Welcome all to the 57th round of the Dakka Painting challenge. For those who haven't seen the challenge before, it is a community-focused friendly competition open to anyone on the site, regardless of your skill level or experience. Every round contributes towards a League table, which ultimately means nothing but is a lot of fun to keep an eye on and jockey for position with Dakka's other painters.

This month, the theme is Heroes and Villains, so we're looking for the paragons of good and evil, those whose mighty deeds earn them glory and renown or infamy and dread. From heroic commanders pulling victory from the jaws of defeat to the dastardly assassins dispatched to slide a blade between their ribs, there's a whole spectrum of options for this theme, so off we go!

How To Enter
- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 6 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them. For example, a collage of 5 images and one separate image would count as your 6 picture allowance.


So What Do I Win?
- Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month! Following the vote, points will be awarded to every entrant. This year, the Points you receive will be equal to the Percentage of Votes your entry receives in the final Voting thread; if you get 10%, you get 10 points, if you get 6% you get 6 points, so on and so forth.

These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in. The overall winner of the League for this year will receive a set of Dakka Dice.

This challenge begins 1st of November and will end at midnight UK time on the 30th of November. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.

Here's my proof pic. Dragonborn from Modiphius for the upcoming elder Scrolls call to arms game and a bones pathfinder dragon for him to fight.

Tonight's progress. Dragon primed (obviously from the proof pic) and base coats and first washes done on the dragonborn.

I think Grey Knights fit the hero bill well. If there is time I'll add some daemonic villains too

Well, just got into DCUniverse miniature game, so heroes and villains? I’ve already started my Lexcorp army, but I just assembled my Justice league Dark models. I may have to pick 5 of them out to be my challenge for the month.

Today's progress. Dragon base coated and washed and first highlight on the flesh done.

Nice Progress Jamie. Watch out for Arrows to the knee that might stop your painting career

Going for something different this month a recent model and hopefully just in time of the SOB release, just going to try and focus on painting it well

Gonna try to do either the avatar of ra (third try at finishing one) or the two on the left as opposed superhero and villain.

Looks like we are going to have a duel as I am doing the same model. Although you will have the advantage as I am mounting her on a regular 25mm base instead of the display one.



Pistols or swords?

I have not built a GW plastic of a new model in ages...and I have to admit I was impressed by the small detail. Last GW plastics I have constructed have been tanks and aircraft from 10 year old sculpts...and they were all pretty simple.

I used a Cadian infantry squad as a base, the motorcycle messenger is a heroclix mini, with Victoria miniatures parts.

I can enter the Ancient because he has only one color (besides priming silver) on him, did I understand that right in the rules?

I would like to try to to paint these guys for the challenge, a herforge model (the hero) and some models from the dark souls board game, and that huge base from i think forge world, hope that the base dosnet count as a model XD
