Kill team looks like a lot of fun, and not something that GW will immediately stop supporting. It's the perfect opportunity to have a go with a different force that you don't want an army of.
So what factions are you starting/using? I'm going to get a harlequin troupe, I love the aesthetic of the aeldari just never had the chance to start an army.
Meh... I'll check it out. Knowing me it will be the same as always... I'll hate it at first but then end up loving it as everyone else plays it and it lets me do more kit bashing and paint more things. Just really hope GW doesn't suddenly come out with more unit rules I have to buy separately... but for now probably going to grab the £15 stealth suits, use my dark imperium nurgle, use my FW space marines, maybe convert some orks and potential some cheap tyranids.
I don't think I'll be getting anything initially. I'm not particularly sold on the idea and it seems a bit daft buying stuff for this before my principle codex is released.
If it catches on and is particularly well balanced perhaps I'll have a change of thought.
It's a great idea to encourage new players into the hobby though, a perfect gateway game.
Probably just the rulebook to start and the DW starter when it comes out since that seems to be part of the deal whether or not I need more Vets.
I'm also likely to pick up the Guard starter that was just previewed. I can always find a use for Scions and I've been meaning to pick up that terrain kit for a while.
Depending on costs and how much I have available, I will most likely get the maint starter boxset and the Tyranid starter set aand maybe Orks as well if I have the spare cash. If not, hopefully the Starterset since I am starting painting my Genestealer Cult minis now.
Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I'll pick up the core book and some models to build a team. Our local store is going to have a painting event for kill teams post launch and I've been meaning to pick up some more infantry anyway.
I've been talking with some friends I play pathfinder with about running an Only War game and they e been running character concepts past me, so it might be fun to represent some of those ideas in my own regiment (who I've been making out of genestealer cult and scion parts).
It's also an opportunity to try to figure out the exact scheme I'm looking for. I'd decided on 6A or 6B, but I'm not quite sure how to eke out that shade with citadel paints:
I like the looks of the new ruins, and I have a use for more AdMech and GSC models, so the new Kill Team starter set is just about perfect for me. I might buy several of them, if the price is right.
I'll probably get one of the Ork boxes and one of the Scions. Not sure if I'll get the Marines or Tyranids
I might get two or three of Munitorum Killzones and one of the Mechanicus Killzones.

Witchcraft ! How did you do that ? Seems quite helpful for selecting a paintscheme !

I take a picture of the model I want to paint in strong lighting with a solid coloured object behind it, then in GIMP I erase the background by hand, and adjust saturation and contrast on the image until I have a mostly white greyscale image (see the weapons).
I then make a layer overtop the image, set its mode to 'darken only' or 'hard light' depending on how it had turned out, and paint over it in whatever colours I want, like a colouring book.
Other than putting together kill teams for armies I already have, once Sisters roll around in 2019 I plan on getting a box of that and a bunch of CSM bits to convert them into a Tzeentch Renegades kill team. I'd be hard pressed to do an entire army like that, but ten girls? Absolutely I can do that.

I'll use my old DeathWatch killteam at first. If I enjoy the rules, I might pick some Harlequinns and actually put some effort into a nice paintjob. If killteam turns out to be a boring, dumbed down version of 40k then I won't have wasted any money.

I started playing Guard just before Tau became a real "thing", and I always wished I could play Tau, but couldn't bring myself to play the two "Shootiest" armies in 40k, so I passed and went for Red Marines as my second army. *sad face*.
Something like Kill Team would be perfect for me. I would prefer to play with the Crisis suits, and if they don't get rules maybe I'll just proxy Crisis suits as Scouts... I'll have to see.
I'm excited for this game, which is a refreshing change from the last few years, and the buy-in looks to be a couple of kits, which even if it fails is not too bad of a risk.
That said, I have Guardsmen and Red Marines out the wazoo to make KT's out of. My friends play Necrons, Nids, Eldar, Chaos M/D, so If we got together for a game there would be plenty of models to make lists from.

Crisis Suits are not confirmed. Only XV25 Stealth Suits, Fire Warrior standard and Breachers, Pathfinders, and drones.
Also, I will be doing Scions, as I got a sprue free by mistake, and I’ll either pick up a Harlequin Troupe, a Fire Warrior Box, or the XV25 Stealth Suits to take my other team on.

Rulebook. Have every possible option for the armies that interest me.

I was contemplating it until I saw the rules, seems likes it just a mish-mash of 7E Kill Team and Shadow Wars, updated for 8th so I'm not racing out to get it. Might pick it up if I can get a decent discount on the rulebook.
Definately looking to pick up the terrain and mat, though.
If I do end up running something, probably will try 'Nids, Marines, Tau and AdMech armies and run whichever I enjoy most.
gundamz wrote: I'm kinda confused. Is there supposed to be a starter box for each army? I've seen one for Space Wolves and Orcs but not for the other factions.
The others are Coming Soon (TM). There's only going to be a couple at first release with their own box, I believe. Rest will probably be in the back of the main rulebook for now, models, cards and tokens will be released over time.
Gonna pirate the rules or read someone’s rulebook before committing any money toward it. If I like what I see, I’ll buy the rulebook at the very least, and probably a terrain set. Approaching it cautiously, because I don’t really like what I see in terms of limiting wargear to what’s present in the kit. If it turns out that the game is good and reasonably well balanced in spite of that trend, I’d be thrilled and willing to buy multiple teams.
Well, at first glance I was not intrested, since I already have necromunda and shadow war boxes. But then I watched some videos and visited their website and got carried away, because of the oppoturnity to make a new warband, not entire army at 40k scale. (I already have marines, guard, nids and tau). So, I'm propably looking for atleast rulebook, and a couple of warbands (I'm excited about xenos and heretics at this), but the first few games can be played with my 40k models. Also, if that terrain comes to separate sales, it's a must have.
I'll be reusing my previous 7th edition Tempestus Scions team, minus Taurox Prime, with enough points to spare to either upgrade some models to be more veteran, or toss in some more models to bulk out the squad. I'll wait for the rules to pop up before deciding what's best.
In the meantime I've been painting up a lot of Poxwalkers as an alternate team or more likely as an article pointed out, to be used as handy adversaries for special one-off scenarios.
First idea, if I'm reading the blurry leaked rules right:
DKoK grenadiers (militarus trademarkus scions)
*Grenadier (9)
*Grenadier (9)
*Grenadier with plasma gun, sniper specialist (13)
*Grenadier with plasma gun, heavy specialist (13)
*Watchmaster with power sword and plasma pistol, leader (12)
SWS:
*Gunner with sniper rifle (6)
*Gunner with sniper rifle (6)
*Gunner with sniper rifle (6)
Guardsmen:
*Watchmaster with power sword and plasma pistol (7)
*Guardsman with vox, comms specialist (8)
*Gunner with sniper rifle (4)
*Guardsman (3)
*Guardsman (3)
Debating whether the snipers are worth it, or if I should trade them for more generic guardsmen and/or flamers. If the blurry limit on the storm troopers is 4 gunners and not 2 I might move a sniper there and add a HSVG for the heavy specialist (the plasma gunners are WYSIWYG mandatory).
There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
Getting the book, but nothing else for the time being. I have appropriate models to build Kill Teams for 11 of the 14 factions already, so I do not need anything else really.

Better not count on it. I expect the DG box to come with the E2B Plague Marines and the E2B Poxwalkers. So the DG half of the "First Strike" set - which they just advertised in the KT Focus article.
Not saying that the multipart DG box is impossible, but it would have to be bundled with some really cheap terrain to stay in the price range of the first four sets.

Yeah, thought so too after reading the faction focus. That would be pretty lazy on GWs part.

Why? You would get all available troop types, most likely enough models for a full KT (no idea on points), and some options even with the monopose Plaguemarines. Not bad actually.
The multipart Plaguemarines are of course prettier (in the Nurgle sense...), and maybe we will get them with a Feculent Gnarlmaw - the individual kits come to 62,50€, which might just happen as a 50€ KT set. But as I said: I would not bet on it.

Well... because I got that set already

That would be awesome, thought it would surprise me to see the tree in KT.
