Hey guys,
I'm curious - have there ever been incidents of Space Marines being resurrected?
I'm not talking about "They performed CPR and he was revived after 10 minutes" sort of thing. I'm talking they died, a relatively large period of time passed, and then - for whatever reason and by whatever methods - they were resurrected.
Cheers

As far as I'm aware, the only Perpetuals that have a direct connection to the Space Marines are the Emperor Himself and Vulkan. Are there any Space Marines that are even suspected of being Perpetuals?

Never heard of him before now. Had to Google him. Odd and unfortunate character to say the least haha

It depends on the nature of the resurrection discussed.
We do know that the Emperor's soul (or more specifically, the conglomeration of souls that makes up His soulstuff) is capable of returning to the material world after death (because that's basically what the Shamans did in the first place - alone, they were picked off and eaten by warpbeings before they managed to reincarnate, but together, they had enough strength to perform the deed). It stands to reason that if His soul was capable of the task then, His soul would probably be capable of the task now... though its also reasonable to suggest the warp is that much more turbulent and dangerous than it was at the time the Shamans did their mass-suicide thing.
Regardless, that form of resurrection is more of a reincarnation, and would result in the Emperor being reborn in a new vessel (Que the "Emperor is reborn as a girl" fanfiction).
It also isn't definitive proof, though as I said, it is evidence (I'd even call it strong evidence) that perma-killing the Emperor is unlikely.
We don't have any indication that the Emperor is a Perpetual in the same way that Vulkan or Grammaticus are, in that they (almost immediately) reform themselves in the material world as they were before death, though. If that's what is meant by resurrection, then we don't have as much to suggest that the Emperor can do the same, aside from the vague perception that Vulkan's perpetuality was an inherited trait, rather than a fluke or engineered.

I believe Luther uses some kind of sorcery to resurrect the librarian Zahariel at one point.
I don't know of it being done by non-heretical means, though.

Well I'll add to to what Unusual Suspect said by also say that the Emperor is a Perpetual and by virtue of that trait can resurrect. There's a whole other topic on why he didn't after being mortally wounded by Horus, but it's safe to say that those were very special circumstances without which the Emperor would have resurrected.

It seems that the warp affects Perpetuals in ways that material forces can't.
Cyrene Valantion (and maybe Zahariel) was made a perpetual by being resurrected by a sorcerous ritual.
When John Grammaticus stabbed Vulkan with a shard of fulgurite imbued with the Emperor's psychic power, the latter was temporarily permanently killed while the former lost his perpetual-ness.
It wouldn't be out of the question for a Chaos empowered Horus to be capable of wounding the Emperor's soul, thus preventing him from respawning.

Space Marines (well, not all Chapters) can enter a hibernation trance that could conceivably allow them to survive a very long time even with horrible wounds, so in that way "resurrecting" one is not only possible but probably quite common.

In Gathering Storm II: Fracture of Biel-Tan, Ynnead shows that it has the capacity to return Rubric Marines (who are 'dead' by most conventional metrics) back to life. One assumes it could do the same for pretty much any dead thing if it wanted to.

although the obvious question is, is this something that Ynnead could really do, or is it somethhing that would require concentration, thus effectivly making it useless

Resurrected Space Marines are totally a thing.
The Iron Hands used the Keys of Hel to cybernetically resurrect a number of their marines.

As has been mentioned, CSM's can come back whenever they strike a suitable bargin. Example of this is Eliphas from Dow.
Also, in the Salamanders trilogy, the antagonists are trying to perfect their resurrection technology so they can rez their old leader. We see the 'Brute' of the warband shoved into a grinder, torn to ribbons, and hours later is back like nothing ever happened. I specify this as he wasn't the type to make deals with Daemons, implying another method of resurrecting.

If we're talking perpetual-style "reform a few hours after death in the same form" style resurrection, Mellow is still correct - we don't really have any proof that the Emperor is a Perpetual, because we've never seen him die.
There is a lot of speculation that Vulkan inherits his perpetual nature from the Emperor, but that's really just speculation. There won't be proof until Big E dies.

Are you suggesting it would resurrect The Emperor if it was in some way interested in helping?

Perhaps - perhaps not - the text implies she is still human - or maybe she thinks she is.
Also the Geminae may or may not be Daemons or resurected humans.

Er no she absolutely doesn't - she is weakened and gets cut down by Abby : lets look at an actual quote from the book - page 73
Celestine was a mortal shell, reborn too many times from the tides of the Immaterium
So specfically described as a resurected human.
She remains on the planet throuhgout - even when Abby has to retreat because The last vestiges of the Warp were retreating
and he could not teleport once they had gone. She is around AFTER that in mortal form.

Remember, Marines from a chapter that has a functioning Sus-An Membrane do have the ability to enter a state of suspended animation, appearing to be dead from fatal wounds but able to stay just barely alive. They can only be resurrected in this state via chemical therapy or hypnotic auto-suggestion that would be unique to their chapter's rites. Using this method, one marine from the Dark Angels "died" and was "resurrected" 567 years later. Marines can enter this willingly, or automatically do so upon extreme physical trauma.
