including vehicles then I quite like the Goliath Rockgrinders. Brutish, beastly-looking things - fits the Genestealer Cults to a tee.

Hard to say. Most of my favourite poses I've made by mixing and matching Marine parts. Of GW's my top three are Lelith, the Emperor's Champion, and the old Warscythe/Resorb Necron Lord.

The Tyrannic War Veterans (Space Marines) always had a genuine look of rage and desperation that I think is quite impressive. I should pick up a few eventually...

Other than that, the Scions *cough* Stormtroopers *cough* are pretty good as sculpts go. Now I know they don't look particularly menacing with the blue/white paint jobs, but set them up with something darker like Inquisitional Storm Trooper scheme (black armor with red BDUs) and they really look quite imposing.

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

At my desk

This is a hard one for me, but I'd have to go with the Farseer from the Farseer and Warlocks kit. It's a fairly old sculpt, but for me it'll never die.

A few honourable mentions to the Geigor sculpt in the BoP set, the new Tau Commander, Sanguinary Guard, and the Ork planes. I think these are cool, and deserve mentioning, but nothing can touch that Farseer in my mind.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

To me, the Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage is probably the best sculpt. A huge monster with a huge ax-what's not to like? The Tau Riptide is pretty awesome too!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I have what I think is one of the older metal Tallarn lieutenants. He's got flowing robes, sunglasses, and a pose that says "i will not put up with your bs." It's nice and dramatic looking but still human scaled, which is what i like.
